Tonight's theme was Shrek and the mood that the car set tonight was on point! Right when we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest host. Once she checked our IDs, we walked up to the bar to order drinks. One of the bartenders was dressed Doris from the movies and it was fantastic. We got to try the Shrek special, ginger beer, dark portal and Garden wall this evening and all of the drinks were great! I especially liked the refreshing taste of the Garden Wall and will definitely be back for that. Trivia night was a lot of fun and the host did well. I feel bad for all the manual work he had to do to tally things up and hope there is a better way to do this as the game took a bit longer as expected. Not a big deal because it gave everyone time to get more drinks and to mingle. Loved the staff here - these are some of the nicest bartenders I've met in a while and it's refreshing! Super vibey spot. medieval, witchy, Skyrim, all the above. Great decor and great presentation of drinks are the strengths. The drinks were about a 6.5/10, the Winter Dry was our favorite. I heard so much about this place, so I checked out their website. Looked amazing. Upon arrival, the place was dead, but it was early... the music was on a repeating loop, so it was a bit repetitious: Video Game Music. Okay... I like it. I can dig Zelda songs all day. WiFi was weak... enough to work, but nothing heavy. The decor was cool... a bit of a stretch, but it's a new spot. I get it. The cider and mead were just okay. I hate to say that because I can really get behind the cause - ima nerd and this place is nerd to the core. It's was just okay... pretty weak selection, BUT the service was excellent. Bartenders were attentive, and it really picked up as the afternoon progressed. 2 stars for the liquids, 5 stars for the staff, and 4 stars for the decor. Lots of large tables, really cool decor, and a different vibe than most bars: more relaxed, comfortable, not pretentious but definitely not a dive bar either. They have a lot of cider & other drink options, and often a food truck outside. Free street parking or a small lot behind the restaurant. The drinks are mediocre but some fun presentations and good prices. We tried the NA Burning Hands - good & sweet, seasonal Frenzied Flame - weird flavor, and Chaotic Evil cider flight. In the flight: Neverwinter Dry was watery and boring, Dark Portal is an ok semi-sweet cider, and Rootweaver is an interesting root beer mead (best in the flight). First time I came here I thought it was really cool, but now Im more convinced I may have had too much to drink at a previous place to realize the drinks arent that good. I went with some friends recently and the staff is nice, but the drinks not great. I'd give them probably a 5/10 being generous. My strong recommendation if you see the Mexican food truck outside. Was so excited to finally check this place out! It's warm and welcoming to all. It has a medieval theme to it, and is a space that encourages people to bring games - several tables had large games that were being played. They also had decks of cards and games behind the bar for you to borrow. There were two house ciders on the menu - the Pink Pony was my favorite. It was one of the best ciders I've ever had. Their other house cider was more dry, still delicious, but I enjoy sweeter ciders more, personally. I got a flight of ciders - they had a bunch of local ciders from Second Summit, and a handful of other local ciders from surrounding states. The flight I believe was $7 and I got to try 3 cider tasters. Also - the bathrooms here are SO cool. Each one had a different theme, and all the details down to the faucet were so thoughtful. What a cool place! The inside of this place is decorated so cool, felt like I was in a dungeon or fantasy game haha. The vibe, people and decorations were all on point. They even offer games for you and your party to play. I got the black widow cider- one of my favs by Original Sin and my boyfriend got the NA version, the white widow. It tasted just like mine, but non- alcoholic. Our friends also tried some other ciders from the tap and all were delicious! Such a fun place, will definitely be back! read more

I really have liked the addition of Thieves Guild to the 900S neighborhood. We've come here a few times with various groups of friends, and they're always welcoming. Love the nerdy atmosphere too! Get your freak on with games, D&D, laughter, drinks, and more. It's fun!! Definitely a different vibe than other places in the area in the best way. Also, you need to check out the themed bathrooms!! They're incredible. And they have a good rotation of food trucks to pair with drinks. Thank you! read more

As a cider-lover, I had this place on my radar as soon as a friend told me about it. They just opened about a month ago, so although I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have any of their own ciders on tap yet due to red tape, I was told that they would finally have them flowing on Friday Dec 6th. Unfortunately I don't live in SLC, so I'll have to stop in again on my next visit. Instead of cider, I ordered their "Orb of Pondering". The bartender was super friendly and delivered the drink to our table, smoke-filled bubble intact. Once it popped and the smoke drizzled out across our table, we took a sip of the fantastic house-made raspberry unfused cocktail - it was delicious! It even came with a light-up ice cube- perfect for the lantern-lit Lord of the Rings/Dungeons and Dragons vibe. They have velvet-curtained booths and other fun decor, plus each of the three bathrooms had a delightfully unique style. Apparently Thieves Guild even has its own lore, though I didn't get the chance to learn about it. Next time! (and hopefully I can add a star once I try their cider). read more

This cider and mead bar was a nice find in a hip part of Salt Lake City. We were fortunate to notice it as we drove by to get on the freeway and made a mental note to come back and check it out. Lots of ciders on draft inside. The flight was a great idea to try several and find what we liked to then get a glass of. Unfortunately we missed the Goblin Juice special cider they had tapped that weekend for St. Patrick's Day because it was so popular. As part of the flight I had to try the chili guava, which had a nice fruity and spice flavor, but was too much to get a full pour of. My wife loved the sweetness of the pineapple cider and I really liked the juicy apple flavor of the imperial cider. If cider isn't your thing you can also get a few beers on draft and they have a full bar for cocktails. The place was surprisingly busy on a Sunday evening and the patrons were all playing various card and board games. The evening we were there they also had S.A.L.T. Suburban Kitchen with delicious dumplings, a surprising butter chicken crispy bar that we loved, and a heaping serving of brisket fries with mornay sauce. The owner and cashier were so nice and helpful and offered us a sample of their shu mai with signature sauces. You have to try to find this food truck! read more

This place is no good. The bartenders are so hoped up they don't know your drink order and can't find your card. I wouldn't give them any form of payment. I asked for a whiskey old fashioned and got a fire lit tequila. Then asked for my card and they couldn't find it. Ya no good. read more
