I had 7 window treatments installed yesterday and am very happy with the fresh appearance they give to our old house. The owner Jack streamlined the decision making process for this mix of Hunter Douglas verticals and Alta faux wood vinyl blinds so that the colors blend perfectly. Ace installer Mark and Sean showed me how to use the unfamiliar cords for different open/close options. The only thing I don't like is that I have to use two hands on the cord to twist open the lovely luminettes. They were also expensive but I'm satisfied with money well spent. read more

Other reviews seemed positive, so I was glad to make an appointment with Jack to install Plantation Shutters throughout our home. We set an appointment for "between 1 and 2pm." I scrambled around on other errands to make sure I was back home by 1pm. Upon arriving home I found a missed phone call (from just 30 minutes prior, I was on another conference call) and a text message (I don't text while driving) saying he would arrive in 30-45 minutes. When I saw the text (maybe 20-30 min after it was sent, and still before 1PM), I responded that I was confirmed. He then responded that I was too late and he'd taken another customer, and maybe he could see me on Friday. ANNOYING that we had spoken days ago, booked an appointment, I had re-arranged things to accommodate, and then he was a no show, presumably because I didn't confirm his text within few enough minutes. read more

Jack brought samples to the home,walled through options, provided guidance when asked, etc. He walked through different set-up and pros and cons of various chii es. Beautiful custom curtains. An absolute pleasure to work with and made everything easy for us.

I would contact the Yardstick for all of my window treatment needs. From the beginning, Jack was quick and easy to communicate with. He installed custom drapes for our sliding door. Less than a year later, the curtain rod was problematic. Jack came out, figured out what was wrong, and replaced the rod free of charge. We also have electronic shades that Jack installed 3 years ago. Last month, the cap on one of the battery wands broke and couldn't be screwed back on. I texted Jack to see if he could get us another one. It had been over 2 years since I spoke to him, yet he replied timely. He was able to find one in his supplies for us and gave it to us for free once again. He does timely, quality work that he stands by over time. When the time comes to replace our current shades and blinds, I will definitely be calling Jack. read more

I drove about 30 miles to the "showroom" address on the website (this was a referral from a family member) only to find a store called 'Sign-o-Rama'. Apparently The Yardstick doesn't have a shop anymore and one has to do this online and on the phone. So I called the phone number, and I got an answering service promising to call me back. I said, "how long will it take to call back" and she said, "a short while". Uhm. Ok. Then I said, "like today?" and she said, "oh definitely." I also asked about the mysterious showroom and she said, "oh, they come to your house" (like to rob me?). So the whole experience thus far has been a little weird. I'm still waiting for a call back, and I am wondering what business would not remove their showroom address from the website. read more

Last year we went looking for finishing ideas for our home remodel. We stopped at another house that our contractor was finishing up and met Jack from Yardstick who was installing new blinds in the house. His work looked really good and he was a super nice guy, so when we neared the end of our project, we asked him to come over and see what he could do for us. He brought several ideas and examples with him and helped us finalize our blinds plan. He took measurements and a few weeks later they came out and installed the blinds throughout our house and we were very pleased. Fast forward to a week or two ago. Our crazy dog chewed through a couple of blind slats and broke the string. I called up the Yardstick, figuring it would be a while before this problem got resolved. Boy, was I wrong. Jack said he was going to be in the area that day and would come by and pick up the blinds, ship and get them in for repair. We are quite pleased with that kind of response. In fact yesterday we received notice that our blinds were done and were being shipped back to us. All in all an excellent experience.
