Again, the seafood was fresh, sweet, and tender. The pasta was also a shocker, not only was it perfectly firm, it had such a nice chewy texture. You can feel and taste how homemade the pasta is. Next, the rigatoni eggplant was our unexpected favorite. The pasta texture was even better with the rigatoni shape and the eggplant was not even noticeable, it blended in so well with the sauce. The ricotta on top was the perfect creamy addition. For proteins, the pork chop was very tender and juicy. The sweet glaze wasn't overly sweet and it really complimented the savoriness of the meat. The brussel sprouts on this dish were also outstanding. I love when a restaurant doesn't treat the veggies as a side dish! The branzino was light and refreshing, it was a really great balance to the other saucier dishes we had. The service was extremely attentive and so friendly. No waiter to be found to cook it more but the bus person obliged. When it came back it was still rate but at that point I didn't have it in me. It came with a beautiful bulb of garlic! I applied the garlic and some butter and blue cheese dressing to the steak and with or without this amalgam it was amazing! Really worth all the logistics and service shortcomings. The creamed spinach was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The coconut cake was dense and rich--in a good way! It was delicious and I highly recommend it. Tonight it was Cantor Talya Smilowitz (Julliard trained, mother, cantor and nightclub singer). Our friends had seen her singing at a Long Island temple. I'm neither an opera nor temple song fan, but Talya was just great! She concentrated mostly on Carol King and Joni Mitchell songs, but threw in some songs from bygone eras, like "Someone to Watch Over Me" (Ella Fitzgerald singing Gershwin) and other diva ballads of more recent vintage. After I got home, I checked her out on YouTube and she does a great job on Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There." She had a guest Cantor for a few songs, "Melissa Berman," and was accompanied on guitars by Stuart Markus from Gathering time (the act we saw last year) and an electric piano player who seemed to be able to play any song that ever was popular. The food was different in that there were some Indian dish choices, but we enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to have dinner and/or drinks while watching a live show with an audience of maybe eighty. The tickets were $53 each ($20 more than last year). There was no WiFi unless you had a room number, so you had to go outside to get Internet. The atmosphere is much nicer than the original "My Father's Place" (1970s-1980's) and I believe the original owner still runs the show.

One night we reserved a fire pit couch set up for a 3 generation 6 person family get together. A great time was had by all, food, live music, and plastic cups of wine and liquor fueled a lot of laughter. Our latest visit, Lisa E and I set up on the beachfront around 6PM in anticipation of fireworks around 9PM at the Italian Festival on the other side of Hempstead Harbor. Just after sunset (apropos) we made our way inside the club, and found seating on the north side high top overlooking the beach. Lot's of fun people watching, split a decent burger with sauteed mushrooms and onions. G&T in cheap plastic cup and a generous pour of brown liquor neat primed me for the light show. We said our goodnight to the staff, made our way to our beach chairs and reveled in the shimmering lights from the ferris wheel and assorted carnival rides, then directed our eyes to a short but delightful fireworks show. In Lisa E and my opinion, you can craft an incredible evening if you just allow yourself to. Stop fretting about QR Codes, Toast Ordering,having to grab a drink at the lively bar (like the walk 10 feet will kill you) and choose simple foods that match the vibe.
