You enter the salon through the main galleria doors and it's located easily on the first floor with clear signage. It was popping off on a Saturday! Every chair was filled with hip young people, I felt a little out of my element at first, not gonna lie hahaha I was then taken back by the wonderful Chloe to get my locker for my stuff and for the most amazing shampoo I've had in a long time! Writing this because I recently made the mistake of going to a different hair salon. I got a long hair layered cut by Subeen a few months ago, and she did such a wonderful job. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair. It also grew out extremely well (over 6 months). Worth every single penny. She was EXTREMELY thorough and also considers what will work for your hair type and face. I brought an inspiration pic and she made small tweaks, recommending layers to my crown to bring volume to my fine hair (and to hide the fact that my head is a little flat). On 4/20 Easter, I visited Theodora Hair Salon, and my colorist was Subeen. I came in with brunette hair and showed multiple inspiration pictures of brunettes with a lighter, honey-brown tone -- very clear and straightforward. Throughout the process, her assistant was incredibly rude, which already made the experience uncomfortable. I specifically told them I did not want highlights, just a solid color. they made the professional decision to bleach my entire head. Keep in mind -- I was already a brunette -- I just wanted a lighter brunette, not a complete color change. Instead, I ended up with a blonde-grayish tone that looked nothing like what I asked for. They kept asking me to choose a toner, but again, I'm not the professional -- I expected them to understand the assignment based on the inspiration pictures I provided. I left extremely unhappy and messaged the salon's main Instagram page -- no accountability was taken. Subeen did offer to bring me back in on Tuesday to try to fix it. She toned my hair again, and although she tested a color on a small section, a few days later, after my first wash, my hair has now turned an ugly, murky green. To recap: my natural brunette hair was bleached to blonde, then toned back to brown, and now it's green. My hair is now severely over-processed, dry, breaking, and damaged. I originally paid $650, and now I have to spend even more money to have a different professional fix it because I no longer trust them with my hair. I would absolutely not recommend coming here if you value the health of your hair or expect your wishes to be respected. read more

I tried this place out because it seemed nice. I think I just got unlucky with the hair stylist. I choose not the lowest tier but one that was the one above that. I came and asked if I could get face framing layers and hair thinning. She didn't know what I was talking about and asked me for a picture. Which never happened to me before. But that's fine. When she was cutting my hair she was just looking at the pic the whole time. So at the end it did look like the pic but my hair itself didn't feel right. It was thick in some places and kinda choppy. And my hair still felt heavy. I do want to give this place a chance again with maybe another stylist but I wasn't that satisfied for the amount of money I played for. Luckily I got a text from the original stylist saying she no longer working here so at least I don't feel awkward that I don't like her. Update: Andy left and I've tried a bunch of other stylist at Theodora: tldr: standard has dropped and avoid Ryan King I've been coming to Theodora for 4-5 years and have always had great experiences until today. I was assigned Ryan King, and it was by far the worst haircut I've ever had. As I started explaining what I wanted, he just grabbed the clippers and lazily shaved the sides with a single guard--no blending, no effort, nothing. The cut was completely uneven, and you could clearly see the patchy, inconsistent shaving(attached). Then he rushed through trimming the top and sent me off in less than 10 minutes, with no attention to detail whatsoever. Even the $10 chain salons put more effort into their cuts. He walked in from playing on his phone, hacked away at my hair like he couldn't be bothered, and immediately went back to scrolling on his phone like a spoiled teenager the second he was done. If this is the new standard at Theodora, I won't be coming back. read more

