I tried Theo's for the first time upon a recommendation that they had very good steak tips, so I ordered a steak-tip salad. Unfortunately, I got the chicken instead of the steak tips. The good news is that the chicken was very good and Theo's was quick to have the food ready... but I guess I'll have to try the steak tips another time. read more

Customer service is terrible to say the least. The owner I cant even refer to as a gentleman as he is very hostile and aggressive with his communication with his customers including long term which I step away for a while because orders were not being made as ordered and when brought to the attention of the owner he became very condescending and hostile which made me feel extremely uncomfortable . I ordered a calzone and added red roasted peppers to it. The woman repeated "with green peppers" and I immediately said no, red roasted peppers, I can not eat green peppers. She said okay and I repeated red roasted peppers again and told her if it comes with green peppers I will send it back. She said, I've got it. There were other people yelling in the background and a man picked up the phone in the middle of the order and started talking about something else. When I call my address comes up in their system and I only need to verify it. She took my credit card info and said about 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later my order arrived. The driver called my phone and I went downstairs to meet him. I was halfway up in the elevator when I noticed that order on the box and it was printed green peppers. I ran to my phone and called them to i needed to have the order done over at 7:05pm. They asked if wanted a side order of red roasted peppers. I told her "No" I need a new one without green peppers. She said okay, half hour. About 7:35 or so. I called back at 8:30 and they said they had delivered a half hour ago. I told them they hadn't delivered it yet and she repeated another address and said that's where the delivered it to. I told her , wrong address. She said she asked the driver and he said he delivered it to the same woman as he did earlier. Not me! They basically said we gave you food and we don't care whether or not it's what you ordered. Very disappointed today! In the past, when I had a problem with an order, they would apologize, offer a refund... But today, I got such an attitude from the Manager/ Owner when I told him that the sweet potato fries were burned. He was yelling at me, and instead of saying, 'no problem, u want another order or your money back', he was blaming the company that supplies the sweet potato fries. I called back for his name and he wouldn't give it to me. And when I said, I'm not going to order from them anymore, he said, 'go someplace else, I don't care'. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken with extra pita bread. Their pita bread is the best I've ever had, but I wasn't given the extra piece as ordered. The salad was fresh, but there was barely any feta on it and there was not even one little black olive to be had. I did find banana peppers in my salad though and I don't know why. They need to do better. I gave them 3 's because it was fresh and the pita is great, but not sure if I'll order from there again. read more

Canceled my order 2x with no phone call. Poor customer service.

Last Saturday I called and ordered the Large Buffalo Chicken Special pizza. The woman said, "ok, one large cheese. Anything else?" I said, "No, it's one large buffalo chicken special pizza." She said, "oh, ok; anything else?" I said, "No, but can you read the order back?" She replied "one large cheese....oh wait, buffalo chicken?" After confirming my order for the third time, I gave her my credit card info. "Sorry, you're declined," was the response. I told her to cancel, hung up, and then placed the same order at Pisa Pizza, using the same credit card with success. A few min later my phone sent an alert that Theo's charged me for the pizza. I called back, talked to Alex, and he assured me that the charge would be reversed that night, and said "I'm training a new person." Now it's almost a week later, and I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company b/c Theo's has not reversed it. I've eaten at Theo's many times and I like their food, but I won't continue to patronize a company that doesn't put their best effort forward when it comes to customer service. My suggestion would be to not put trainees on the phone without supervision until they know what they are doing. That teenage cashier will probably work there for a year. I would have been a customer for many more years to come. I order takeout a lot, and am very loyal. But now, I'll give my business to Pisa Pizza. Everyone makes mistakes (me too), but I know when that happens, Pisa Pizza makes it right. Theo's does not. read more

Delivery was about 25min late, but otherwise good product. I would recommend over some of the other Melrose pizza places. Nice thick crust. Only thing that I didn't like was it got a little soft towards the center of the pie, creating an unstable slide when picked up. However, taste was great and price was right. I'd rather die of hunger than order from this place. Last order was missing things and when I called, I was told to "go fuck myself".

