Made a reservation for 15 on Fathers Day the day prior and they gave our table away. I understand things get busy, however the manager was untruthful. He claimed we couldn't be seated because they were waiting for some guests to leave and finish eating. However, the table they had apparently set aside for my family had just been seated and not even served water. I've eaten here before and their food is on par with Denny's, and if the manager lies, can you really be certain about the quality of your food or service? read more

OMG, just stopped here by dumb luck on our way down south from Carmel. My breakfast was spectacular! The menu provided a huge choice, but I'm glad I settled on their really good version of my favorite: chilaquiles. Yum for days! Our waitress named Chavonne was a sweetheart. Yummmmmy! We were headed to Denny's on our way home from an awesome weekend in Carmel, and we happened to drive past this gem. It is clean, has a cute diner feel and good food. My family and I came for breakfast and it was excellent. We were heading home from an RV camping weekend and it was nice to be able to park the rig in the back. Not sure if the parking lot was meant for that but it looks like it was to facilitate big rigs. Either way it was a breeze parking, and the staff was extremely nice. The restaurant was extremely clean and the food was relatively inexpensive and was served expeditiously. I would highly recommend the Windmill Restaurant and will definitely be visiting again if we are in the area. We received the recommendation from the Yanks RV Resort staff just down the road and were not disappointed. read more

Basic little diner similar to a Denny's in Soledad, CA. Had to meet a client here the other day and discuss some business. I had the French dip and found the bread and meat fresh and delicious. Service was excellent as well. I would rate this above average compared to competitors in the area. I ordered the steak sandwich. It was very tasty and the food was hot! Which means it was freshly made. The food here is good just like people say. That gets points from me. 5/5 and the prices are what you expect. Unfortunately, good food can be found anywhere. The service here wasn't too good. Once entering the restaurant, we weren't greeted until 15 minutes later. The atmosphere was gloomy. There were empty, but dirty tables which weren't cleaned unless we asked. Keep in mind we came at around 6pm, and it wasn't busy at all. The lady who took our order didn't smile, and I understand why some people don't, but her mannerisms ans body language gave off a "I'm tired and dont want to be here" vibe. We waited 40 minutes for our order to arrive. Then another 5 minutes for the side of bread To be brought out. The restrooms were dirty. Water was spilled everywhere on floors and counters, stalls had toilet paper scattered on the ground. Seat cover boxes and some toilet paper rolls were empty. Maybe some people will say we came at a bad time but I find that's no excuse for bad service. I wouldn't want to come back here. I wouldn't recommend it either. Despite my comments, if you do decide to come here, make sure you have ample time to sit and eat. If you're in a hurry, then go to the McDonalds nearby. read more

I came here towards the end of a long road trip looking for a hot meal. I got a side of rice and vegetables to go. The servers were very kind and helpful, and the price was super reasonable. They gave me a very generous portion and the food was delicious. So glad I stopped by Windmill Restaurant. Whenever I pass by again on my journeys I will definitely stop here. Five stars. read more

The restaurant was wonderful, normally stop in Pismo on our trip up north. Decided to take a new route! Stopped here and the waitress was so friendly and personable and the food was delicious! Beer was cold and she even gave us cold glasses(and don't get that often). I arranged for a family lunch after my daughter's high school graduation on June 10. It was a good-sized party and I reserved the front banquet room. Without going into too many unnecessary details, I just want to say that the entire experience was wonderful. They were accommodating, and helped make the celebration perfect. We were able to customize our own menu, we decorated the room and had a great time. The food was excellent -- everyone enjoyed it-- and our waitress was amazing. Was here for a work-related meeting. Nice small private room in the front. Plenty of parking. Staff made sure to add tables and chairs for us as needed. The party menu had multiple choices. This is my family's go-to place when we don't feel like cooking at home and man oh man we always leave satisfied. The host always greets/seats us right away. We get our orders taken pretty quickly. The food is super delicious! I personally love the San Francisco Chicken Pesto! I literally get it every time we go there! The only good thing i can say about this place is our waitress was very nice. But other than that i wasn't a fan. First of all. On the kids menu there was misspelled words. Dollar was spelled "Dolalr" and French was spelled "Frensch" and i believe Spaghetti was misspelled also. And i asked for an extra egg and i did not get that. But the chef claimed i did. We had to get our own silverware from another table it was just a mess here. And it wasn't even busy! I recommend not coming here if youre low on patience. Was very pricey for what you get as well. 10$ for egg whites and an english muffin! Outrages! read more

Food is good and local ingredients are used. Usually a bit lonely during the week. But would recommend and staff is nice.

I have been quiet about this for a while but the food has been declining , at least this has been the case with my favorite dish, the fish and chips. I take out every time and over the last couple months the fish has gotten smaller and way over breaded. I had to ask how much the weight of the fish is supposed to be as it has been reduced to very thin slices and over breaded to the point where there is hardly any meat. I used to get an even mix of vegetables; broccoli, carrots, squash, celery, that's no longer the case as more than a few occasions I've received only broccoli and maybe one carrot and one squash. I hope this hasn't been the case for everyone. In my last 4 trips this has been an issue. Shout out to Jose the proprietor, he is very understanding and makes things right! I really felt a certain way about this as it has been disappointing, inconvenient and embarrassing for me to have to point this out. recently having the pleasure of driving up from santa barbara all the way to danville- with thought it would be a good idea to find a decent place to eat that was something other then the standard fast food chains speckled along the highway- so the misses did some research and found The Windmill this aint a fancy place, but if you are stuck in the car for a few hours driving i doubt you care- reasonable prices and good food with a little mix of everything to choose from- we ate there on the way up and decided it was good enough for us to hit on the way back down. should really only get 3 stars for the food, but the friendly service really bumps it up a notch read more

My dish was fantastic!y family went in for a early dinner, so the restaurant was not packed. I only give a 4 star because the service was horrible. Our waitress obviously did not like her job. I had to go to the counter with our drinks for a refill because she never came back. We were her only table too. Go for the food, but the waitstaff isn't good... Really good food. Huge portions, fresh, cooks are doing a good job. Service sucks. I sat at the bat and was largely ignored. The manager is eating dinner with family/friends and the waitresses are too busy or don't really know how to do any better.. Stopped by on our way home from San Francisco. Read some reviews and was looking forward to it. Found the food to be mediocre. Had the steak and coconut shrimp. I felt the steak was over cooked and over seasoned while the shrimp was the opposite. It could have used more seasoning and a little more time cooking. It came with an unappetizing looking pina colada dipping sauce which didn't taste very good. I was unimpressed overall with the quality of the food, especially for the price.