This is now my go-to salon and Ryan is my go-to stylist! I feel stupid because I don't know why I kept getting bad haircuts and then having him fix my hair...but now I've learned my lesson lol! He's very detail oriented and meticulous. I usually go for shorter hairstyles even though my hair is naturally thick and wavy, too. He's very precise and careful and is able to make my hair flow in a way that looks clean and neat. It's something a lot of other hairstylists I've gone to haven't been able to achieve because it always ends up bulky and uneven, especially after it grows out a bit. I had such high hopes for this salon after my first cut was with their co-director level stylist (Somi, $100 at the time) and it was absolutely perfect - exactly what you hope for when paying premium prices. The second time, I went with a senior stylist and while it was decent, the layers were cut slightly blunt compared to what I'd asked for. For my third visit, with their prices having increased, I opted for a junior stylist since I just wanted a basic trim and long layers refreshed. At $80, I expected at least clean blending, but after washing my hair the next day, I was disappointed to find the layers were poorly blended and choppy. The stylist had curled my hair beautifully at the salon, which hid how uneven the cut actually was. It's such a shame because I know this salon can do amazing work - that first haircut proved it! But when even a simple trim doesn't meet expectations at pretty high cost of $80 for a junior stylist, it makes me hesitant to return. If you do visit, I'd recommend sticking with their more experienced stylists, it might cost more upfront but at least you won't need a redo (which I ended up getting at a different salon for much less of a cost). read more

April analyzed my scalp and determined what type of treatment I needed for my scalp and hair, and Claire did the hair treatment and explained the steps along the way. This review is for my most recent visit. I had an appointment with Subeen. She was personable and spoke english fluently. However, I am not satisfied with my haircut. As more weeks pass, I just can't get over how awful it looks. It was suppose to be a simple cut. I just wanted some volume, and layers/ c curls. However my layers came out so choppy and unblended especially on the tips. Looks like it was cut pretty much straight across, no angle at all. This isn't my first haircut. I know how a proper layer cut is suppose to be and blend. I've never had a haircut this bad. Today was the first time I had an appointment with Soo Mi and she is SO good..! Her and Dennis! They had taken my outgrown babylight roots and touched it up to match my damaged ends--in both warmer lighting AND cooler lighting the color looks great! I am so happy! Usually this will take 8 hours to do, and Theodora ALWAYS does an AMAZING job, but this time they did it in 5 which I was incredibly grateful for. My back wasn't tired and I love that they offer snacks and drinks because I do get uncomfortable when I'm hungry. Also the damage isn't any crazier than what I'd expect with bleaching black hair, but getting a treatment in addition doesn't hurt at all, and it's sooo comforting. If I lived closer or had the funds to do so, I'd come back every few months or so just to do something fun with my hair. I saw this other girl go in with bleached blonde hair and they turned it black (?) , I think I want to try that next time I'm here. It looked really good on her and not pasty like what I thought would happen when you put black over bleached hair. Maybe I'd ask them to cut it super short too, since they cut hair so well. Update after salon owner response: The issue wasn't the color lifting, as the color did lift me to a bright red. I asked for a DARK cherry cola color and your stylist turned me full Ariel. Do not try to backtrack now that I have come forward with my experience. Clearly this stylist does not have enough experience with coloring as nearly a year later someone else posted she bleached incorrectly and turned a client's hair green! Take accountability and invest in education for your stylists so this doesn't happen again. --- I'm writing this review almost a year later because I'm still dealing with the aftermath of what was done to my hair at Theodora Hair Studio in March of 2025. I booked a cut and color with Subeen, and although the cut was fine - I showed her inspiration photos of cherry cola hair and was left with bright red hair like Ariel from the little mermaid. She kept gaslighting me & saying it looked like the inspo photo...no it actually looked nothing like it. I refused to leave without getting some sort of toner to darken it and they had me sign a waiver and charged me full price for a second coloring even though it was their fault/mistake. I was left $450 + tip in the hole and hating my hair. Fast forward to a year later I worked up the courage to get my hair colored by a stylist at a different salon. Well folks, I sat in a chair for 8 HOURS today to color correct what was done to me at Theodora. I was really debating leaving this review but after seeing the damage and negligence done to my hair (it was far worse than what I thought), I needed to come back and let the people know. Chloe is the master Perm technician there and she does my digital perm every eight months I have to say out of every Perm I've gotten in the past five years of my life. Her perm is the most natural beautiful set. It's extremely difficult to get the perfect shade of blonde on Asian hair, but this salon does an incredible job every time!! ‍My natural hair color is black, I dyed it platinum blonde, and I get root retouch every 3 weeks. My hair is super healthy, it doesn't break at all. Even with bleaching my hair, my hair still stays healthy. Everybody at the salon is super welcoming and accommodating.
