She has managed my daughter's complex dental implant process by coordinating with the orthodontist and periodontist to ensure a quality outcome. I am one of those unlucky people who takes care of my teeth, flosses daily, and still has a filling in every single tooth in my mouth. This makes going to the dentist something to dread. And while I wouldn't say I love going to any dentist, Dr. O'Brien's office is great. First off, the hygienist and receptionist are extremely friendly. When you arrive you are very promptly taken back to your chair and I've never waited more than five minutes for the appointment to start. They have a good selection of magazines to read as you wait. I have crappy insurance and the receptionist is good about making sure that she gives me accurate estimates for any dental work I have done. The hygienist always remembers things that are going on in my life and makes a point to follow up on things. Basically, they treat you like a person. Dr. O'Brien did my cleaning herself and is very gentle. While her staff is very outgoing she is slightly more reserved. It's not bad, I just get the feeling that she's happy to have a job where people have their mouth full and can't chat her up all day long. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Therese O'Brien has been my dentist for the past several years. During that time I have seen her for a variety of dental procedures. In every single case, I have been delighted with the outcome. Although I am not especially concerned about being in a dentist chair, it is certainly not my favorite experience. I'll tell you up front, this isn't a love story but it ends well! One of the hardest parts about starting over in a new city is...well....starting over. Every service you need has to be sourced and investigated to make sure you're not being fleeced or taken out to the shed. And to make it more daunting- I've never searched for medical care online before, I've always preferred word of mouth recommendations. But that's the leap of faith I had to take this year because I'm in a city where I didn't know anyone and the folks at work weren't much help (thanks a lot team *slow clap*). Finding a good dentist was really important because I take my dental health pretty seriously. I've gone to the dentist every 6 months for years and didn't want to fall off that schedule. I sourced, I investigated, and I eventually found Dr. Therese O'Brien and scheduled what I thought would be a routine appointment for care. A cleaning, a few X-rays and some tough news later, I had a treatment plan in hand that included multiple visits, trips to specialists, and a few thousand dollars in costs. Now I won't lie....I cried. I broke down and cried and then I got angry. "Cavities? Root Canal? Crown? Deep Cleaning? What the h$ll are you talking about, I GO TO THE DENTIST! I'm not the problem, YOU ARE!" (didn't say that verbatim, I just stuttered a few syllables out through my curtain of tears and hustled out of there) Dr. Therese calmly explained that I had been the victim of poor dental work for the past few years and if I wanted healthy teeth (I do) and wanted to be proactive (I did) I had to commit. Still angry and skeptical, I got a 2nd opinion. And....to my dismay, they quickly confirmed that yes, my mouth needed some T.L.C. and if I wanted healthy teeth, and wanted to be proactive....you know where I'm going with this. So I tucked tail and I went back to get the work done because although she was telling me something I didn't want to hear, she was telling me the truth. Although I'm not thrilled that I've spent a lot of money with Dr. O'Brien over the past few months, I AM thrilled to finally have quality dental care that I can trust. Michelle, Dana, Megan, Dr. Therese (I've met everyone at this point) are all friendly, professional and highly competent and I respect the work they do. I'm one of the very few people out there who actually enjoy visits to the dentist. As compared to visits to most other medical professionals, visits to the dentist always produce immediate results. Even after your first visit, you know if they're knowledgeable, if they're empathetic and gentle, and most importantly, you know if you're coming back. Well, I came back for two more appointments. And I will be back in 6 months for my regular. The location is easy to find, seemingly a typical midtown professional building, with ample parking. The facility is clean, fairly small but not cramped, and just generally warm and inviting. Michelle the receptionist is very nice and couldn't be more accommodating. What a hack!!! I had a crown put on by this butcher, the crown comes off, and she says she won't put it back on unless I pay her again????? I was told that since I was using a different dentist now they wouldn't replace the crown unless I paid for it. I've had a couple other crowns put on by other dentists and never had an issue with one coming off. I couldn't believe she would actually think I would pay her AGAIN. I paid for it to be done correctly the first time. I'm going to pay to have the crown replaced, but I won't be paying her. read more

Therese O'Brien cares about money and money only. I'd advise to find a dentist that actually cares about you instead of dismissing you. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist. I left their office in tears and in pain and now that I'm trying to work with them to see what my options are, OBrien wants to call me irrational and decline to see me because of my financial situation. Despite me being in SEVERE pain since last year until now. All I wanted was to her to put a crown over my tooth like she suggested during the last apt and the moment I ask for a payment arrangement because it's expensive emergency work, she laughs in my face advises me to see another dentist and said word for word "why would I see you if you do not have any money?" I've never been so upset from a dentist visit / phone call. I dont want to be in pain anymore and am more upset that it came to this. The worst experience I've ever had and for her to just laugh at me and make it clear that she has no intentions on helping me even though I've been seeing her since September 2021. It's upsetting and I'm beyond mad at myself for even trusting her or thinking she was a good dentist. Find another dentist, she isn't worth it. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. O'brien's for a few years now. I was thrilled to finally find a dentist I was happy with. She even fit my father in when he was visiting and had a dental emergency. What I like: 1. She is VERY gentle. 2. She is conservative in her approach. In my experience, she doesn't jump into doing anything radical and let's you know all of the options. 3. Michelle rocks. She always checks with my insurance to find out what my co-pay will be, calls to remind me about appointments, is friendly, and just seems happy with her job. 4. Both hygienists are friendly, knowledgeable, and do good work. 5. Cocoa can catch her little tennis ball on one bounce, is always thrilled to see you, and never barks. I also take my dog to work and was pretty much sold as soon as I saw their office dog. (At the time it was Jolly, who moved onto that great oak tree full of squirrels in the sky and made room for Cocoa.) No one actually likes going to the dentist. Having one who seems to understand that and goes out of her way to make her patients comfortable is awesome. read more

