The dipped cones here make me feel like a kid again. I really enjoyed the mechanism of the dipped cone and it tasted like a dream! We have a new burger joint in town and the smash burgers are not only affordable, but they are delicious!! I came for opening day and waited in line for almost two hours. Was it worth the wait? In all honesty, yes it was because I got a free double cheeseburger with purchase. I had time to kill, and wasn't in a hurry. I would recommend waiting for the hype to die down before trying it. Although, they are offering daily specials right now, and the prices are tempting. The burgers sit between two soft pillowy pieces of bread. The meat Pattie's aren't too salty and perfectly seasoned. I always get the special sauce on the side, because I don't like an overly sauced burger. It tends to get messy and takes away from the taste of the meat. I'm not a huge fan of sauces on my burger, but the one here is pretty good. The fries aren't anything special, but I do appreciate that they weren't too salty. Lightly fried, crispy and they serve well paired on the side. For beverage, I tried the Arnold Palmer. The lemonade is a little tart, but sweet and the tea helps balance it out. It was refreshing and hit the spot with my food. I remember when this location was Ernie's Drive-in back in the day. It was a popular place to stop by and grab some food. I love how the Win~Dow has revived this place! The patio area with green umbrellas and wooden tables are retro cool. I also like the small desk like chairs in front for waiting or eating. We came here for the first time while visiting Santa Barbara from the Bay Area. It was a short walk from our hotel and based on the good reviews we decided to give it a try. Yesterday I was able to check out the new burger hotspot. Every time I've driven by, the line(s) were just too darn long but that wasn't the case on this day. Service was great. The person who took my order was very polite and seemed happy taking my order. Although it wasn't totally packed--there were a number of people there, either sitting digesting their burger and fries or just people watching. The place is fairly new so the atmosphere and eating area were very clean. People seemed to be enjoying the whole experience. The hype about new food place can either make or break an experience. The burger was good-- basic, but good (maybe no cheese next time)! What I mean by basic is that it's definitely not going to keep me from going to other places in town instead. Stopped by on their opening week and decided to try their smash burger. Sadly for me the cons outweighed the good. I came in Friday afternoon during rush hour so I did wait 30 min just to place our order. If you plan on coming bring a hat or some shades because it is sunny waiting outside in line. It also took another 20 min to get our food once we ordered so be prepared to wait at least 1 hour during then opening week or during rush hours. It is very common for them to be busy on opening week but it could be a bit more organized. I think they should invest in having 2 ordering windows especially during summer time as people are in line waiting outside. The cashier was very friendly and spent $20 for 1 cheeseburger, 1 fried chicken sandwich, 2 fries, and 2 waters. They charge .10 cents for water cups and add a 3% optional fee to provide better wages for employees. You can have the charge removed as it is optional and I included a picture of our order. We also went on 1/2 off fry day and they will be hosting daily special this week. Sadly for me the taste and quality of the burger and fries was not there. The prices are very affordable but for me the burger was too salty and lacking some flavor. The fries were also overly done and too salty. Both fries were very dry and hard. I will say the fried chicken sandwich did have a great flavor so maybe opt for that choice instead. read more

2nd day open and we ended up walking right by long line caught our attention. The hype is real! We ordered sat down and somehow Sat next to Mr.Paul owner. He was very friendly and told us this is there first location is Santa Barbara, they have several spots in LA. Right behind me was Martin potato bread and I automatically knew this will be a GREAT burger! Ready for the mental picture... fluffy/airy bunds with two juicy patty's and in between is melted American cheese. The Win-Dow is good, very good. I've reviewed a lot of burgers in this town and the Win-Dow definitely rates. What I can't say is that it's inherently special or distinct. The double cheeseburger is a good choice if you're in the neighborhood and you want a good, fast burger but it doesn't rise the the level of "I'll go out of my way to get one" as a few other places in the area do. I'd certainly have to disagree with those that say it's "the best" smash burger in town because it isn't, buts it's about as good as you will get in a quick-food, burger stand setting. Cost wise, It's pricier than the local chain burger stand around the corner with a single and a double burger with 2 sodas and 1 order of fries running us about $25. I'm ok paying that for what we got but not everyone might be. One thing I didn't really care for was the seating. The tall tiny-seated stools seemed particularly hard & uncomfortable. They leave most folks feet dangling with the micro ledge foot-rest really only being useful for child sized feet. Maybe they just don't want people "hanging-out" . I wish this place was in a more convenient location because it's that good. Thankfully i got parking in the small lot behind it so didn't have to drive around looking for parking. I ordered at the front which faces Chapala. There is seating facing Chapala as well as on the side with tables and umbrellas. My burger was delicious. I devoured it! And the area around is super pretty to just watch cars go by, and sitting outside waiting is torture because it just smells so good. I already love The Win-Dow in Silver Lake so was thrilled to see a new location in Santa Barbara. I stopped for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. You order at the window and they call your name when ready. My husband and I each ordered a cheeseburger with everything on it and a side of fries. Everything was ready within minutes. Burgers were flavorful and full of pickles, grilled onions, cheese and sauce - absolute perfection! Fries were fresh and crispy. At $14.50 for everything, totally worth the value. I really like this location as it has plenty of seating and is located in a cute corner lot alongside a plant shop and coffee shop. I really wanted to like Win-Dow but I was disappointed with the burgers. If you are an onion-lover, this may be more your thing. The burgers come with only pickles and onions as the toppings, so I asked for no onions and was told that there's no way to truly accommodate that since their whole grill is covered with them. I still wanted to see if it was worth the hype, they offered "light" onions, and then my burger proceeded to still be full of them. I think I would be surprised to see what a full serving of onions would be, but it is the dominating flavor of the burger regardless. Not my preference, especially when the onions were half raw still. The fries were crispy and the milkshake was okay, but seating is not comfortable in general. Was in Santa Barbara for some errands and saw this place mentioned on Instagram and as much as I worked in SB and visited I never knew about this place. What a find! The Win-Dow offers a great walk up menu for dine out or take out with some delicious items. The smash burger was very tasty as well as the double cheese smash burger, good size, great sauce, crisp pickles and a perfect sized fresh light bun. We shared an order of French fries which is plenty for two people. And they were amazing, fresh hot perfectly cut and putting most of the fast food players to shame. Our strawberry shake was made fresh with local strawberries and you could taste them. The home run was the prices, all the items were very inexpensive, not cuts to quality as well as quantity to meet their reasonably priced items. I have to say I have had a few smash burgers and was very fond of a particular food truck gone brick and mortar and I have found my new favorite. So if you are in Santa Barbara and your looking for the most excellent burger or cheese burger look no further than the Win-Dow you will not be disappointed nor broke afterwards. Love the window. The food is great. However, the way they pack the food in the bags and fries with cheese is literally the worst. And it makes the experience not so great. The burgers get smashed together. The tray they cover the cheese fries with cause it to be directly stuck to the cardboard. They just recently stacked a burger with wax paper on the melted cheese and we are picking out the paper. Why on earth is the food still being packed this way? The Window has a very simple menu: cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and beauty burger(impossible), fries, shakes, and a couple salads. The impossible burger was delicious! I did not have the house sauce on my burger (thousand island style.. not my favorite) so I had their jalapeño aoli sauce instead! Soooo good!
