Ambling into this neighborhood haunt requires a bit of effort for anyone who doesn't live within the immediate vicinity. Even someone from SoMa can get confused since it's not close to the commercial arteries of 24th Street or Mission. I accidentally came upon it as I was making my way toward Potrero and thought a tipple here would make a nice respite on a chilly evening. It's definitely an inviting place, but as luck would have it, I was here on Trivia Night. The young patrons were huddled into little groups trying to answer the questions. For someone as old as me, the trivia contest provided opportunities for eye rolling since the subjects have been in my subconscious since childhood. Regardless I just came in for a cocktail and tried the $14 Oil Can, a decent mix of cold brew, coffee liqueur, and vanilla vodka over rocks (Photo 3). I only stayed for one since there wasn't much of a social vibe. Maybe some other time. My friend and I randomly walked by this place and were so glad we found it! The whole experience from the beginning, being greeted by the kind and welcoming person checking IDs, to the extensive menu and attentive, knowledgeable support from the bartender, to the live band playing that night was just outstanding! This year I wanted to do something special for my hubby''s birthday, so I found Asiento on yelp and decided to lock in a booth for his 49th birthday. Debbie (the owner) was super responsive to all my emails and thoroughly answered all my questions. What I loved about Asiento was how Debi, the owner, made event planning effortless. I hosted a themed birthday party for 20 guests there, and every detail, from start to finish, was flawless. Debi is superwoman. Her kindness, attention to detail, thoughtfulness, responsiveness, and communication are exceptional. You can tell she has a good heart. I contacted her through the business event email, and she immediately put me at ease. She patiently answered questions before I even had to ask them, such a high level of service! For larger parties, you can order ahead, and Debi ensures the food is perfectly timed, whether it's appetizers or dishes that need to be served hot. She walked around, serving, taking care of our guests. It's clear when someone genuinely cares about their business (AND COMMUNITY!) and Debi exemplifies that. Patio is heated! I was looking for a local, spacious place in SF where my fiancée, our friends, and I could celebrate a few hours after I proposed. I looked on Google and some reviews pointed to Asiento, so I reached out via email. Debi, the owner, was super accommodating and responsive when planning the entire event via email. While other spots (with a rooftop vibe) asked for $2,000 minimums just to reserve space, Debi was able to section off a semi-private area for our group without any spend requirement. That flexibility meant a lot, especially for such a meaningful night where I didn't want to feel pressured to overspend. She also had our names written on the mirror above the bar and outside the entrance! I originally planned for 35 guests, and 40 ended up showing, but this wasn't an issue at all since Debi had the heads up. Debi even offered a space for one of my DJ friends to spin, which sealed the deal for me esp since the equipment was provided. He showed up and played a fire set and everyone talked about it all night! We ordered three platters for everyone, my fiancée especially loved the quesadilla platter. I also grabbed the juicy burger and fries for myself, and both were really good. Highly recommend both if you're feeling the drunchies. Huge shoutout to Debi for making the night go so smoothly. How have I NOT left a review for this place yet? Have been here on two occasions, and both times the drinks and food were outstanding. This is a great place for social gatherings. They have a solid selection of cocktails to choose from. They make a good old-fashioned and I am a fan of their signature What-A-Pear cocktail (spiced pear brandy, pineapple amaro, honey, lemon), which I inadvertently ended up ordering on both occasions. Variety of tapas to choose from. First time I came here, I ordered the shrimp quesadilla, which was oozing with freshly melted cheese and filled with a mix of shrimp, peppers, and diced tomatoes. Highly recommended! Was so happy to sample it once more the second time around. Despite our server's broken arm, she managed to singlehandedly bring out trays with bites of spring rolls, sautéed shrimp, guac & chips, spinach balls, and shrimp quesadilla and clear the seats and tables. Excellent service! Both times I went on a Tuesday, but it looks like they have trivia nights on Wednesdays and live bands and music on some Thursdays and weekends. We hosted our wedding welcome drinks here, and from the very beginning Debi made the entire process effortless. She was incredibly responsive, offered thoughtful suggestions, and helped us shape the evening into exactly what we envisioned. And somehow, it turned out even better than we imagined! We attended a private event (a wedding) at Asiento on 12/31/25. The menu that night was supposed to be limited, but I had heard about their Queso Fundito and when I asked to order it, they kindly made it for me anyway. It was delicious as the other reviewers had said. I also tried the Juicy Burger, which also had great reviews. Of course it was expensive: it's the most expensive beef in the world! I loved the meat, but wasn't particularly fond of some of the toppings. I'm from the Midwest and some of the flavors were a little outside my comfort zone. The ambiance was great: it's a beautiful painted building on the outside. I didn't get to see too much detail on the inside because it was so crowded that night. They had a stage set up for a DJ and small tables and chairs lining the rest of the room. We had a great time, were treated kindly by staff and enjoyed the night greatly. read more