We sometimes order here for delivery, and it always takes longer than expected. Tonight we ordered online and they said 50 minutes online. we called after an hour and 15 minutes and the person said another 20 minutes it should be out after they " found the order". It never came so we called again and asked for the manager. The manager said she didn't get the order and the other person lied about it. Will never order here again. read more

Stay away! Absolutely awful service. They were rude on the phone when I ordered. I called an hour later. They had no clue what I was talking about and asked me my address three times and handed me off to other workers on the phone because apparently they couldn't be bothered. I called the store at 7:36 and was told already gone out the door should be few more minutes. My food will probably be cold and I still waiting as I write this review. I moved to Melrose last year and this is now our Go-To pizza place! I grew up in New York.... but after moving around the last few years I've had a hard time finding pizza that I actually liked. Theo's pizza is as close as I've found to the pizza I used to have growing up. Other than the pizza, they make pretty good sandwiches, gyros, and pasta dishes. Other reviewers have complained about their delivery time, but we've never had an issue with them being late. We usually call directly (i.e. not through Eat 24) so maybe that helps? My only complaint... the people who take your order on the phone are confusing/awkward sometimes to talk to... leaving me not 100% sure they got my order correct. read more

Hadn't been here in probably 2 years and now I remember why. Only stopped in because my son had a late little league game at the field nearby. Ordered online and was given a time estimate of 15-20 mins. Went 20 minutes later and was told it was not ready. Asked how long it would be and was told 8 minutes. This was after the kid working the register went back and looked in the oven. Came back 10 minutes later to find my pizzas were not even in the oven yet. No apology was offered, even after I reminded him that he had given me an estimate of 8 minutes knowing that my pizzas had not even been started. An hour after ordering, my pizzas were ready. Asked to speak to the manager to let them know of my experience and he simply shrugged and turned away. No worries, pal, keep treating your customers that way and see how much longer you are in business. There are literally 10+ other pizza/sub shops within a mile so why would anyone put up with crap service and mediocre food here? As for the pizzas, they were so greasy, it literally took 5 paper towels to soak it up. Insult to injury, I suppose. I'd rather give my business to places that appreciate it and make a minimal effort at common sense customer service. Definitely is not the case here. read more

Best pizza we have ever had, period. We order twice a week sometimes. I order using grubhub and the delivery is on-time 90% of the time. The usual estimate ia 60-70 minutes after Theo's & Grubhub confirm the order via email and app. Have been regular customers for about a year and a half and only ever had 1 time where delivery was very late. Moving to Melrose I was quickly stunned and overwhelmed by the sheer number of pizza places crowded on and near Main Street. It's really a bit disturbing. Does one town need a big Papa Gino's and three, yes three independent pizza-and-sub joints within two blocks of each other? And there's a Comella's open here, and now there's Wood+Fire over by the Shaw's, basically another pizza place, and I'm not even past City Hall yet. Take my advice on this: ignore all the pizza joints on Main Street, turn down West Wyoming, cross the tracks and go to Theo's. Yes, there is a Lisa's Pizza almost right next to Theo's, I mean, it is literally 3 doors down on the same side of the street. And it's an OK place, but go to Theo's. Why Theo's? Here are a few reasons why: 1. The pizza is always good. Yes, it's Greek crust. But it's well done Greek crust. The dough & sauce are made in house. 2. The meatball parm is not just good, it's good for you. When I have a miserable cold, this is the comfort food I go for, because the next morning I'm cured. 3. The steak bomb is awesome. 4. Their beef kabob dinner is good. Ask for a little feta sprinkled over the top. 5. Fresh baked pita bread with every salad or dinner. The only thing that keeps Theo's from getting five stars is their delivery service, which is not up to the level of their food. I usually just go and pick up my order. Although I did order delivery last week and it arrived in 25 minutes just as they promised, everything was correct and they didn't forget anything. So they may be fixing this weak spot in their business. Meantime I'm gonna go and ponder the whole pizza shop thing with Melrose. I mean, what does the zoning commission do all day? Who approves these places? And how does that Papa Gino's stay open? There's almost no one in there whenever I pass it. And why can't the building across from West Wyoming Commuter Station keep a business afloat for more than 6 months (I've seen 2 really neat bakeries open & close in that spot), while Heavenly Licks with its nasty ice cream & dirty interior stayed open for years? This stuff is starting to keep me up at night. Anyway -- just go to Theo's for pizza. Ignore everything else. read more

