Cool little place! I went here recently with my friends after a day of wine tasting. Oddly enough I didn't get a hotdog but the Smash Burger they have. It was really good. The burger didn't wow me where I felt the need to write 5 paragraphs on how good it is. But it was definitely legit. Reminded me of In and Out but with a bigger patty which is always a good thing because I love me some In and Out! It didn't take long for us to get our food. At least it didn't seem like long. The chicken sausage wasn't very popular in my opinion so make sure you pick out a good one. The burger was good, but it has a vinegar taste to it for some reason. Not my favorite. The name of this place cracks me up. In the high price touristy section of Healdsburg there is the Wurst restaurant specializing in bratwurst. The Wurst might have the best wursts you've eaten. It is a relaxed casual family friendly place. You order at the counter. The brat had a nice flavor, not overpowering. It was grilled and served in a grilled sesame seed bun topped with sauerkraut. The sauerkraut is the cooked variety, the kind that is cooked to a slightly sour sweet taste. Yum! The sauerkraut was outrageously delicious. It is also topped with beer mustard and little itty bitty onion rings. The brat was delicious. My problem is with the Wurst. Nice toppings, soft bun, are cancelled out by a bland, dry, really flavorless Wurst. Specifically, the Green Bay Brat ($12.50). BBQ Sauce, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, pickles aren't magic, and cannot raise the dead. The bacon, well, if you closed you eyes, and tried it, you wouldn't know it was supposed to be bacon. The same goes for the Lamb Sausage ($9.50) ... indistinguishable from the Wurst. The Chili-Cheese Fries ($7.00) were good. Hey, clean unisex bathroom, fairly comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff are really friendly and accommodating, and there are some interesting brews and wines available. The place is neat looking, clearly the brainchild of someone deeply into sports--the owner was gruff and seemed irritable at first, but was working hard and greeted customers nicely. Much less pretentious than nearby restaurants, and very casual. Like many, I did not have a pleasant experience with the young girl running the register, who addressed us like she had better things to do... We tried several different sausages, and while the flavor was definitely great, the casing didn't have that serious 'snap' I'm used to from an amazing sausage. The sauerkraut was okay, a bit mild, while I had a super surprise angry hot spicy pepper in my sweet peppers--might want to be more careful, guys...the beer mustard was good. The curry ketchup was a bit too sweet for my taste. Garlic fries were slightly disappointing. Overall, it's a decent place that's a little rough around the edges. I'm Keto right now and I tried to make the best order for my calories needed and so I ordered the Chicago chili dog minus bun add the cheddar cheese and coleslaw! The ambiance is cool, the seats inside hurt your butt as soon as you sit so it's not very inviting to just chill there to eat unfortunately. The lady who took my order was friendly and if I were to guess she was the owner. Wait time was not bad for all the cook to order they do. My order was missing the raw onion that is listed as an ingredient and I love raw onions on my chili but rather than that I think they were super thoughtful with the to-go packaging for my order by placing the chili in a side dish! It comes with two toppings on a nice seeded roll, we both went with the caramelized onions and sweet peppers. We also shared a side of hand cut fries. Though his was good, I really loved my Provencial Pig. The white wine and shallots made the sausage so flavorful and I loved the caramelized onions and sweet peppers adding a sweet element to the salty savory sausage. The fries were totally fresh and were delectable too. Just wished they were fried for a tad longer to get a little more color on them. Wish I knew about the different dips that came with the fries though, like truffle aioli, since I'm such a truffle fan, that would've been awesome. But the fries were still great with just plain 'ol ketchup. I wish that there was one down by our way. There was a Top Dog across the street from my college campus, which my friends and I used to like..well...that doesn't even compare to Wurst. Maybe the worst, but definitely gross. Could not finish it. It literally felt weird on my teeth. BF said it tasted like they had frozen the meat for a long time and then defrosted it.
