Hi Yelpers! I've always wanted to go downtown to eat and the perfect time came around. My friends and I decided to make a quick stop at Theo's Rolls and Bowls and I was very impressed. The first thing I noticed was how clean the place was. There was a self serve machine where you could place your order. The bowls start at $10 and you just pick your toppings. I got the lemon grass chicken & rice with greens and an egg. I choose the bang, bang sauce. I watched the lady make the food and could not wait to taste it. My food came in a bowl and the portion was good. The food was sooo delicious. I could taste ever fresh herb in this dish. It was hot and delicious. I came here on a whim and decided to give boba another try now that I finally understand the hype. The setup is super simple since it's located inside a food/market hall. When I first walked up, I had a question, and they just pointed me toward the kiosk to order. The same thing happened to the customer after me too lol, so I guess that's just how they operate here. Despite that, my drink came out really fast...probably within five minutes. Since then, I've tried several other boba spots, and honestly, this one has had the best flavor so far. The drink wasn't overly sweet even at 100% sweetness, and the tapioca pearls were the perfect consistency. Theo's located inside the market was the most interesting spot we saw so we were pretty excited to try this place out. However, some of the items were a hit while some were more of a miss. I got the lemongrass chicken bowl and it didn't have have the taste of lemongrass and I do wish they were able to grill the chicken. Cooking it on the flattop did not help the texture paired with the veggies. The fries which I got for my niece seemed a bit overpriced without the toppings. The spring rolls were tasty. The bang bang shrimp was ok. The shrimp were soggy from being inside the container and all stuck together. My friend did like her pork belly and said it was pretty crispy so I would recommend that if you go here. While I do appreciate the kiosk style ordering, it seems a bit hectic because you cannot combine the order for the food/drinks even though it appears that they are owned by one. That said, even though it was not a lot of people, my order got messed up with another persons which I felt bad as I had ended up opening it before the store owner realized it was not the right one. This review is strictly based on the bubble tea we ordered as we did not order food. I love you can order at the kiosk and check in with the staff working if you have any questions. They have a major bubble tea selection along with a Vietnamese coffee selection as well (a fav of mine!) We ordered a peach fruit tea and a rose green tea. Both a 10/10!!! So good! This location is within the cross street market, there is plenty of seating and a nice ambiance in the market. Keep in mind it can be busy at various times. Popped into Cross Street Market for a quick tea before they closed at 10 pm. The woman working was sweet and made great recommendations. I tried their lychee black tea with lychee jelly and it was so refreshing. I personally liked this one better than Tiger Sugar. I thought the price was reasonable especially for the upgrade to a large that was less than a dollar. Unfortunately won't be coming back here again. We tried the mango green tea with 50% sugar and it was unbearably sweet. Basically just tasted like straight up syrup. When we asked if we could switch it out to less sugar, the employee stated that it wouldn't make a difference because of the syrup. Really dope spot for for bahn mi in the area. Came here to the market in Federal hill looking to the meal and of all the places, my nose led me here. I got a pork crackling bahn mi and my friend got the chicken bahn mi with a fried egg. Both sandwhiches were super delicious and I would recommend them. They also came with fries! I am on vacation and taking time to leave this review! This is hands down the best lemongrass pork I have ever had. I'm not Vietnamese but am from SF, where I thought standards were high. I was completely blown away by this lemongrass pork bowl for a number of reasons: (1) You can taste that the pork was marinated for 24 hours using high quality lemongrass. (2) The marinade was not overly sweet, as many places are to accommodate the American palate. (3) The way they grilled the meat delivered a "just right" smoke flavor. YUM! I could probably eat here everyday I was in Baltimore for work a few months ago and a coworker and I hung out at cross street before needing to head to the airport. I'm back in town this weekend and staying near by. Very easily could have gone to a different vendor, but Theos was too good not to go back to! The first time I got a bowl with the crispy pork which was VERY crispy and basically stuck to my teeth. I had enough to eat for lunch, eat on the train a few hours later, and then some more when I got home to CT. Yesterday I got the beef bulgogi which was DELICIOUS. I did half rice half lettuce mix and still had enough for lunch, a snack later in the day, and lunch the next day. The service was great! Went by on a whim and saw this place in Cross St. Market. I believe they are a fairly new vendor. The ordering process was very straightforward and prices are reasonable. I tried their beef bulgogi banh mi with a side of fries. Exceeded my expectations! The fries were superb - thin, crispy and salted to perfection. I wish I had gotten more! The banh mi was delicious. The beef was extremely flavourful and the banh mi had just the right amount of cucumbers, carrots etc. I ate the sandwich about 45 minutes after picking it up, and the bun was not soggy. So the bowl was delicious I got my bowl with half rice and half leafy greens and I got the bang band shrimp as my protein. I took off one star bc you get 5 medium sized fried shrimp with a little razzle dazzle of the bang bang sauce. However my fiancé got the beef bulogi bowl and THAT was to die for. I had to take some of his meat and add it to my bowl. The shrimp was good but that meat tender juicy and flavorful when I go back for the bulogi bowl. We got some boba tea that was sweet and tasty. My fiancé got his old reliable dirty brown sugar milk tea with tapioca boba and I got the lychee fruit tea with strawberry popping boba. SOOOO GOOD!!! My wife and I ordered from here tonight and we are so mad we hadn't tried it sooner! It was absolutely delicious! I had a Poppin' K Bahn and Poppin' hardly does it justice... It was so good I was licking the plate. It came with fries which were pretty typical shoestring fries with salt and pepper, but we're very good and welcomed. I also got the pork spring rolls, which were super well spiced and delicious! My wife got the Salt and Pepper Tofu bowl, half salad half rice, and really liked it. I had a traditional pork banh mi, and it was so good. The bread is light and slightly flaky/crisp on the outside. The pork is tender, with a nice mix of savory/sweet flavor, and the veggies pair with it perfectly. The fries were also very good, although they were a little salty for my tastes. Everything was phenomenal! It's hard to have a favorite because everything was really good. All the food was made to order and you can tell that the ingredients they use were fresh. They have a kiosk, online ordering and a counter personel all at the same time so placing an order is very convenient plus the prices were all affordable and worth it. I ordered the chick banh and pork shumai dumplings. The dumpling were nice and plump and flavorful, though you only get an order of three they felt like they were mostly worth the price. I would recommend them and order them again. I wasn't a big fan of the dipping sauce that came with the dumplings but I think that was just a matter of preference as I tend to like a sweeter sauce and this wasn't sweet at all. The chick banh was absolutely amazing! It tasted like it was made with love. I'm so glad that I tried something different as it was very much worth it. The fries that came with the sandwich were very basic and not the greatest but the sandwich was so good that the fries didn't even matter. It's a good thing I don't live closer because I'd probably go back way too often. I highly recommend both the sandwich and the dumplings.