I've been coming here for years! Definitely one of my fav spots in SF. Can't seem to go a week without craving something on their amazing menu. The flavors are bold and savory, probably the best carnitas in the city, the Thai Curry meatballs are awesome (pro tip, order extra bread for the sauce) and the burgers are terrific too, even the veggie burger. Good vegetarian options, they are equally tasty as the others. Everyone who works there provides service that is a cut above most places. I'm not much of a cocktail guy, but I've ordered a few and I'm always impressed, the Basil Lemonade and the Golden Hour being favs. Live music frequently and DJs mostly on the weekends, always a fun time. We stumbled upon this bar on a Friday night after getting dinner at a nearby Mission restaurant. We initially thought it was a Mexican/Latin cantina type place from the name but it turned out to be a regular old neighborhood bar. The staff made us feel very welcome and had some great recommendations (like adding peanut butter whiskey to our hot chocolate). The food portions are also great for the price. After a while, a DJ popped up in the corner and started playing some interesting tracks. Loved the Sparkle Pom--slightly bubbly, fruity, and refreshing, almost like a light punch. The Smoking Strawberry was also a delight, very spicy and smoky, a pretty distinct cocktail. My husband didn't like his drink though, The Procrastinator--he said it was syrupy and not very complex. You get a lot of food for the prices. When they said tapas/small plates, I was expecting smaller, so we ordered three things, but we could've done with two. The ceviche was fresh and limey, which I love. I came here after the Carnival fest with a big group of friends on a Sunday and we had a great time. The music was fun and we all were dancing for a while. There wasn't a lot of people but I think it was a good amount. We ordered some food and I dont know if it's because we were drinking but we loved the food. My friend and I were hanging around his new neighborhood, and this was before Trick Dog had reopened. Lost Resort had a wait, so we decided to linger down the block to Asiento. We did get a seat outside right away, then eventually moved inside because it was freezing outside. This bar has mediocre drinks, really nothing exciting here. I ended up getting 1-2 cocktails, but I can't remember what they were, only that they were bland. The vibe here is kind of odd. It's that 90s crowd...or rather, people who were probably in their 20s during the late 90s....which would make them in their late 40s? Lol. The music here was this 90s trance music, perfect if you're feelin' that. I do like the mural on the outside, which our friend said has been around since he lived in the Mission when he was a kid (the 90s, once again). lol. Sat at the bar on a Wednesday around 6 PM with a friend and shared the steak quesadilla and lemon hummus. Both very good and ordered a bowl of chips for $2 to finish off the hummus. My favorite drink was the basil lemonade because I like drinks that don't taste like alcohol lol and that one tasted so refreshing compared to the red sangria. Corner neighborhood bar with great cocktails and yummy food! The owner, Debi, welcomed us in while her husband (and their two dogs) was enjoying the daily special of steak tacos ($13). We grabbed a table in a cozy corner booth. There is outdoor seating that had an ensemble playing music and inside there is a space for a DJ and dance floor. We got a beer and red sangria. The sangria had a touch of cinnamon and a juicy orange slice. We also ordered gluten free noodle salad ($11) and queso fundido with house made tortilla chips. The noodles were made of cauliflour and seasoned perfectly mixed with cherry tomatoes, arugula, chopped nuts. I added chicken and it came with plenty of juicy chunks of breast meat so I could get my protein in. The melted cheese dip with added chorizo, was thick and had no added mix-ins or processed cheese. Asiento was our first dine-in experience this year when restaurants opened back up in SF for indoor dining and we had such a delightful evening! Came here for date night and the owner Debbie made us feel so welcome and took care of us. She even took the extra step to set up the space heater at our table that made it cozy and totally upped the ambience. Food and cocktails were fantastic, we had the spinach balls, deviled eggs and the tostadas. All very flavorful, the spinach balls was my favorite, quite a unique dish. Husband enjoyed the juicy burger and I tried the vegan burger which was just as good. The cucumber rosemary cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet and a winner. I've been in on quiet nights and busier event evenings but the vibe of this place is just right every time. Such a neighborhood gem! All of the craft cocktails are phenomenal, particularly the Oil Can and Basil Lemonade. The bartender recently recommended the Nova Roja and it's my new favorite. The food is so much more than just bar bites with a pretty extensive tapas style menu and regular specials.
