Didn't have high hopes for this diner, but I was proven wrong! This diner is located next to a Motel 6. It was very clean when we went. Customer service was very nice and attentive. The food was good for breakfast, like a diner kinda feel, cozy and warm! They also have pies that looked delicious but we were too full and far from home so couldn't take any to go :( We really enjoyed dinning here!

Everything was so delicious! I'm glad our little town has something like this for special occasions such as anniversaries, quite elegant. The cook and waitress both worked super efficiently and effectively. We were basically in and out in minutes. Truly a great experience! 10/10 recommend!

Was in town for the night and needed some quick dinner and this place was connected to the Motel 6 I was staying at. This place gets NO complaints from me. The server was super kind and helped me pick what to order. Gave me a water while I waited and offered me one to go. Gave me all the sauces I asked for, free of extra charge (rare nowadays). The food was absolutely banging. Took the other half of my sandwich on my hike the next day and it was still delish. Location is very convenient for travelers, and inside was nice for the ten-ish mins I was inside. Compliments to the chef and owner.

Today's review from your very own foody critic and backyard chef is about The Windmill Restaurant in Soledad, Ca. I love good food and quality service !! I am not affiliated with anyone at this restaurant and this is just my personal experience. First off walking in here we noticed it was very clean, tables wiped down, silverware placed and ready for customers. Waitress had a smile and seated us right away and got all our drinks. It was a bit noisy from a family with a few rambunctious kids being kids, but after they left, it was very quiet and tolerable. We haven't been here for about a year and thought we would give it a try again. During Covid, everything lacked quality, customer service and satisfaction. Today the food was absolutely delicious, prices $$$ as all places these days were a little high, with most burgers and pasta plates starting around $15.00-$25.00. I'm good with price as long as my experience is worth the expense. The owner (Jose) is opening another Windmill Restaurant I hear in Salinas, Ca. coming soon. The servers were very nice and very attentive, something that lacks nowadays. Waitress kept glasses full and checked on us if we needed anything. If you're in the area, give this place a try, well worth it and you'll leave feeling satisfied and amazed that little hole in the walls still exist with great folks and food. This place does some Italian, Mexican and American plates. Huge portions. You won't be disappointed, I gave this 4 Stars for noise and prices, but I assure you, it really is 5 Stars for the area.

As a Yelp elite, I am apprehensive about reviews not written by elites, since many times you can tell it's just people with an ax to grind and don't really use Yelp otherwise. We were driving up to monterey and needed a place to stop on the 101 for lunch. I usually don't go to places that are average under 3.9 or so unless it's a chain. This restaurant is right off the 101. The menu was fairly extensive, more options then I would have expected in a small town restaurant right next to a motel 6. They even had Harris ranch steak as dinner specials. We both ordered sandwiches. Both were pretty good, bread done nice and crunchy, fries crispy and tasty. Surprisingly many places can't do this correctly. The server was friendly and the restaurant itself fairly large. Very clean like others have said. Bathrooms also very clean. Lots of parking spaces in front. I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if I'm passing through. Recommended.

The restaurant is in a kind of stand alone shopping center.

The food is so delicious and tasty here. My husband and I decided to stop here before our trip to Monterey and it was the best decision that we could have made. I tried to take a picture of my food, but it was halfway finished by the time I thought of it lol the people are friendly nice cool like café atmosphere but it's very clean. Bathrooms are very clean and the food is super tasty.. Manager Jose Morneo. Chef: Carlos and Ruben.

The food was very good! The service was very good! Ignore the faded tacky sign in the front of the restaurant. Go on in!

While they were making our sandwiches, the portions were extremely small. For example, my grandfather's sandwich was given only about four pieces of onion. When he politely asked, "Can I please have a little more?" they added just one more slice. The bigger issue happened when my dad asked for a cup of water. The cashier, an older woman, pointed to a specific cup and indicated that it was the one to use for water. We filled it with only water, but when we checked out, they charged us for a drink cup anyway. We explained multiple times that the cup contained only water and reminded them that an employee had directed us to use that cup. We even showed them that it was just water, but they still insisted on charging us. I understand that language barriers can happen. My entire family are immigrants as well, and my grandparents don't speak much English, so this is not meant as criticism of anyone's language or accent. However, the communication was poor, and instead of listening when we tried to clarify the misunderstanding, the staff dismissed what we were saying. Overall, the customer service left us frustrated, and the experience was not what we expected. It's a cleanly spot for sure, and no complaints about the ambience.

If…read moreyou're looking for authentic Mexican food and incredible fresh-baked pastries, I honestly don't think you'll find anything better in town. The bakery is attached to the café, and you can actually watch the bakers at work through the large windows facing the street. Everything is unbelievably fresh--from sticky buns and chocolate muffins to cream cheese and raspberry-filled croissants. It's almost impossible to leave with just one treat! The made-to-order burritos and plates are outstanding. The flavors are authentic, the portions are generous, and you can tell everything is made with care. The ladies at the counter are always warm, welcoming, and bilingual, so even if you don't speak Spanish, ordering is easy and comfortable. They make everyone feel right at home. Because it's so popular with the locals, there can be a line during busy times--but don't let that discourage you. The service moves quickly, and it's well worth the wait. There is plenty of seating both inside and on the outdoor patio, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. The self-serve coffee is fresh and high quality, with fresh milk and all the fixings available.
