Wanted to try something different so we stopped by here. I ordered the Snoop Dog with Fried Brussels Sprouts. The Snoop Dog was flavorful, especially with the maple honey mustard. Their Fried Brussels Sprouts were the best brussels sprouts I've ever had. They were crunchy and had a tasty balsamic glaze over it. It was a pretty large portion and I ate the whole thing by myself. Very messy and I couldn't get the hotdog to stay somewhat together. I had to just give up and use a fork to it that way. The hotdogs do have a lot of flavor which I appreciated. Driving by the cute name caught my eye and even a vegetarian could figure out what they were selling inside. My husband loves all manner of sausages, wieners, brats and dogs... so let's check with the Yelp squad and see what they all say... Ok then good reviews. Walk all the way in to the register to order. The menu board is easy to read while you're in line, and to the right is a case with all your sausage choices. The menu describes the sausage and gives a list of toppings. I went with the Provincial, a French influenced sausage and kept it simple with fresh sauerkraut. The sausage had great flavor and a nice snap. The sauerkraut, delicious. Jeremy tried the Beer sausage and was more than pleased with it and the fresh bun. You have several choices for dining- eat in, on the patio, or on the street patio. Pick a place after you order and they'll bring your food to you. It's not fast food, it takes a bit to throughly cook sausage. So while you wait you can enjoy one of their many beers on tap or even a glass of wine. There's very little street parking. Many restaurants and tasting rooms in the area have created extended spaces during covid curbside. But almost across the street is a very large public lot that is free for up to 3 hours. I was unaware and apologetic as we ordered at 2:45 and learned from the cashier that they would be closing at 3:00. I offered to cancel the order, but the cashier was so nice and said that it would take them a bit to clean up so we shouldn't worry. She said just don't feel uncomfortable when we start cleaning up around you and I appreciated that level of communication. What a cool, casual and unique dining experience that geographically competes with Michelin star restaurants and world class wine tastings. I've heard positively of The Wurst often in Sonoma County foodie scene, however this time as a Yelper it was much more personal. I took my guest, a California transplant from Wisconsin, here in attempts to convince him there IS a piece of his home on the West Coast. The Wurst is fast casual dining, with sixteen beers on tap and a sausage based menu that imports brats from Chicago and Wisconsin. Prices and service were great. The food was certainly memorable and full of flavor. I had the Smash burger, which was delicious. My Cheesehead guest had the Green Bay brat and garlic fries which he said were reminiscent of his midwestern homeland. The beauty of the food scene here is that it is varied and can please even the common folk. I am so glad Healdsburg offers the Wurst, which appeals to a wider crowd, families, and even the pups we consider one of our own. Everything that was great about The Wurst before is now gone; robust menu of hotdogs/wursts, casual atmosphere, and reasonable prices. It's now just another overpriced location near the plaza with a very slim menu. I'm posting a photo of the menu since I believe the name is now misleading. I paid $16 for a burger I could have gotten in at least two other locations in Healdsburg for cheaper. Also I really wanted a hotdog but there was only one option on the menu. Tried a place called "The Wurst" this afternoon. Hours later my "gut bomb" of a meal is still in my stomach like a cement stone. I had their chili dog and garlic fries with a soda. Waitstaff was friendly, restaurant clean, different mustards and sauces available but my Sweet Italian sausage wasn't that great. The menu says the buns are locally made and the bun was also an issue I had. It looked and tasted like a basic bun, which is not bad but I expected more. Four of us went there yesterday around 1pm and I didn't find any of the issues other reviews have mentioned. There were only two employees that handled our orders and all was quick and efficient even with a slow but steady flow of customers. The young lady taking the orders was courteous, the place was clean and there were enough tables inside to keep distanced from others. Two ordered Brats and two of us ordered Burgers. The Cheeseburger and garlic fries were nicely cooked, the fry oil was obviously fresh and the Racer 5 beer was fresh tasting so the taps are obviously properly cleaned in the evening. My wife enjoyed the Detroit Polish and enjoyed it, brother in law got the Smoked Beer sausage and enjoyed it, sister in law got the Smashburger and enjoyed it but would order it next time with BBQ sauce on the side. The fries were crispier than the garlic fries so if you don't like somewhat "soft" fries stick to the regular fries. A third employee, (the owner?), spelled the young lady so she could have lunch so staffing was fine for that point in time. Located along Matheson Street mere footsteps from Healdsburg Plaza, the park that serves as a central