I'd probably give Yellow Deli 3 stars for being comfy and good food but I'm docking them a star for lackluster service today. It's a cute, comfortable place with a hippy vibe. The menu is limited - sandwiches, salads, some desserts. That's fine because we wanted a quick, light lunch. The service was not too good. Our waitress didn't ask us for our choices for optional items on the menu, e.g. whether we wanted chips or veggies with a sandwich, salad dressing. I could understand them not asking If there was a default choice on the menu but that wasn't the case. We waited a long time for a turkey sandwich and a chef salad, probably 15 minutes, and the restaurant wasn't particularly crowded. The waitress never came to refill drinks or give a food update. Another person, possibly the manager, came by and refilled our teas. The food was fine. Just wish the service was better. read more

The Yellow Deli is an incredibly interesting establishment. It has a notably unique atmosphere. The employees are all part of a belief system, which strongly influenced their demeanor. They are polite, but seem disconnected from cultural norms. All in all, if you go here you will notice a hippie, environmental, free-spirit ambiance. If you are comfortable with that, the food is pretty good. Had the reuben, and loved the sauerkraut. I definitely enjoy the food here, but the atmosphere can sometimes make me feel uncomfortable (I have nothing against them though!). read more

The paintings on the wall draw me in every time I go in there. The staff is friendly though a little slow. They take things relaxed and if you go in, you should too. It's a very relaxed place and that's a strength more than a weakness. Get the sandwiches. My favorite is the reuben. I also like the non-caffeinated Rooibos hot tea. read more

I really like the Yellow Deli. When I have people visiting, I like to take them here to show them a nice hippie place in Boulder. The artwork and ambience is really cool (and all hand made) and the food is good, also. Their hours are weird but so far they've only been weird in a convenient way.... Happened upon here on a visit to boulder when I was looking around pearl street for lunch. Lovely atmosphere - just hokey enough to be charming but not so much as to be overbearing. The interior is country house meets new age hippies. I loved every bit of it. The staff was super friendly and borderline geriatric. Everybody there seemed to have a smile on their face and a great attitude to match it. I had a pretty darn good Reuben too with a press of Yerba mate. Rare sight to see both on a menu and for that I am delighted. Highly recommended! Definitely will be coming back next time I'm in town. read more

We returned to the Yellow Deli, having had a good experience when we were in Boulder a year ago. Unfortunately, the food was not as good. One of us had a sandwich, which was good, but two of us ordered salads which were disappointing. I ordered a Cobb salad with turkey. The salad was primarily greens with 3 slices of pre-packaged turkey sandwich meat on top. For the price, the size of the salad was small. The other salad was equally disappointing. It is absolutely a work of art. The ambience is peaceful and rustic with warm lighting and mellow folk music playing quietly over hidden speakers. We had their iced Yerba Mate (excellent and strong, with free refills!), 2 salads (lots of fresh, crisp "stuff" in addition to the greens), and the meat chili (delicious, medium spicy, perfect). This is one of my husband and I's favorite little restaurants around Boulder. Everything we've tried is absolutely delicious, especially the sandwiches and chili. It's extremely affordable, even though it's on Pearl Street. The service is always outstanding, everyone is always friendly and making small talk and ensure you are truly enjoying your food. Honestly haven't had a single thing from here I wouldn't order again. It's very relaxing and there's usually a few people inside on their laptops doing work or homework while having a bite to eat and sipping on tea. I've even seen a couple bring in a board game to play. Definitely worth a visit to this place. read more