Sadly, I'm downgrading my rating. For a while, Theo's delivery has been the slowest of any place I've ordered from. I recently learned that they changed their delivery radius. When it comes to delivery from a sub/dinner plate/pizza shop, I have a tendency to order with caution. I've been disappointed often enough, and so we went with fairly 'safe' choices. He got a large steak and cheese with BBQ sauce, I got the chicken kebab dinner plate (with rice) since I used to order that from my local sub joint all the time and loved it. The delivery driver called to ask where we were, he'd never heard of the address, which happened to be on the same street as Theo's is located... Hmmmm? I described my friend's house the best I could, and finally it sounded like we were on the same page. $21.75 for the two meals. Which seems pretty pricey, but I guess, we were in the suburbs, and my dinner plate cost about $11 all by itself. They were also one of the few places that were still open and offering delivery (at 10pm on a SATURDAY NIGHT!) ... It's beyond me how people manage to live in the stix... The rice had less flavor than I expected, but was nice with bits of spinach in it. The chicken had a hint of lemon, and was grillen with tomato quarters , and green peppers, which was a nice addition. The salad was small, but not bad, the dressing was pretty oily and not that strong, but gave the rice a bit more of a "punch". The report back on the sub was that it was surprisingly good. There was just enough (not too little, not too much) BBQ sauce for it, and that the BBQ sauce tasted good too. That coming from a BBQ sauce connoisseur is pretty high praise, in my book.... If I find myself in Melrose again and I'm hungry, I will probably call up Theo's again and explore the rest of their menu. What's not to like about a place that serves meatballs as an appetizer, really, think about that for a minute. read more

There are too many pizza joints in Melrose to choose from when first acclimating to suburban life out here. Of course you have to try them all. There are a few chains but mostly mom-and-pop shops, this being one of them. By far the best pizza in Melrose. Love their magherita and other vegetarian options, crust is on point, sauce is great. Price is a little higher than you would expect but pizzas are a bit bigger and a lot tastier. We got everyone we know in Melrose hooked on this place! read more

The food is good. The service is not. I have ordered a few times and usually the mistakes are excusable - Coke instead of Diet Coke, onions when I asked for no onions, etc. Today however it took them 75 minutes to deliver 2 salads and a turkey wrap. I am 5 minutes from the restaurant. The delivery time was estimated at 45 minutes. When I called after an hour they blamed the online ordering site (Eat24) for not faxing the info over to them. I have never had an issue with EAT24 prior (here or other places) and I did not get anything resembling an apology from the restaurant. My boyfriend turned me on to the place and I like it a lot. Of course, I've had their ziti with broccoli and I loved it. The cream sauce was wonderful. I've also tried their broccoli and cheese calzone and it was great. Their was tons of cheese and flavor. My boyfriend has ordered their steak and egg calzone, pepperoni and cheese calzone, pizza, tuna subs and salads and he's loved them all. Their salads are awesome.. they're filled with veggies... grape tomatoes, banana peppers, cucumbers, red onion and olives. They also make their own pita bread which is amazing. Thank you! The chicken caesar salad wrap is totally fresh and scrumptious. The dressing is perfectly dispersed and the lettuce is crunchy and the chicken is lemony tangy. Is lemony a word?
