Went to this spot with my girlfriends last week. Waited for 15 minutes to be sited. Worth the wait. Waitress were very professional. The Mediterranean wings were full of flavor. Atmosphere was heavenly; that dj played everything really well.The 90s play list was jumping!. Jamican and African music was great. Very nice environment. My friends loved the hookah too. This is literally the only place me and my best friends smoke shisha. 1) the owner is so sweet she always greets us and remember us (i meant it when i say WE'RE ALWAYS THERE 2) Therapy reminds me of ethiopia with all the friendly habesha people ^_^ 3) she has the smoothest shisha hands down. and if therapy is too packed go to Meskerem accross the street. its awesome there too. 4) Its a place where you can get dolled up and just have fun with your friends good memories i can say that might be a plus and can give you sort of a feel of how therapy can be on my bday the place i originally planned to celebrate in fell through, so we went to therapy when it was INSANELY packed. I told her i needed a spot and it was an emergency because it was my birthday the owner was so nice and asked for my number and told me as soon as a seating area got open shed call me. I gave her my number and me and my friends hung around, 5 minutes later she called with a big spot opened for me. i was toooo happy! 2- another time it was my sisters bday, & they brought out a cheesecake for her with happy birthday written on it, they did that without us asking and i thought it was sweet. they also turned the music up towards the end (which they usually dont do) and the staff was dancing all the traditional ethiopian dances with us. soo much fun of course when going to a place so much you tend to get some bad experiences there CONS- drinks are too expensive, but then again all ethiopian restaurants tend to overdo the prices on drinks. one time i ordered a daquiri and she brought it back to me virgin. she at first told me it had alcohol in it and then told me it wasnt supposed to have alcohol in it when i asked about it. the drink was already 10 and she offered to put a shot in it. when i asked her how much it would cost she said a few dollars.......i was charged 20 dollars for that ONE drink. when i went to the register the owner told me she saw her mention that it would be 10 dollars . i hit her with the -___- face and let her know no one in their right mind would pay 20 dollars for a small frozen drink and that her waitress told me different. she wouldnt budge over a 10 dollars. Visited this spot with some friends only because it was right next to Desta. This was the worst hookah spot I've ever been to. We ordered one hookah and it took over 30min and the lounge wasn't busy at all. The staff was very unfriendly. The hookah was harsh after 15 min so we asked for another one. The second hookah did the exact same thing and we couldn't even smoke it. This was a waste of time and money. I would never recommend this place. read more

On March 9, 2014 I patronized Therapy Coffee Bar and Lounge for the first time. I ordered a $38 bottle of Charles De Rose(the most inexpensive bottle of Rose on the menu), 1 coke, and 2 bottles of water. This establishment offers four different types of Rose therefore I specifically pointed out my champaign of choice to the waiter. 45 minutes to a hour later the champaigne still had not arrived at our table so I reminded the server of my order. About 15 minutes later a second server delivers, opens, and pours the champaign for all 5 guest which emptied the bottle (the empty bottle was removed from the table). The original server that took my order never returned to the table. After waiting nearly an hour we signaled a third waiter for our bills. Once the bill finally arrived to the table I noticed that mine totaled $219.25 which included 1 coke ($2.00), 1 water ($2.00), one bottle of Moet Nector Rose for $170, and $31.32 gratuity. Moet Nector Rose is not listed on this establishments menu at all, in fact the most expensive bottles are listed at only $135. When we told the third server that there had been a mistake he sent the second waitress back to our table who apparently may have been the manager. I explained to her that the bill was not reflective of what I had ordered. She then told me that what I ordered is not what had been brought to the table and that she could not "take a loss" by honoring my original order. She only agreed to remove $30 from the bill. I think that it is absurd that I was charged for a $170 bottle of champagne that I did not order and that is not even listed on the menu. My card was swiped for $176.40 after the $30 deduction but it should have only been swiped for 51.92 + tax. This price would have included 18% gratuity, a $38 dollar bottle of champaign, 1coke ($2) and 2 bottles of water ($2x 2=$6) It was a busy night, the server forgot our order and instead of confirming the order the staff assumed that I had ordered the most expensive bottle of champaign that is not even listed on the menu. I understand that our original server forgot our order, then made a mistake while completing the order, however it is not the customers responsibility to pay for employee mistake. read more