This place was SO GOOD. Let's start from walking in. It's on pearl street and has some outdoor seating which is nice. You go in to place your order and omg I felt like I was in a little fairy world it was so cute and whimsical I loved it! Now the staff was ALL SO kind! My mom sister and I all made our own sandwiches and can't really remember exactly what we got. I think mine was turkey and pepper jack with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and sprouts (the sprouts are a must I loved them) on an egg roll which I'd never tried but I loved it oh and i got the garlic mayo on the side and i highly recommend that!! I have always heard good things about this deli and finally made my way in. It's wonderful! Very cozy inside with lots of dark wood and dim corners. Soothing harp music played. Lots of yummy sounding sandwiches and salads on the menu. I had the spring chicken salad on their gluten free rice bread which was surprisingly moist and tasty. This place is adorable! There's actually multiple locations across the globe (lots in the U.S. and some as far as Australia!) and each one is designed with a sort of hobbit house style and lots of hippy quotes on the walls. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. There are lots of options for sandwiches, our favorite being the reuben. Our favorite though was the mango matcha iced tea - it is so delicious!! Cute little deli in Boulder! Came here after flying in super late on a random Wednesday night. Most food places near our stay in Boulder were closed but this deli has a pretty unique schedule lol! 24 hours a day beginning Sunday noon until Friday 3pm. Perfect for the university students in the area (and late night folks). Decor was super cute; mix between a cabin-vibe and a Starbucks. Perfect to make it your study place or a casual dinner. We got our order to-go: the Reuben, Deli Rose, and cup of chili. The chili was SO GOOD I could've just had a full bowl by myself. The Deli Rose was for me and while it was good, I do NOT recommend getting it to-go. There's tomato and I believe some sauce on it that just made it super soggy by the time I opened it up. Still good though but I was jealous of my bf's Reuben that wasn't dripping everywhere like my sandwich lol. I do think this place is a little pricey for a deli but given it was nearly midnight on a Wednesday, this place was a win. read more

Stumbled upon this gem while walking down Pearl Street. The decor is quaint and lovely music played in the background. We got a cool little wooden booth that seemed hand carved ages ago. Started with a Matcha Latte (delish), then had a garden salad which was the perfect size. Finished with their vegetable lentil soup which was really to die for and they included some homemade bread and butter. Truly special place. Regardless of what people say regarding the "cult" comments, the staff are always sweet accommodating and helping those in need. You must try the breakfast waffle and banana shake. I love the vegan sandwich they have as-well. I have a-lot of Amish back in Missouri where I'm from and they are hard working honest people. Going out to eat on christmas day, it was hard for me to find restaurant being open! Originally came to pearl street to go to a place called Brasserie ten ten, but they were closed!!!!! Yelp deceived me. Told me they were open :( i decided to call every shop around this place to see what's open. Yellow Deli was open, and to my surprise, they had a very good review so i took my chance and came here. Pros: the place is very cozy, warm, and somewhat friendly. The food can be a little salty for people from other state like me but it was okay in general. Cons: I didn't really like how they were dressed. It looked as if they came to work right after they woke up. Serving manner was good but it took a long time for them to notice that i was ready to order. I came alone so i sat in the barstool, and it was a bit unpleasing for me. Servers came and by every 1 minute to place the order paper on the clip thats right in front of me. Had to move literally every minute for them to place the order. Also, the paper was on my eye contacting level so it felt like the workers were staring at me the entire stay. I got a food called chicken on the ranch. It tasted really good but be prepared! The bread gets soggy really quick so the sandwich falls apart really easy. Would have to be prepared getting messy, and if possible, eat it quick! I also ordered Cafe Latte for my drink. As a fellow barista, it was very disappointing for me. The foam was very thick, like cappuccino. And also, the milk was burnt by inserting too much air on he surface of the milk. It was painful to listen to the frothing sound! This place is odd even for Boulder, which turns out, is probably due to its "religious" affiliation. Aside from the peculiarity that it's in the air, the food is pretty good. My main complaint was with the guy that sat us and served us along with a woman. The woman was very sweet, but the guy was awkward and off-putting. When we first walked in, I wasn't sure whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for them to seat us because there was no one standing at the front, and it took this guy awhile to come over. When he did, he didn't say anything; he just looked at us. I asked if we should seat ourselves, and he said, "Uh, no" with a little sarcastic laugh/grunt at the end. Not particularly pleasant or welcoming. Other than that, the other women that served us and rung up the bill were really nice. I went here because of a previous review saying it was the best Reuben he ever had. I don't think hes had very many Rubens. It wasn't anything special the bread was not grilled or toasted so it was soft and a little mushy with the sauce and the sauerkraut.
