The Win-dow is definitely a gem that I'm glad I got to experience! The staff were all so sweet and the service was pretty fast. There's a small outdoor seating area by the pickup window as well as some tables and chairs wrapped around the other side of the building. I didn't have to wait for a spot, but it seems tables turnover quickly. I got the single cheeseburger with everything on it and also got to try the Brussel sprouts and fries. Everything was 10/10. The cheeseburger itself was one of the best smash burgers I've ever had. The bun was so incredibly soft and pillowy and the sauce was so delicious. The three staff members had no clue and one girl said flour. I told the girl she should be a comedian with that response. No refills on soda. My biggest worry with smash burgers are that they always tend to be greasy but not these! Also the portion size was perfect. We each got fries as well. They were perfectly crunchy. How all fries should taste. We got two sauces: their house sauce (think thousand island) and jalapeño. The house sauce was my favorite for the burger and fries but the jalepeno would be great on a chicken sandwich (which they have!). One of the big winners of the night was their milkshake. We got their local strawberry. It was perfectly creamy and the strawberries tasted hella fresh. Would highly recommend. Everyone that worked there was lovely and fast. It's a small joint where you order at the window and the call out your name. There's seating around the location on either side with only about 4 true tables so when it gets busy I could forsee big groups having a hard time finding a spot to sit. This is officially my favorite Smashburger in town (sorry, Third Window)! Their prices are super reasonable and the food is delicious! The massive lines have gone down since this place first opened in Santa Barbara. I've also had the SB Grain Bowl made with brown rice, six veggies, two seeds, and soft egg which is pretty yummy too. I also have experienced a yucky avocado (over ripe or just a bad batch) on the side with my burgers that isn't pleasant to eat. Hubs ordered it and I snuck a bite or two. Classic smash burger style. It's the size of the burgers at ... dare I say it (In n Out). The price wasn't bad either at $4.35. Hubs had the hand spun vanilla bean milkshake $6. It was topped with whipped cream. He luved it, saying it tasted like true vanilla bean and not artificially flavored. I had the fresh lemonade, it was sour tarty, sweet deliciousness. I don't know what got into me but I ordered the "$8 grain bowl". It had brown rice, six veggies, two seeds, and a soft egg. I went in blind not knowing what were the veggies and seeds. It was gorgeous and fresh looking. My tastebuds battled me on the first few bites (I think it wanted more of that cheeseburger) but gradually started to enjoy the taste and flavors. Fresh crisp veggies, fluffy nutty brown rice. Oh I have to mention the size of the soft serve cones. Sweet goodness, those were as tall as my Charlie Brown head. And gorgeous looking, works of art. Hubs and I did not get one, but almost everyone around me did. The seating is all outdoors. The patio could sure do with a power washing though. The Win-Dow is good, very good. I've reviewed a lot of burgers in this town and the Win-Dow definitely rates. What I can't say is that it's inherently special or distinct. The double cheeseburger is a good choice if you're in the neighborhood and you want a good, fast burger but it doesn't rise the the level of "I'll go out of my way to get one" as a few other places in the area do. I'd certainly have to disagree with those that say it's "the best" smash burger in town because it isn't, buts it's about as good as you will get in a quick-food, burger stand setting. Cost wise, It's pricier than the local chain burger stand around the corner with a single and a double burger with 2 sodas and 1 order of fries running us about $25. I'm ok paying that for what we got but not everyone might be. One thing I didn't really care for was the seating. The tall tiny-seated stools seemed particularly hard & uncomfortable. They leave most folks feet dangling with the micro ledge foot-rest really only being useful for child sized feet. Maybe they just don't want people "hanging-out" . I'm not a huge fan of sauces on my burger, but the one here is pretty good. The fries aren't anything special, but I do appreciate that they weren't too salty. Lightly fried, crispy and they serve well paired on the side. For beverage, I tried the Arnold Palmer. The lemonade is a little tart, but sweet and the tea helps balance it out. It was refreshing and hit the spot with my food. I remember when this location was Ernie's Drive-in back in the day. It was a popular place to stop by and grab some food. Yesterday I was able to check out the new burger hotspot. Every time I've driven by, the line(s) were just too darn long but that wasn't the case on this day. Service was great.
