The worst combination of food and service I have experienced in well over a decade. We were held up to a minimum of 200 pp for our party of 12. The food was poorly prepared-overcooked meat and a scallop dish that was served with cod instead of scallops. The management did not budge on a minimum food requirement that was artificially jacked up because of our size. No other party has a minimum charge. Food ordered did not come and drinks and food were served very disjointedly. Allergies were dealt with in a completely blasé and unconcerned fashion. Terrible experience from soup to nots. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. People vaping pot in the restaurant throughout the night. Forced to have at least 200 dollars per person and had to order multiple orders of take out to hit the number. Just awful experience. I have never written a bad review of anyone or anything. This was a rotten time. read more

We booked a reservation based on menus posted on Yelp. We didn't realize that prices have increased $10-15 per plate. By the time we realized this, we could not cancel because the cancellation fee was $150 per person, so we figured we'd make the best of it. The sommelier visited our table but we really didn't want him there- although we said "no thank you", he still came to our table and he brought out his iPhone flashlight to show us 3 recommendations on the menu and the flashlight was starkingly disturbing... and it didn't really feel like he knew the menu at all. When we shows him our price range he still recommended bottles $30-40 more than what we were looking for. Our server was very kind and attentive, but we felt very rushed as he stood over our shoulder as we reviewed the menu. He prompted us to order early as the restaurant was about to fill up (which we completely understand and respect, however it was all very rushed). The food was nothing to write home about. We are ok spending that much money on dinner but we want the experience and the food to reflect that price point and we feel as though there are better places in Aspen to receive that type of experience. We decided to split a salad and an entre and we're charged $5 for a split fe for each item, which we were not notified of. It all in all felt like a waste of our money and a disappointment. The Wild Fig is a small spot so be sure to make reservations in advance. I will agree with a bunch of the other yelp reviews that say the lighting is pretty dark, and other diners nearby had to use their phone flashlight to see the menu--although I get that's the ambience they're going for. The waitstaff was very attentive and gave great menu recommendations. All the seafoood options that our table ordered were FANTASTIC (scallops, mussels, and clams) and the duck entree was perfectly cooked as well. A true Aspen gem! read more

Sat at the bar, bartender service was good, attentive, fills the water, asked about another drink when empty, etc. Decent cooking, there's good balance in seasoning. Pasta on the creamier side than proper Italian, but does have home made feel to it. Olive oil rather blend. Thing I didn't like is that when casually asked about whether the lobster and scallops were ever frozen, the response was somewhat indignant and unconvincing: "No, they were flied in aquariums fresh every morning and our chefs would cook them at four in the morning. Our seafood comes with Matsuhisa's- don't you know?" Little did she know, I sat across Michael, Matsushisa's sushi chef the next day. He had a slightly different story. And I applaud him for the integrity and resourcefulness to make it all work. See, I like a good story- Running a seafood restaurant 8,000 ft in the mountains with no seawater 1,000 miles in either direction... Not only does it make for awful carbon footprint on every customer, but one wonders: "What do you do with the lobster head, claws, and legs? Staff eating lobster rolls everyday?". Obviously, lobsters don't live without those parts, yet there are only lobster tails in every dish... And indeed, they taste frozen- shrank dry and a battle to pick tails out the shell- That is not because the chef cooked them 4 this morning or every morning (makes one wonder: "why?" when you can keep livestock in aquariums for days onwards on arrival). They dehydrate in the frozen process. Scallops are easy give aways just by their size and sheer chewing texture. They shrink, get hard, and don't absorb broth after being frozen. In a high end establishment such as this, I see no reason why lie about it other than insecurity or contempt for customers' intellect. It puts all other claims such as "home made pasta" into question even when those are true. I much rather just being told straight truth and would've given them a 4 star in that case. We made patio reservations last minute for an early dinner. We ordered the Burratta and it was seriously the best ever. It had fig, peaches, balsamic, and tons of prosciutto. Plenty to share between the two of us and then we split the lamb special and left feeling not too full and definitely not hungry. The restaurant is cute. The problem was that we made a reservation for 9 pm as they said they did not have anything earlier. Then we get a text saying your table is ready at 8pm! We got there as soon as we could and the hostess said oh, yes. Follow me. No thank you, no greeting, very unpleasant. We both ordered the lobster ravioli which was tasty. The lobster ravioli did have a broth type sauce as someone mentioned and usually the sauce is more creamy. There seemed to be a very unprofessional dynamic going on between the manager, bartender and hostess, who went into a corner and were arguing about something. It was very strange and the whole atmosphere was unusual. Our waitress Katie was very sweet though and tried to be very professional. They need better management. read more

