A lovely local coffee shop! I stopped by today and picked up an iced chai latte and a chocolate croissant. The iced chai was strong and was so refreshing on a warm day. The croissant was so fresh and tasted delicious. I am not a coffee drinker so I love that they offer some tea options. I met the owner Kaye who is so kind and welcoming. I will definitely be back! I've been in the station connected to this spot more times then I can count, but I'm usually later in the day and always miss my shot. Today Is new years eve and I was nearby on errands when I saw people inside finally! Yes, it's coffee time. First of all, this place is an oasis. Way too cute and perfect to be connected to the grime and cold of the metra station. If your waiting for a train, do yourself a favor and come in here! Better smells, better temperature, better people. Find me waiting for my trains in here whenever they're open. The professionalism here is on full display, you can tell from the obvious thought in the decor, the look of the coffee machines being used, and the excellent and friendly service. I just had a quick mocha today, I needed to warm up and this drink improved my mood right away. Made in front of me (before paying... that's respect) by a sweet lady who also hooked me up with a punch card, it was very nice. Not overly rich from the chocolate and just the right temperature. I see they make they're own pastries and have some fancy cold options for summer! I can't wait to come back and try more. Wild Rooster is a convenient little stop right at the train station, which makes it an easy place to swing by. The coffee is alright -- nothing fancy, but it does the job. They also sell coffee beans, which is a nice bonus if you like to brew at home. What really makes the place stand out is the woman who works there. I saw this coffee shop listed on "Too Good To Go" & Kaye packed my bag to the top with croissants and fresh baked goods. I always feel so special when I visit, everyone is so kind and listens to me yapping about random things. I don't take the train at this stop, but it's easy to spot once you're in the plaza. I did not expect this coffee shop to be located within the metra station, but alas, it was! What a gem travelers have at their fingertips! I was greeted by two kindly women behind the counter when I walked in. The shop has two entrances. One that is off of the parking lot and the other, which comes in from the metro station. There are tables you can enjoy your coffee or pastries at. I found the remainder of the space to be cluttered and a tad overwhelming. I ordered an iced coffee and took it to go. Wild Roaster is located within the Deerfield Metra station. I saw that before visiting and almost skipped it, because the other coffee shops I've seen in Metra stations are really impossible to get to unless you're planning to take the train. But surprisingly, this coffee shop has a couple of dedicated parking spots for the coffee shop that aren't Metra parking. They have excellent drinks. They are kind of lean on the specials--at least when I stopped in. I picked up a chai latte, which is my usual; however, in addition to a "regular" chai, they have a Breve chai which was amazing. It's made with half and half instead of whatever other milk they might use. I don't know if they use a different chai blend, or if the taste can be put down to the half and half alone, but it was so good, one of the best chais I've had. I wonder how this isn't something other coffee shops have caught on to. read more

I had a dental appointment referral for a second opinion in Deerfield. Being from out of town, my husband and I arrived an hour early, so we decided to check out the coffee shop nearby. What a wonderful treat! The place was rather small & had only a few tables, but what it lacked in space was made up in charm and character. In the time we were there, many people who were first time customers or regulars, came into The Wild Rooster to purchase their excellent coffee and various other drinks and daily homemade backery goods that were on the menu. Kaye, I presumed was the owner, was very friendly and accomodating. I always enjoyed a mocha green frap with coconut milk and no whip cream from Starbucks, so I asked if the shop had one that was compariable. Kaye was more than willing to make me one and if I did not like it, she would not charge me. When I first tasted it, it did not seem sweet enough, so she added a bit more sugar, and it was perfect! Yum! Before leaving, I purchased a bag of Village Brew Medium Roast coffee. Since the beans were whole, Kaye grounded them up for me and let me know that I needed to let them rest for 3 days before brewing, since they were so fresh that if I used them any sooner, they could taste bitter. On the 3rd day, I could not wait to brew my first pot of this coffee! There was no disappointment! It smelled heavenly & was so smooth & flavorable that it was easy to finish a whole pot each time we brewed it. The wonderful aroma filled our home, making it a great start to our day. The coffee was a bit more expensive than purchasing any brand name coffee in the stores, but it was well worth the price! I got online to see if I could order more, since we do not live close to Deerfield. I was delighted to discover that you can order this coffee online for delivery! I would recommend this coffee and coffee shop to anyone who loves a good cup of coffee that tastes and smells delightful, and who would enjoy some time in a warm & friendly atmosphere. Was on the search for another coffee spot to try in the area and settled on this hidden gem in the area. It was definitely worth it and everytime I visit I'm going to try and come back. Parking is most deinitely not an issue. The coffee shop is small and shares a building with a Metra Station and a Jimmy John's, so it may be a little hard to find. But the lot is huge since the train station is there and there is also a Home Depot next to it. There's not much seating inside but that's okay! If you genuinely want to sit and talk they do have some chairs or you can sit in the train station. The shop was cozy and clean. Service was great. The Baristas were super friendly. I wasn't sure if one of them was the owner. But overall staff was super duper nice! They were very kind, gave their suggestions on the drinks on the menu and did a great job with the drinks! We got the Iced Samoa Machiatto and Iced Caramel Machiatto and both were really good. They weren't overwhelmingly sweet and they definitely matched tastes to the name. Also pricing wise I think it was worth it considering the cup was really big! I definitely suggest that you should give this place a try. Its convenient, yummy and refreshing. Located in the Deerfield metra train station, it is off the beaten path. This hidden gem offers everything that a local coffee shop with quality products should offer. The Wild Roaster is small but packs a mean punch with its variety of brews and bite options. Inside the coffee shop there were roasters among appliances that showcase that they do roast and bake in house. We were quickly greeted by the two workers that helped make suggestions for what they had on the menu. We came by on a Saturday morning for some coffee and a light bite before enjoying our day. I got a chai latte with their egg, bacon, arugula, and apricot breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The chai latte was great, it was a bit watered/milked down than what I'm used to but it wasn't lacking in any way. The breakfast sandwich blew me away though. The flakiness but also crispiness from the croissant biting into all of the flavors from the different components was delightful. Looking forward to visiting when I'm in the area again. read more