gathering spot in downtown Healdsburg. Founded ten years ago by Charles Bell, whose midwestern roots prepared him to open a sausage and beer garden in the heart of Sonoma's wine country, The Wurst recently went through an ownership change in the past few months. But thankfully the quality of the franks has remained high thanks to their continuation of importing their franks from areas known for their quality such as Sheboygan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, South Detroit, Chicago and Louisiana. They pride themselves on their sausages that they to this day they still showcase the variety of sausages they grill day in and day out in a glass case right below their menu. I've been to The Wurst a couple of times both before and after a visit to one of the many wine tasting rooms in Healdsburg and what keeps me coming back every time is the ease of ordering thanks to the accessible menu filled with an abundance of grilled sausage options, not to mention a nice array of sides and drinks ranging from milkshakes to beers on tap and of course wine. What I also love about The Wurst is that it's fast casual ordering and serving which makes getting lunch, especially when you're in between wine adventures super easy. And the time I went on a sunny Sunday afternoon was no different, except that they are socially distancing and allowed only outdoor dining during this time with extended outdoor seating under the sun onto Matheson Street and limited patio seating as they would normally have at The Wurst, but slightly partitioned off for safety purposes. There so many options when it comes to sausages on the menu at The Wurst that it can be overwhelming. But I definitely had a craving when it came to this particular visit as I had a serious craving for a Bratwurst and the Sheboygan Brat was simply calling my name. You have the options of two toppings with each dog, lest you want to pay extra, and I so selected sweet peppers and sauerkraut as my toppings. To round out my meal, I ordered a side of garlic fries, which is made with fresh garlic and parmesan. My total bill for these two items was $15.23, which wasn't necessarily affordable, especially since I ordered a sausage and fries and nothing else, but I still thought why not as The Wurst's franks are certainly worth it. What wasn't necessarily worth it was the long wait for my food, and I do mean long as apparently I came during the busy time and it took almost twenty five minutes for my food to be ready. Standing around with my order transponder waiting for my food was a little unnerving as there was really no room to social distance in front of their restaurant as others started queuing up to both order and wait for their food for both takeout and outdoor eating at their location. When my food came out in their own biodegradable take out boxes I looked around for places to eat and at The Wurst since it was lunchtime, there was no place to safely sit down, so I walked across Healdsburg Plaza with my takeout bag in hand and ate one of the many outdoor metallic dining table settings that the city has set up well before the pandemic began, which was really nice. My Brat, although a little greasy, was wonderful as the kick from the sauerkraut and sweet peppers only added to the overall flavor of my lunch. There was so much sausage that I could barely dive into my garlic fries so I saved those for a later meal, and after toasting them in my toaster, they were as good as new! Is The Wurst best bang for your buck when it comes to dining in the tony community of Healdsburg? That's debatable, but what I can say they provide a decent meal that can be quick, depending on the time of day you order your entrée. Good chicken bacon sandwich and Blue Burger (blue cheese) You must try the onion rings and garlic fries (with all the mustard varieties they offer) Kids meals are filling varied and delicious. First impressions: Came here on what i thought would be a busy saturday afternoon. There was plenty of seating both in & outdoors. The outdoor seating can get alittle loud due to the fact that Matheson St is literally right there, as is the walking traffic but its still a nice area to sit enjoy your food, beer and company. Ordering: The ordering process is actually pretty easy. They have the menu hanging on the door for newcomers and once you get inside to order they have larger menus hanging over the register. Order your food, pay, get a number, pick your spot & they'll bring your food to you. Easy. Food: Im a non pork eater and it was nice to see that they offer chicken & even 1 veggie one. I had the chicken italian, it did not disappoint, they have plenty of different toppings that you can choose from, so go wild & experiment. The garlic fries were alittle more on the hard side, but still had great flavor! We had some ice cream afterwards, one scoop was $3.50 i believe. Wasnt worth it, chocolate is chocolate, mint chip is mint chip...theres nothing special about their ice cream. Skip if you can, plenty of other places to get ice cream in Healdsburg. Cons: Cant say a lot really, only things that was alittle annoying was that the menu hanging on the door didnt match the sausages they had available so i didnt really see the reasoning behind hanging one. read more