Despite some mixed reviews I was excited to try the Wild Fig....reason being something on the menu called "Wild Fig Frites" I thought this was going to be fried figs...PLOT TWIST....it is not. It is simply The Wild Fig's take on a french fry.... L O L. I felt super silly after that but my server assured me I was not the only one to make that mistaken assumption (perhaps they could look into changing the name on that particular fry..just a thought). Okay, I will begin my review now. The cocktail list, let's start there-its nice! Some super creative drinks, we tried one that was made with balsamic vinegar! So weird...I don't know if I actually ~liked it~ but trying it was fun. The rhubarb gin and tonic, was an easy lil number to sip on. This restaurant does do bread service, anyone that knows me knows I respect this service and always give restaurants bonus points for participating in this lost art. The Wild Fig had one of my favorite octopus dishes in all of Aspen. I was very impressed with the portion size as well. As far as entrees go, the reviews here seemed to be less enthusiastic about the pasta dishes so we opted for protein entrees. Both were tasty, lots of food, very filling, very rich and buttery. Just classic yummy cooking. I was disappointed to see they charge a fee for "splitting" I typically order sides and shareables as my main plate-however out of fear of being charged I ordered an entree I didn't necessarily ~want~ The Wild Fig is good. Quaint restaurant. Our service was great and warm bread and water were brought to table quickly. Restaurant was dimly lit making it a little difficult to read menu. We both ordered salmon in a parchment bag with vegetables ($40) - and it was delicious. We found the pricing to be a bit pretentious on most of the menu but this is true of much of what we experienced in Aspen. The hostess came up to our table as we were paying and asked my husband to reposition his chair to widen the walkway by the bar. Now, we were paying our bill and about to get up and leave, so why couldn't she wait? She moved the table and chairs next to us after the couple dining next to us left a few minutes earlier. First, the good stuff! The food was excellent! I ordered the filet and the temperature was perfect! My lovely dinner companion had the mussels and they were excellent! We were early for our reservation but they seated us right away so bonus points for that! The entrees came very quickly! Unfortunately the salad didn't arrive until after the dinner showed up. The service was less than desired. No offer when ours drinks were done for another, no water refills from the waiter. A 2nd glass of wine was ordered and the only place it showed up was on the bill. We received a warm greeting as we stepped into their heated entryway and met the hostess. We had made a reservation in advance, and they let us choose between 2 tables - one close to the kitchen and one near the window. The interior is rustic and warm with modern accents. The ambience is intimate - good for a relaxing dinner with loved ones - but we were also seated quite close to the table next to us. I had noted on my way out that, had I been any larger (I am 5'4", 115 lbs) I would have likely bumped something off the neighboring table upon my departure! The service was quick to provide the table with water (choice of bottled or tap), bread, and olive oil. They also delivered our selected wine rather quickly, and provided a lovely overview of the daily specials. The menu offers a unique assortment of flavors, so everyone was quick to settle on an entree. We enjoyed a good variety of food, from the homemade pappardelle pasta with braised short rib (yum), the veal, the burrata and prosciutto (recommend- pictured), and 'fish in a bag' which was salmon that had been marinated overnight with vegetables. Overall, the experience was positive (I'm relieved since I made the reservation and it was our first dinner since landing in Aspen yesterday afternoon)! The only negative: a bit pricey. WOW! We booked this for Christmas dinner and loved it from the moment we stepped in. Cozy, cute, quaint, clean, and a friendly welcome upon arrival. Tables were nicely spaced out, and cleaned thoroughly after each guest. We ordered the Greek salad and French onion soup to start - both fantastic! Then for the real star of the show... the risotto special which was a rib eye over mushroom risotto and the cacio e Pepe for our mains. Every. Single. Bite of the ribeye was actually "melt in your mouth" delicious. My husband and I split everything and joked after that the ribeye was the main course and the Cacio e Pepe was a complimentary side (even though it was still amazing!) Highly recommend this spot for a cute date night or just if you want a cozy spot and delicious meal :) read more

