I just discovered this place and went for dinner and I have to say it's the best Thai food I've had in Baltimore. I had the tom yung goong soup, the pad see ew with shrimp, and the pork belly with basil sauce, and I added in broccoli to that. It was all absolutely delicious. Reminded me of the Thai food I used to have in San Francisco. The place is very nice. Tables are not crowded and the staff was nice and welcoming. I placed a to go order at Chat Thai and had an approximate wait of 20 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant my food was ready and the person at the front was very friendly and thanked me for my business. All of my food was great and I will definitely be ordering again. I started with the pan fried Chive dumplings, the texture initially threw me off a little as it's a little more doughy than a traditional dumpling but the flavor was amazing! My Kra Prow Moo Grob had the crispiest pork belly, and the sauce was a little spicy and little sweet and the perfect amount of umami. The egg was over fried in my opinion as it was difficult to tear apart, but this was my first time trying this dish and I'm not sure if that's how the egg is traditionally served. The mango sticky rice I ended up saving for another day but reheated very well. The mango was sweet and refreshing and the coconut sauce added a nice creaminess. While I didn't dine in this time I did notice that there is bar seating, traditional sit down space and an outdoor patio. I will be sure to return for my Thai needs and look forward to dining in. I used to be obsessed with Chat Thai but not anymore. My most recent order included the Thai rice. There were egg shells in my rice and chicken bones in my husbands rice. I call the restaurant to inform them of what happened. The man I spoke to let me know he would comp my next order. Cool. I personally had no plans of returning but a few weeks later, my husband wanted Thai. I call to place the order, informed them that the meal should be comped. Wife found this new Thai restaurant at Quarry Lake. On a Friday night, we did not need a reservation. There was plenty of available seating. The restaurant vibe is warm and cozy. Ideal spot for both casual dining or special occasions. The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive. We ordered the fish cakes and Nam Tok (beef) Salad for appetizers. The tangy dipping sauce for the fish cakes was amazing. The Nam Tok salad had nice flavor, but I'm used to thinner sliced beef. The main course consisted of Panang curry, drunken noodles, and Kra Prow Moo Groob (crispy pork belly w/chilli basil sauce). The curry had a rich, creamy broth with fresh vegetables and tender chicken. The crispy pork was beautifully cooked, with a perfect crunch and rich flavor. Drunken noodles had a nice smoky wok flavor and not oily. Overall, an excellent Thai dining experience. We will definitely return. read more

Had a great weekday lunch at Chat Thai - very pretty decor & it smelled like flowers when you walked in. Good music playing too! The lunch portion was plentiful, delicious and a good price. I had a bit leftover. The lunch special comes with a salad with peanut dressing (sweet and savory). I also got wonton soup, which was tasty but 4 wontons & broth shouldn't cost $9 IMO but the broth was tasty. I will be back soon! The waitress was nice too, she checked back often. read more

Finally, after countless restaurants at this location - it seems Chat Thai is here to stay! Speedy and super friendly service. The food felt like a few levels beyond run of the mill Thai food. I had the Ka Prow chicken which was super flavorful, the Tom Yum which was uniquely tangy and generous with aromatic lemongrass. A winner! read more

My daughter went here this evening for the first time and LOVED it! She had spring rolls and chicken pad Thai and I had garden rolls and shrimp pad Thai. We were both so happy! We used to love getting Thai food together but haven't found a place we liked (we live in Bel Air). The food was delicious, and the portions were substantial. I have been looking for new go to Thai since my old reliable has gone downhill in last couple of years in quality. Saw Chat Thai and location is only 10 min away from me. We ordered carry out online and it was ready on time for pickup. The good? We had Pad Thai w chicken and it was excellent and the Thai style crispy pork belly special that was very good and not greasy at all. The bad? Red curry dish was too creamy & sweet and had little other than chicken in it. We tossed it after a little bit. We also ordered wings and spring rolls but have not had them yet. The portions seemed small for the cost of dishes in my opinion so the value was not there in anything we ordered. Our carry out meal for 2 w some expected leftovers was well over $80. This is almost expected in the "high rent" area of their location but I do not see value here. End result is I am still looking for my new go to Thai restaurant and carry out. read more

1st time here. Lots of things went well, nothing went wrong, but a few slight misses made this not perfect. Went for lunch on Sat afternoon, not busy at all, service was a little slow/unattentive at the end of the meal. The entrees were all great. Will be back to try a few different things, one of the shrimp entrees could have used more shrimp. The drunken noodles were great as was the Kra Prow Kai Dow. My knock was that the egg was very overcooked. The beef salad was also slightly light on the dressing and heat. Gotta say, this is easily the best Thai in the area. We really enjoy going to this restaurant. Nice atmosphere, great food. We have had a number of the items on the menu. The Tom Kha Gai soup is delicious with a slight kick. Really great way to start a meal if you like this soup. For mains, the pineapple and shrimp curry, massumun, and the crispy filet of flounder are all excellent and very filling. Service is very good. Solid Thai in the neighborhood! We waited years for good Thai food. Have gotten carry out twice since their recent opening. Menu is a little confusing but basically you can pair any sauce or curry with any protein. This is more obvious when ordering online than off of menu. Panang is delicious but packs some heat unless you ask for mild (we like it hot). Pad Thai is just right. We enjoyed the ginger shrimp and lemongrass chicken too on our second visit. Very solid! I love Thai, and this place is much easier to get in and out of than my go-to spot in Hampden. The veggie tempura was outstanding, and everything else I tried was quite tasty, except for the sticky rice with mango, which was rock hard in the middle. Solid Thai place. Got carry out from here after it snowed. Of the three dishes we ordered, the green curry chicken was head and shoulders above the rest. The chicken pad Thai was good not great and the beef drunken noodles were okay, but seemed to be missing some flavor. We were served our chicken entree that was completely RAW inside! Not just undercooked, but actually completely raw. We ate several pieces before we figured it out and asked the staff to come check it out. They offered my husband a new meal but we were so worried about their unsafe food preparation that we couldn't eat it. We both left with stomachaches halfway through the meal. The service was horrible, and we waited 10+ minutes for water, and I waited 35+ minutes for my martini and had to ask for it twice. They took 10% off the bill for the raw chicken, which amounted to a sad discount of $8. We paid $100 for the "pleasure" of eating raw chicken and a stomachache and left hungry. This was Valentine's Day, and a very disappointing experience as a couple. Don't eat here! It's unsafe and terrible service. read more

When my credit card charges came, the charge submitted was $33.23, someone at the restaurant added $1.00. I called the restaurant and actually spoke to the person who served as identified on the bill and the table no. She said she'll tell the manager and the manager would call me back, but nobody called back. It was only one dollar, but I just want to warn customers who may not notice a "small addition" on their credit card bill just as I almost did.
