Veggie burger with tator tots
Francie M.

A hole in the wall place with good food and well-sized covered back patio. I ordered the veggie burger with tater tots because the patty was made in house and it hit the spot after a long bike ride! I'll have to come back and try the tofu wrap- I appreciate how a small bar has TWO vegetarian options. This bar looks like a great third place - it was playing a women's rugby game on the projector at noon on a Saturday with a devoted fan base, and posters advertised various local music groups and trivia a few weeks a month. Logistics: - CASH ONLY, ATM on premises - indoor and covered and enclosed back patio seating - extremely limited street parking nearby but close to Caltrain - vegetarian and one vegan option

Five stars due to their dope tater tots. They have a cozy heated outdoor patio area which was nice. Cash only. I finally their carne asada tater tots and i really liked it. I asked for some extra yogurt on the side and it was really good. Ok fries though. Service can be slow during lunch as there's only one cook.

I came back to have lunch here, I needed to fulfill a craving for a bar burger. I did ask the staff if they'd recommend that or the drunk pollo sandwich which also sounded good, and they said go with the burger. They're cash only and the menu seems to reflect the total price which is nice. Not sure if it's today or everyday but it seems like there's just one person manning the food side but I got my food in less than the time quoted (15 minutes). I was in no rush and enjoying a drink so that was fine. The food was fresh and hot and I dug into the fries first which were crispy and nicely salted. The burger patty was much thicker than I was expecting and everything tasted delicious. I'd describe this spot as a dive bar but the patio is nice and bright with lots of picnic table seating. I can't speak to what the evenings look like but it's a chill spot to grab food or a drink during the afternoon.

No frills dive bar - we popped by one random Tuesday evening and they were serving happy hour drinks. There's a decent selection of beers, cider and kombucha on tap which is pretty nice since most places don't really offer cider or kombucha draft. There's a small kitchen out back serving many greasy items to help with the drinking and the loaded carne asada tots were very satisfying. The fries were pretty good too which we ordered for the non-meat eaters. For a random Tuesday they were pretty busy and I can see this spot being a great neighborhood place to pop by for evening drinks. It seems they offer live music in the evenings but we left before anyone got up on stage.

Personality plus from the bartenders. Cash only, but they don't have enough cash on hand to make change...odd.

Classic dive bar with a good beer selection and some of the best tots in the city. Surly bartenders, but that's part of the experience. One curious aspect...cash only, but they don't really have change on hand, so make sure to bring small bills.

Carne asada tots, live music, a big back patio, and a good beer list. Also, grabbing food/drinks to go and taking it to the park across the street got me through some of the rougher parts of Covid lockdown, so I'll always have a place in my heart for Thee Parkside.

I love this venue so much. I found out about it after attending PolaCon here last year, right as the pandemic was hitting. The staff is great, the food is amazing and it's such a great place to meet up with people. I also love the fact that they have a working photobooth, 4 shots for $5. The back patio area is pretty spacious, with a lot of benches and tables. I dropped by today for a photo meet up, and I had ordered the carne Asada tator tots. I gotta say, they were super tasty. If you're looking for a bar that serves some really great food and coffee and good for meet ups with friends, this is definitely the spot!

Cant beat it. Great food, huge portions, good beer, and a casual environment. Plus, it is all priced right. We go here every other week after our games to enjoy some beer and snacks.

Hey everybody, Ma wife and I enjoyed an afternoon brew and some veggie tatchos:m :D they were super yummy, but no discount given for cutting out the cow. Our bartender required our vaccine cards & IDs, and was very empathetic to our afternoon case of the hazeys. The patio is open, and gave us a sweet reprieve from the windy streets today. The rock n' roll was playing, and thee park side vibes still remain. Take that Covid!

Luckily, my friend had already been to Iron Horse Cocktails, and suggested we go there instead. Walking down the alleyway it is located in was a nice getaway from the otherwise hectic union square atmosphere. Walking in was also a neat experience that felt like we were stepping out of the city into a tiny pub. We also really liked the atmosphere inside and the cozy upper floor that had an interesting mix of old paintings and woodwork, creating an eclectic feel. I got the We've Got the Beet cocktail with mezcal, beet reduction, ginger, fresh citrus, thyme and firewater bitters. I love mezcal's smoky flavors and was drawn to the combination of ginger, citrus and mezcal flavors in the drink. The cocktail was very good and had a nice smokiness from the mezcal, along with the kick from the ginger and zest from the citrus, creating a refreshing and tasty drink. My friend got the About Thyme, with gin, blackberry liquor, black pepper thyme syrup and fresh citrus. We both really liked his drink as well, which had an interesting kick from the black pepper thyme syrup that offset the gin and blackberry liquor nicely. While we only had time to grab a drink each, we were both very happy with the drinks and would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

Although the service was a little slow at first because of how busy it was, once we were helped, the experience was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The food is definitely on the pricier side, but it's well worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the martinis were especially impressive. If you're looking for a relaxing spot with breathtaking views of the San Francisco skyline, The View Lounge is a great choice. Friendly without being over the top, and he even gave us bar recommendations all over SF, which was a nice bonus. We ordered the Mi Sharona and the El Mariachi. The Mi Sharona leaned a little sweeter than I usually go for but it was still really good. Had lunch here with some colleagues (I've been here before but it's been 10+ years). In general, the group found the ordering method a bit wonky. It falls for me into the category of one of those spots who did some things for Covid and has continued those practices because they seemed to work. You go into a line and order entrees at the first station; but it's not clear which ones and some are precooked and some aren't. But you don't order beverages or sides there you do that at the register. Seating is self service and you grab your own napkins and silverware at the bar. Fine; but if you don't know no one is going to tell you even if you ask. Food - pretty decent food. I got the shrimp plate. Rice and beans standard - and lots of them. Shrimp not too many, but I was not super hungry. Salad, lots of it but wilted hot and weird. I could have gone without or preferred some escabeche. Tortillas; corn, store bought IMO. Ceviche; not bad not great. Guacamole same. All in all I ate about 1/5 of my plate and had plenty so if you want to fill up and have a bit appetite this is for you:

He also told me I was right on time for the saber champagne presentation -more on that in a sec. For drinks, I ordered the Hibiscus Spice and the Paradise cocktail. Both were super fruity and delicious! I had a great time sipping on this while chatting it up with a few folks at the bar. To nibble, I can never say no to ahi tuna tartare and this one was great! The most interesting little wafers, ahi tuna with some avocado cream and a little spicy sauce. I absolutely devoured these! So good! Now for the best part, the champagne presentation! A gentleman gave a little info session on on how this process is done and at the end he took a giant to a bottle of champagne to open it. Really Cool!