The 3 rating is a mix of great food (4 stars) and very poor service (2 stars). The osso bucco risotto was fall off the bone tasty, fish in a bag was moist and flavorful. The French onion soup one of the better in Aspen. Fig salad was also delicious. Mezze plate appetizer and spaghetti basil/marinara were more standard but still good. As for the service, drinks took forever and came one at a time which was unfortunate given the restaurant was half empty and we watched the bartender spend most of his time flirting with a bar patron. Plus the dirty martini came out without olive juice and instead of taking drink back and remaking, the server just brought a side of olive juice to the table. To their credit, once we told the the manager we weren't having that great of an experience, she added a server to our table to remedy the situation and everything was fine after that. The Wild Fig is a good restaurant. Like most restaurants in Aspen, it is small, but beautiful. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but we had a reservation. We were sat within 5 minutes. Water and bread were brought immediately. After this, it took a while to be greeted by our server. I can't remember his name. He was nice and accommodating when we saw him, but he did not come by often. I had the Cavatelli (but change the pasta to Linguini), my guests had the filet and the lobster ravioli With the french onion soup. All was delicious. Steak was cooked correctly, ravioli was tender with very large pieces of lobster. The linguini was flavorful, but a small portion. We ordered wine, but we weren't really asked to refills. We had to almost waive our server down to get more wine. He was busy. We really couldn't completely fault only him. The Wild Fig was taking precautions for COVID, which was nice to see. They were disinfecting tables and chairs and changing tables cloths after each table left. It was nice to see they were attentive to this terrible time. Overall, I would go back to The Wild Fig. Nice atmosphere and great food. The service was lacking, but not terrible. read more

I think figs are just about the best thing ever, and nothing excites me more about the coming of June than knowing that figs are FINALLY in season. While not every dish at the Wild Fig is adorned with said fig, I had a highly enjoyable meal in this popular Aspen eatery. We were able to get reservations over July 4th weekend through OpenTable (for 1000 points no less!) so I'd definitely recommend going at those special times if you can. Our service was fine, although the hostess was pretty blunt in turning away guests without reservations. As far as food goes, we had the Halibut ceviche (part of the "Flavors of the Sea" appetizer combo, which you can split up instead of getting all three), the Fish in a Bag (which happened to be wild salmon that day) and my favorite, the Fig Glazed Pork Chop (see my pics for a look at the scrumptious dish). Had a dinner reservation here while on vacation. This place is super tiny so seating is limited. Definitely would need a reservation. We, unfortunately, had some appetizers and drinks before heading to dinner and weren't able to eat entrees here. We did get the meat board and cheese board. For the price, it's an amazing deal. The boards were all full of meats and cheeses. This place definitely doesn't skimp out on their portions for the boards. Everything on it was great. I do wish that they explained which meat was what and which cheese was which though. Service was good as expected. If I'm ever in Aspen again, I will definitely come back here to get a taste of the entrees. read more

Amazing night at Wild Pig. Regular seats were sold out for a week but we got two seats at the bar with the incredible Ashie Cahill. Best bartender and server we've had in recent years and we've traveled to seventy five countries together. She is the quintessential old school bartender. Lots of fun, secret drinks, but most importantly in a world of younger, impersonal and more transactional servers and managers she made us feel special 1,000 miles from home. This is small place where the tables are squeezed in and you can hear everyone's conversation including the rather loud bartender. The food is good - we enjoyed the Greek salad and the halibut was light and cooked to perfection. The lamb shank was massive and so tender it fell off the bone. But the highlight was the chocolate tartufo dessert with salted caramel. They have a great wine list and the service was attentive but not overbearing. The main downside is the pricing which like many Aspen places is grossly inflated. I can handle $30 entrees but $16 for a basic Greek salad and $14 desserts are a bit steep. In sum you will enjoy the food here if privacy & cost is no object. read more

