My experience with wreck room was more than I expected. It's character, integrity & honesty that I value whenever I'm about to be financially independent on any institution. Met Bob at the door to view my situation with vehicle. Bob was professional explaining what might have to be done on repairs. Than we proceeded to look at door opening problem with vehicle. Bob took a moment after seeing door (driver dr.) & said he'd be right back. He returned with bodyshop tool & corrected door opening with careful pressure on concerned area. I was prepared to apply for car rental & navigate my way for a few days expecting much more from this situation. I am reposting this review after I received an email from Yelp stating their moderators removed it "because it didn't look like it described an experience at this location." As you will see, I put the name Wreck Room in the first line, so Yelp moderators, yes this is for the Wreck Room at 207 St Charles Rd, in Villa Park. This review is for the Wreck Room as they rent U-Haul trucks. This place charged me for over 100 miles on their truck for a move that was less than 30. I was charged $95 more than I should have been. When I called to ask them about it I got little help and was directed to the corporate office. We'll see where I get with them. They apparently don't verify the mileage on the way out, so make sure you do. The truck was also a really rough ride and they don't have a way to secure the dolly inside the 26' truck so that thing was sliding all around inside while I was driving it to my old house. I had a much better experience with the U-Haul on Roosevelt Rd. that I used the weekend before. Not as nice of a location but they knew what they were doing. *Update: Corporate U-Haul refunded the overcharge. read more

I had never had to get work done on my car before as a result of an accident (well, there was just a ding and some scratches), but these guys made it really easy. They were very professional despite all my questions and going back and forth with the lady who caused the ding and scratches. Don and Bob made the process smooth, and my car looks fantastic now! I had a car door that needed to be repaired due to burglary damage. Wreck Room put me in a rental car right there on site (Hertz) with no fuss or delay, which is VERY convenient and was necessary for me to get to work while the car was being repaired. The repair was perfect, and the service exceptional. They car was fully cleaned before it was returned to me also! Wreck Room is also on my insurance company's Select Service Repair Facility list so that also made the assignment/estimating process even more convenient. Don Murphy is definitely one of the good guys. There was a followup issue I noticed with the car antenna, and Don went above and beyond to resolve it, which is what really compelled me to write about my great experience at Wreck Room. Seems like a small thing but that attention to detail is what differentiates good businesses from great ones. Not that it would matter to most people, but their restroom is large and immaculate. I recently called here because the insurance that's covering my rental car while my car gets fixed (NOT at wreck room) referred me to them because they came up as a hertz rental car facility. When I called the man that answered was EXTREMELY rude to me. I drive a mini van and need 3 rows and when I asked him if he had that available his response was, 'I don't have anything with 3 rows but if you get your van fixed here I'll give you whatever car you want.' So he wouldn't acvomaste me because they weren't fixing my car? Then I made a comment about accidents being a pain to deal with to which he says, 'it's only a pain if you make it a pain.' He made other rude side comments the entire conversation, so much so that I'm writing this review. There's no reason for his attitude with me. I felt very disrespected. read more

Nice and communicated with me, but they half a$$ their job, didn't realize this until a year later when I brought my car to the dealer and they noticed my headlamp was zip tied! So because this place didn't do their job properly I had to pay for a new headlamp. Just make sure you check what they supposedly say they worked on. read more

We lived in Villa Park for seven years, and The Wreck Room was our go-to mechanic. We had issues with the dealership where we purchased our vehicle, and Don, Bob, and the rest of the crew took care of us. It's hard to find a consistently superb service provider these days, but The Wreck Room manages to be top-notch every time. They also provide exceptional value. We never got nasty surprises, they were always very upfront about fees, the availability of parts, timeline for fixing the vehicles, and were great about calling quickly if anything happened that we hadn't planned on. This place is awful. Three times in a row they didn't know who I was when I called (when they had my car). They broke the things on my hood that hold the hood up and when this was pointed out to them by another mechanic they refused to fix it. They left a giant white hard stain on my driver side floor that I have to spend time scrubbing out, if that is even possible. They wrote up all kinds of work on the front bumper and fender that was not damaged after the accident., as to get more money from my insurance company (state farm). The mechanic I am going to now to fix their damage says he will never recommend this place to another person and neither will I. The amount of money they make off insurance companies for these poor performances is probably the only reason they are still in business. Pick another body shop. read more

About a month ago, I was coming home from a long day at work and hit a deer running across the road. Personally I was good, but my car was very damaged and barely drive-able.