I went to Dr. O'Brien with a bit of a dentist phobia. I let her know this, and she was excellent at helping me remain calm. She explained everything she was doing clearly, and checked in with me often to make sure I was doing ok. I needed some work done around my gum line, and was very concerned it would be painful. I was in and out in less than an hour, and didn't experience any pain! It was incredible. I would highly recommend Dr. O'Brien's office and staff for excellent care and customer service! read more

They are rough, they don't ever listen to you... blank stare. a dog in the office...wtf. Find someone else. The good reviews are all old and they have had 5 different hygienists since I first started here a year ago. Wonder why... BLANK STARE. UPDATE - They wanted to do all kinds of weird stuff to me because I was experiencing a problem. They insisted I go to several specialists. What I had was a small cavity under a filling. I'll let you decide after reading my review. Dr. O"Brien was doing some drilling on one of my teeth and drilled a hole in the side of my tongue. Since I was numb from the novocaine, I didn't realize what had happened until I got home and the novocaine wore off. I was in a fair amount of discomfort and couldn't figure out why until I looked at my tongue in the mirror. There is no way she coulld not have known what she had done. To do that and not say anything is so incredibly unprofessional. Did she think that I wouldn't have found out? What was her thought process? Was it "Oh well, he'll not figure it out or he'll forget?" This was a total lack of concern for her patient. I also want my dentist to be a dentist and not a dentist with a side business of Botox injections. Either you are a dentist or not. Giving Botox injections on the side...really? There have been several times when Dr. O'Brien seemed super irritated. Her attitude clearly reflected that she doesn't like what she does. Going to the dentist isn't necessarily the most enjoyable experience in the first place. To go there and feel like your dentist is in a bad mood doesn't make it any better of an experience. If you don't like what you do, go do something different. Lastly, leave your dog at home. You have patients with mouths open and have a pet who sheds in the same office. So it was Thanksgiving Day 2014, I had just moved to Sacramento from Denver but was visiting family back in CO and sheared a tooth in half on account of an old filling. Got on the phone either that Friday or the next Monday and Michelle returned my call right away and got me in to see Dr. Therese that week. Fixed me up with a temporary (I actually fell asleep in the chair while she was working), and also gave me a maintenance and work list that I followed over the next several months and couldn't have been more pleased. The dental hygienist (person that cleans your teeth) is really good. She makes my teeth super clean and scared me into flossing every night which has apparently made my teeth/gums way healthier. Dr. O'Brien seems pretty good, I've only gone twice but for some reason she is always preoccupied with something else. Hands down the best dentist I have ever been too. First of all, I'm a large guy who is hilariously afraid of all things dental; even exams. I would make any and every excuse to cancel or reschedule appointments, due to my "dental phobia" (as diagnosed by google) that I suffer from. That changed with Dr. O'Brien. Now, I actually show up for my appointments, and don't feel like there world is to end when they call me to the chair. The office is clean, and very relaxing. The assistant and Michelle at the front desk are awesome. And then there's Dr. O'Brien, the only dentist I will sit still for. I've had a few fillings done or repaired, and each experience was very good. I used to require laughing gas (which she offers), and I have never had or wanted to ask for it here. She has a sweet digital x-ray machine too, if you're a techie like me that appreciates the finer electronics in life. On a serious note, this is an excellent dentist. I've been a patient of Dr. Therese O'Brien for about 3 years. I'm very satisfied! Dr. O'Brien is professional and meticulous. Her staff is courteous and capable. When my previous dentist retired, he turned his practice over to another dentist. For several reasons, I didn't stay. I put off getting a new dentist for a year. But then I found Dr. O'Brien at the suggestion of friends who are patients of hers. I'm so glad I did. Cleanings for me are done using ultrasonic scaling. No scraping with metal tools. I really appreciate that Dr. O'Brien uses this method in her office. I have had fewer needs for dental procedures since going to Dr. O'Brien. In the past it seemed like there were always several of my teeth "on watch". And nearly every cleaning visit, one of those "watches" became a procedure. I was concerned that it may have been more about my previous Dr. needing to make a boat payment and less about my oral health. In the last three years, I've only had one filling. I changed dental plans about a year ago, and yet there was never an issue with any of my billing. So I'd say that the office staff do a great job with regards to keeping the money side organized. Also, I like that I get email and text reminders of my upcoming appointments. I have never had to wait. Dr. O'Brien keeps her appointments on schedule. Since I usually have to schedule my appointments around my lunch break from work, being timely is important to me. I've been so satisfied with my regular dental care that I decided to get Invisalign. I'm about 8 weeks into the treatment and it's been going great. Either Dr. O'Brien or her staff has called to check on me in between the scheduled visits.