COVID has really changed the way we dine, and the experience that comes along with it. I have always loved coming to Wild Fig. Tonight just proved to me that they will always go above and beyond. Hunter was out sever, and he was AMAZE! It was my bday celebration, with friends, and he was attentive, funny, present, and just on point. Mary Kate gave us a pick of tables, and the food was great, as always. A lot of places have dropped off in service, so I was happy to see that Wild Fig kept their standards high...as usual. Where do I begin? From the wrong bottle of wine delivered to our table to the appetizer platter brought out after the salads, to the fact that "social distancing" is not followed, to the over-priced mediocre pastas and just average fish dishes...Wild Fig was a huge disappointment. Collectively, we had the lobster ravioli (swimming in broth), cacio & peppe (bland), fish in bag (salmon) and cavatelli (good)...none were excellent. The fig salad was probably the highlight of the meal. We chose to skip dessert because we just wanted to pay and leave quickly. After staying away from restaurants for 6 months, it was worrisome to be no more than 3-4 ft. away from several other diners. Had we known the weather would change so dramatically (cold rain) thus preventing outdoor dining, and that the inside tables are bunched together, we would never gone there. In summary, unless you want to put your health in jeopardy by sitting inside a small, tight restaurant where the loud owner walks around maskless chatting with his friends, and then pay exorbitantly for so-so food, go elsewhere. FYI, this review comes from a family that has traveled the world and dined in some of the best restaurants in Paris, Rome, New York, Barcelona, San Francisco as well as simple local eateries in St. Louis. We are not foodies or food snobs just people who enjoy dining out, and know good food when they eat it. Wild Fig was a failure. read more

Some girlfriends and I visited during the last weekend of the summer season (which would actually be autumn) so were able to partake of their prix fixe menu -- a starter, entree, and dessert for $33, a great value for a nice meal in Aspen. I started with the clams and chorizo and had the nightly risotto (seared duck over butternut squash risotto) -- both were delicious. Dessert was a choice of gelato or sorbet, or you could choose one of their other desserts for a $4 upcharge. The atmosphere was utterly charming, as was the service. I didn't catch our server's name, but she had an eastern European accent and was particularly diplomatic when a friend that happens to be a lawyer tried to negotiate dessert ("I'll give you more time ...") We had been warned that we would have to leave by a certain time when we made an adjustment to our reservation, but as it turns out they did not rush us out. Very cute and popular little spot in Aspen. Food is really delicious, you can tell the chefs put much time and effort into cooking each meal. Our server was somewhat kind, he could have been more friendly but I could tell he was overwhelmed. He didn't check in on us as much as we needed him to, we had an allergy and were waiting on a response before I could eat the food that was infront of us. It's one of those restraunts that keeps the lights dim for ambiance, there were plenty people using there phones for flashlights to read the menu. The music was great, really set the mood and was the perfect volume and vibe. Overall food was great. Regarding wine it was $20 glass for $60 bottle so not bad, normal restraunt price. If you have kids I do NOT reccomend bringing them here, my little sister is a picky eater and didn't like anything on the menu. But this is a perfect place for a fancy romantic date! read more

When planets don't align! What I'm about to share with you is a perfect example of how important table service is... more specifically, your personal server. Especially in a fairly swanky restaurant in Aspen Colorado. The Wild Fig is a delightful little place with a lot of character. The food is amazing, a sommelier walking the floor to help you with any possible question you might have about your wine selection, associates bustling about pouring filtered water and offering up piping hot fresh baked bread. I guess I had a bad draw... and I'm going to be nice here...our server, "Martin" was apparently more interested in the "Action" in the room then he was helping us. I have to say, I'm so disappointed in his service it compelled me to post this review. This Individual was in such a hurry...made me instantly feel he's thinking, let's flip this table... get 'em in, get 'em out. You get the idea. I just wanted to savor a nice glass of wine and enjoy a wonderful entree. Marin swiped my wine glass off the table before I was even finished. It was at that very moment I surveyed the establishment to see if it was "off the rails" busy... it was not. As I left the restaurant, I had a feeling of empathy to the Chef who performed a superb job on our selection off the menu, the sommelier who so patiently answered my questions about the wine, the young assistants who bustled about to make sure our table water was full and our bread was fresh and piping hot... Restaurant was small but nice, the food was very good I'd definitely recommend the octopus and chorizo- it was one of the best octopus dishes I've had. We also had the burrata salad, moules frites, French onion soup, risotto of the day and scallops, and alllll were delicious. Risotto was cooked perfectly, and the mussels were in a coconut broth that reminded me somewhat of a Thai curry recipe but less thick and creamy (more of a broth), and the burrata salad, welll HOW can you go wrong with burrata you know ;)). Tiramisu for dessert, a lot lighter than other tiramisus, almost pudding/custard filling layer and the cream on top was also very airy. I wish I got the beignets too read more