The price does not reflect the ingredients, Dunkin' Donuts, and Starbucks do the same thing. Nothing special here save your money and go to a real coffee shop. Railroad house coffee shop, makes for a fun train spotting and relaxed vibe. Plenty of parking, staff pointed out their matcha so I did vanilla but wasn't made from scratch leaving it a one dimensional profile overall. Typically great matcha also needs crafted mixes to balance the bitter and sweet. Good blend and fit well with the overall slightly eclectic mood, my friend and I did have trouble containing both our work laptop spread on one table. Not the space for groups or families to hang around, we did like all the extra goodies and desserts but didn't get hungry enough to sample. read more

The two baristas woking for Kaye are two of the best, friendly knowledge and kind. The fresh made cookies, croissants, bagels and other items are fresh and enjoyable. A little bit out of the way coffee shop that does small batch bean roasting. It's located close to the Home Depot on Lake Cook Road, by the train station, next to the Jimmy John's. Super nice and coffee passionate staff. They're very knowledgeable about their beans and ready to help match your flavor palette. Ordered an Americano and it was very good. I'm so happy I decided to look for a new coffee spot! This little cafe is located right in the metra station, next to Jimmy John's. I got a Nutella latte, a fresh croissant with apricot jam, and a nut better bar. Everything was delicious and I even went right back in to grab some goodies for friends. Such a cute location, you can tell the owner loves what she does. The croissant dough is from France and was simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Loved finding this cute little place in the metra station as we were in town for a short weekend from KC. Our server was so personable and pleasant as she served us. The coffee was a perfect roast for my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed my matcha latte. We split a freshly baked blueberry scone and though the texture was a bit different than what we are accustomed to it had great flavor. We also enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the owner, Izzie, who came into the shop as we waited for our drinks. Very pleasant conversation and experience. I stopped by while visiting Chicago for a bag of coffee and a cup. While the cup there was good, what REALLY impressed me was the bag I took home. I got this bag of "Summer Daize" and it's seriously amazing. Perfect taste of chocolate notes behind a great flavor. I'm a newbie coffee drinker but say this is one of the best beans I've had. This is a quick and convenient cafe if you are a commuter, as it's right at the train station. I dropped by because I was in the area and wanted to try a cafe that was new to me. Connected to the Deerfield Metra, this place is the perfect stop for a commuter. My experiences was A-OK. I don't know that I would go out of my way to grab a cup, because there are so many other locations near my home, and I have some true favorites, but if I am ever at Home Depot and need to grab a cup, this place is literally next door. The parking is incredibly easy, so if you're in need of coffee, you can easily run in and run out with ease. We came at the end of the day, and TBH, the place was a little messy and didn't look anything like the photo. It was the EOD for sure. I get it, but for a first-timer, I was a little caught off guard. I had a vanilla latte, and it was smooth with an earthy finish. Very lovely, and I had the chance to select from a variety of milk options. I also tried the regular brew, and it was EOD and not the hottest...in fact luke warm :-( They serve muffins, croissants, bagels, and a few other noshes. Not everything is labeled, and all of it was served out in the open. My recommendation would be to have the food under a glass lid or in a case of some sort. All-in-all, the owner is the biggest sweetheart, and I bet she knows every single commuter by name. I love that. But, I think they could use an extra set of hands to pick the place up. read more

My husband has befriended the owner as they have lots to talk about, I also am fond of her, she is delightful. Today I had the good fortune to meet her equally lovely daughter who was there working. They each were extremely concerned and considerate about keeping customers waiting even though it was neither a long wait nor did anyone seem impatient. Excellent customer service! I asked for an oat milk latte and I'm fairly certain I saw the barista use coconut or almond milk. Whatever, no big deal. I also asked for sugar free vanilla- it didn't taste overly sweet so I'm guessing she either completely forgot the syrup or, my preference actually, she used very little syrup. Looks like no more indoor seating but I greatly appreciate the outdoor seating. Would be beneficial to have a garbage can out there and maybe even a bussing container for dirty dishes. read more

The shop is quaint, has a down to earth vibe and Kaye is an expert Flavorologist. The beans I purchased were so fresh that I have to wait a couple of days before I can grind them up and enjoy the coffee that they produce. I can live with that!
