I am all for the food at this location, but boy, does the service suck. I call and have little to no voice, and the girl on the phone is rude and says I need you to stop mumbling. I'm basically trying to shout, and she gets an attitude with me over the phone. I get to the location to pick it up, there are kids with bikes all parked in the path into the building. None of the staff would think to ask the kids to not block the entrance to their store? I come in, not greeted, and drop a nice amount on a overpriced sandwich. This place is wonderful and a must go to. The people are friendly and the food is even better. I look forward to going back and trying all the dogs. We decided yesterday, being National Hot Dog day, we would go in search of a good hot dog place in Stamford, and we found it! It used to be that if you wanted a fab dog, you would need to take a drive up to Fairfield. But, that is no longer, stay local and head to Bridge St. Wienery. We each tried The Aly Dog- Crispy bacon, cheese sauce and chipotle mayo, and The Lil-Lo Dog- chili, chopped onions, chopped jalepenos, and cheese sauce. Both dogs were excellent. I preferred The Aly Dog, as the chipotle mayo was so good. My boyfriend preferred The Lil-Lo Dog, as he couldn't get enough spice from the chili and the jalepenos. As sides we ordered the tots and the onion strings. Both were very good. The tots came out hot and crispy, and could hold up to a good dunk in ketchup or mustard. Note to self, next time order a side of the chipotle mayo for the tots and strings. The strings were not what we expected but sure were good. I added a few to The Aly Dog, which made a great addition. All in all this was a wonderful experience and look forward to our next trip, which I am affraid will be sooner than planned. And this time, I vow to try The Tater Dog and the Fried Bananas Foster for dessert! read more

Three & A half. CT is chock full of Hot dog places and I definitely found this one to be among the superior. In the interest of full disclosure; I was only here once but the two dogs pictured were very tasty. The dogs were split down the middle like i see in Westchester @ Walters hot dog stand, and had a perfect snap and saltiness. The ally dog was particularly excellent, the bacon was exceptional and the sauces creative. Chilly dog was also good. Nicely toasted buns. Its located in one of the most obscure parts of Stanford imaginable, but worth the trek to find if in the area. read more

Was looking forward to trying this place, because the menu looks good! Unfortunately, these guys don't wear gloves while they make food and the food handler was also wearing his mask with his nose exposed. While he was preparing my food, I watched him wipe his esposed nose with his bare hand right before taking my food off the grill and packaging it. Needless to say, it went straight to the garbage. I was in the area yesterday and pulled this up through the yelp phone app. I'm a big CT-area hot dog fan (Rawleys, Super Duper, Swanky Franks, Danny's) so of course I was up for hot dogs for lunch. The Wienery is indeed a spiffy place with nice guys behind the counter, and I am of course basing this on a single visit but...this just didn't do it for me. I ordered two dogs with lots of toppings (the chicago and something with bacon and mayo) and my impression was that the goop on top overwhelmed the dog and the bun. The bacon thing was just a drippy mess - It's a balance problem that other shops are better at solving. The Chicago dog also lacked the elements that make chicago dogs good - no tomato, no heat, no aggressive pepperiness. So, maybe it's my fault. I'm sure this place serves food I would like. But, it doesn't seem like a 5-star hot dog place - that superlative is surely more deserved elsewhere. I'm rating it a little on the low side as a personal corrective. read more
