Yellow Deli: First off, of course, is the food. Being a vegan I have too be quite choosy with my restaurant choices. As I walked into Yellow Deli I felt the obvious vibe that goes hand in hand with a health conscious eatery. More like a natural foods place. What i really thought was this was going to be a mediocre restaurant at best. I knew I would leave satisfied but that it would 't be much more than that. . Now, this is not a vegan restaurant, far from it actually, but the few vegan options they do have are absolutely delightful! The Flatirons Special is incredible! A veggie burger on a vegan Kaiser Roll with sprouts, tomato, avocado and an absolutely amazing garlic spread. Did I say amazing? I should have said divine. It was delicious. To wash it all down I had their green tea Yerba Mate which was better than I imagined it would be. And now we come to dessert. They do have a one vegan option and several others as well, but I was not able to try it as I was full from lunch. That "burger" was a home run for me, and it filled me up, no small task. All in all, I will absolutely be back. It helps that they are open 24hrs from Sunday-Friday 3pm and then they are closed for sabbath. My suggestion? The food is delicious, I love their gluten free bread, the atmosphere is unique, cozy and warm, and they're open at odd hours when other restaurants are not. The place is just a good idea. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. The people that work there are devoutly religious/spiritual which you will notice by the way the ladies dress. No mini skirts there. It is a refreshing experience. The only down side is their hours. Open from Sunday 3:00pm to Friday at 3:00pm. Horrible business model which they do to practice their faith... Yum. The Yellow Deli fits a niche that is missing in Boulder: affordable, delish, fresh eats in a down-to-earth atmosphere. When I first came here, I got the spring chicken sandwich and the banana almond milk, and they are both so good, I can't bring myself to branch out. I even dig the unique atmosphere, its such a refreshing change from all the places on Pearl where the waiter has tight pants and a mustache and looks over your head when he talks to you. I was hoping this would become a regular lunch spot for me. However, I now come with a baby. And I got the feeling, multiple times, that I was not welcome here with my baby. This is a little gem - but of course, just about all the restaurants in Boulder are little gems! The Yellow Deli is small, cozy and nestled between a pet rescue shop and The West End Tavern. It is run by The Twelve Tribes, but don't worry about trying to be converted. If you like Bluegrass and country/folk, you'll enjoy their music as well. all their breads, muffins, cookies, etc. are made from scratch and are delicious. A recent vegetarian, I chose the Yellow Submarine, a vegetarian sub. I added avocado and havarti cheese to my sandwich. I also ordered their wonderful hibiscus cooler. The sandwich was huge and DELICIOUS, filled with sprouts, peppers, onions, greens and black olives and served with their spread of the week - a yummy sundried tomato spread. Hubby ordered a turkey and pastrami sub, equally good he said. We split a raspberry/coconut macaroon muffin that was sinfully delectable! I also ended up purchasing two boxes of their special Yerba Mate tea. The Yellow Deli is open 24 hrs. Sunday afternoon - Friday noon. Don't miss this for a casual, yummy, inexpensive lunch or dinner - as late as you want. read more

I like the unique atmosphere ( like a cozy hobbit home). It feels very peaceful and the staff never makes you feel like you are staying too long, when coming with a book or to study . Love this place! Everything is home made from the bread to the restaurant. They specialize in Maté tea which they grow and harvest themselves from a farm in Brazil. Sitting at the Yellow Deli. Thought it was a coffee shop, so my plan was to study for the GREs and drink coffee all day... (The worst kind of customer)! Wonderful atmosphere, great tunes, a quiet and friendly staff. Feeling compelled to buy lunch, I have been peeking at the menu (THAT LOOKS FANTASTIC) but... I felt completely and utterly compelled to write a review when a kind server filled my second cup of coffee, and told me not to feel like I should have to eat, and would just like me to feel comfortable. As a very picky eater I have to say it doesn't get much better. Whether you just want a drink a cup of tea, or eat a sandwich, this charming little hole in the wall is great.