Where are our drinks?? Where is our food? This is what we wondered for 10 mins while we waited.. That being said when my boyfriend and I walked inaround 11:30 PM it was really slow and nobody was in there just only a couple of tables. We walked over to the booth to sit we were told by a waitress that we cannot sit there we have to sit at a large table because the booth is for people 4 or more. I told her we always sit there I have been to this place numerous times and have never gotten this type of rude service. Instead of arguing with her we just got up and sat at a table meanwhile no one ever sat in the booth the whole entire time that we were there. We ordered our drinks and the waitress was new she forgot our order so the other waitress came up and told us that she was new and she forgot which was fine but it took 10 minutes for us to get our drinks we got our hookah immediately that's the only service that was fast. Our drinks finally came and my boyfriends drink was disgusting, he sent it back and he did not recieve his new drink for another 10 minutes and I kindly asked for a side of Coke and that took 10 minutes as well meanwhile the waitress is just standing by the bar. We ordered our food therapy wings lamb skewers and Greek fries which took about 30 minutes to get the wings came out fast.and the waitress forgot to put in our order of fries and the lamb skewers were very little literally you get three and they're like the size of my pinky what a rip off seriously $10? The only reason why I would give this place a one star is because the environment and the music and has a wonderful ambience. Great for a date but the service is absolutely terrible I've been to this place numerous times and have never been so displeased in my life. If you're coming here please sit at the bar that's the only way you'll get fast service. I went here about a month ago on a weekend and it was super crowded so we had to wait for a table. I didn't mind waiting, the waitress was nice- she told us what table we were waiting for. Once the guy paid, and got up from the table, a couple cut in front of me and my friend and the waitress knew they were wrong so they told me that the couple had reserved the table over the phone and she asked me to go next door aka the other side of therapy where there were no people! I couldn't believe she told me that. I went next door and there was no one in there except the bartender. I was there on the weekend so I wanted to experience the atmosphere and I wanted to be around people...I will never go here again. So rude...customer service is horrible! The environment, music, and hookah was excellent. Unfortunately the food and service was subpar. Very disappointed. Some food was cold, the wings were old, and one person in our party didn't get everything she ordered because the waitress failed to write our order down. We weren't greeted by a waitress for some time. And after ordering a bottle of champagne for the table she only provided one glass. When asked to bring more, the ones that came our were filthy. I came across Therapy & Food Therapy a few weeks ago. I never took the time to stop by but I wanted Mediterranean, the food was amazing! I decided to stop by last night and try their hookah and it was awesome, it is better than any hookah I've ever had. The service was amazing, a young petite women was my waitress and she kept checking on me which made me feel important. I love this place. The only place I actually consider myself a "Regular." The lounge is owned by an Eritrean brother and sister. So yes, supporting these guys is supporting a locally owned business. The level of service here is always exceptional, everytime I go in there, it's hugs all around. The lounge is designed by Tamar, the co-owner of this establishment. From the hand crafted chandeliers to the art work, and wall stencil like designs, it has a warm, sophisticated yet cozy feel to it. My best guess is it holds a little over a hundred at full capacity. I personally hate the whole huge lounge/turn-it-to-a-club-at-night feel: Therapy is NOT THAT! They have a full bar, a full menu of hookahs (Mint is my favorite), desserts (Tiramisu anyone?), and a great food menu. The food menu has a cool concept. If you're in the mood for njera and habesha type food, they work with the neighboring restaurant so you don't have to leave to get your food, they'll bring it to you, just order it at Therapy. The family also owns Food Therapy, an ultra-chic Mediterranean restaurant about four doors down, and their menu is also accessible at Therapy Lounge. Whether you're looking to wind down after a long day, or looking to get together with a group of friends and hang out, or even if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere to conduct some business, check out Therapy. Horrible Experience. Definitely think twice before venturing out to therapy lounge again. My and a girlfriend came here around 12:15 am and first off, finding parking was ridiculously difficult. It took about 15-20 mins to find a parking spot, which is mainly because people from across the street park in therpy's complex. Walking up to the lounge we heard dancehall music (which i love) playing from inside. Inside we first saw a case of desserts (half of which were gone, but coming that late at night, it's expected), so we started looking at the menu (which was just laid out on top of the case) and figured out what we would like to order. There was nobody to come seat us so we walked over to the bar to seat ourselves and order. Before we could even sit down, the waitress comes over and tells me and my friend that they're about to close, which was weird because I remember checking on yelp and seeing that it closes at 2:30 am on a sunday night (which I even explained to the waitress). Even so, we asked if we can just take a dessert to-go. No. She told us that we couldn't, when I see no reason as to why she couldn't pack a dessert to go. So we ended up leaving and as we walked out, I noticed that the place was still full, and people were still smoking hookah and having their desserts . . . the place was NOWHERE NEAR closing for the night. When I came home, I checked the therapy lounge website in case yelp had the hours wrong, but they were right, it closes at 2:30 am. So I was very disappointed, was I not served because I was a different race than everyone else in the lounge? Was it because the waitress was lazy and didn't want to find a place to seat me and my friend? Or was it because they were busy and couldn't stretch the wait staff out that thin to accommadate 2 more people? Whatever the reason, it's not a good one. read more
