I wish this place was in a more convenient location because it's that good. Thankfully i got parking in the small lot behind it so didn't have to drive around looking for parking. I ordered at the front which faces Chapala. There is seating facing Chapala as well as on the side with tables and umbrellas. My burger was delicious. I devoured it! You order at the window and they call your name when ready. My husband and I each ordered a cheeseburger with everything on it and a side of fries. Everything was ready within minutes. I really wanted to like Win-Dow but I was disappointed with the burgers. If you are an onion-lover, this may be more your thing. The burgers come with only pickles and onions as the toppings, so I asked for no onions and was told that there's no way to truly accommodate that since their whole grill is covered with them. I still wanted to see if it was worth the hype, they offered "light" onions, and then my burger proceeded to still be full of them. I think I would be surprised to see what a full serving of onions would be, but it is the dominating flavor of the burger regardless. Not my preference, especially when the onions were half raw still. The fries were crispy and the milkshake was okay, but seating is not comfortable in general. Was in Santa Barbara for some errands and saw this place mentioned on Instagram and as much as I worked in SB and visited I never knew about this place. What a find! The Win-Dow offers a great walk up menu for dine out or take out with some delicious items. The smash burger was very tasty as well as the double cheese smash burger, good size, great sauce, crisp pickles and a perfect sized fresh light bun. We shared an order of French fries which is plenty for two people. And they were amazing, fresh hot perfectly cut and putting most of the fast food players to shame. Our strawberry shake was made fresh with local strawberries and you could taste them. The home run was the prices, all the items were very inexpensive, not cuts to quality as well as quantity to meet their reasonably priced items. I have to say I have had a few smash burgers and was very fond of a particular food truck gone brick and mortar and I have found my new favorite. So if you are in Santa Barbara and your looking for the most excellent burger or cheese burger look no further than the Win-Dow you will not be disappointed nor broke afterwards. The Window has a very simple menu: cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and beauty burger(impossible), fries, shakes, and a couple salads. The impossible burger was delicious! I did not have the house sauce on my burger (thousand island style.. not my favorite) so I had their jalapeño aoli sauce instead! Soooo good! Ok, this place is so fun! Tried it out last night and their playlist was to die for. We sat outside at their high top tables, and the vibe was just so classic SoCal summer nights. Then came 12 minutes of waiting for a single burger when there wasn't a long line ahead of me when I ordered. The guy ahead of me in line actually got his order after me. Two stars because the actual burger itself was cooked really well, but the whole burger was extremely underwhelming. The bun was really thick and ice cold. It's not a pleasant experience to have a steaming hot burger on an ice cold bun. I don't know what happened there, but I would expect that that's not the normal to serve it with cold buns. This place is great! I've had the breakfast burrito with brisket, the double cheeseburger, fries, and the strawberry shake. Everything is very good and very fresh. My only complaint is the fries were slightly overcooked for my taste. Service is good and the workers are doing their best to handle the long lines during opening week. They actually gave me a cheeseburger instead of a double cheeseburger and corrected the mistake quickly once I told them what happened. They let me keep the single cheeseburger which was fantastic and exactly what other restaurants should do when they are at fault. The breakfast burrito is especially good because of the crispy potatoes (they actually crunch!) and the well seasoned, tender brisket. The burger is simple but tasty -- soft bun, well-seasoned patties, and pickles and onions that help tie it together. The strawberry shake has ample whipped cream and freeze dried strawberry as garnish. It's a bit sweet but that's what a milkshake is supposed to be. Overall, it's really delicious and features local strawberries. They have outdoor seating and the ambiance is very casual and coastal, like I'd expect from Santa Barbara. This is a great addition to downtown but I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity to close at 9 PM -- they should really be targeting the late night crowd as well. read more

Burgers are mediocre. I am mainly writing this review because they royally messed up our order last night. Simple order, we ordered a double cheese burger, a beauty burger (veggie burger) and two fries. We waited while customer after customer got their orders who ordered behind us. We wondered what was taking so long, but opted to be patient. Well after waiting for a good 30 minutes, and it wasn't busy. They finally called our name and said "sorry for the wait we threw in a free food coupon." Well now we know why. They clearly made two double cheese burgers, instead of a double and a veggie, and two fries, but didn't make the veggie burger till after. Two double cheese burgers were cold and smashed below the rock hard cold fries. Unfortunately, everything but the veggie burger were cold and the fries were hard as a rock. $35 bucks down the drain, but we got a free burger for next time! No bueno guys. Do better! Disappointing Experience - Not Worth the Hype Tried the newly opened Win~Dow Smashburger in Santa Barbara and honestly, it was a major letdown. I spent 30 minutes just to order and another 30 minutes to get my food--an entire hour wasted for what's supposed to be "fast food." I ordered the Double Cheeseburger , and it was extremely underwhelming. The patties were bland yet somehow way too salty, and the pickles piled on top made it even saltier. There was zero balance in flavor--just salt and disappointment. On top of that, I asked the girl at the counter if she could serve my lemonade with my food so I could enjoy both fresh together. She flat-out said they can't do that and handed me the drink right away. By the time my burger finally came out, the lemonade had turned into watery slush from the melted ice. What's the point? Really great tasting burgers in a similar style to Shake Shack but only better tasting and much cheaper at $4.50 for a cheeseburger - can't beat that. No indoor seating. Only outdoor seating so if you get cold early bring a jacket during winter months.
