But the owner of the store went above and beyond to make sure i was happy ... returned my items to be dry-cleaned a second time, free of charge, and offered to tailor them to make repairs, free of charge, if I wasn't happy. I went to the Thimble to get two pairs of off the shelf suit pants tailored. I had the rise taken up, the legs tapered. the cuff changed, and the pants shortened. Essentially I bought the wrong fit, and they were able to fix. Let me tell you the result of the changes are now two pairs of pants that fit and feel great. Being a taller and larger guy with no butt, it's hard to buy good fitting clothes. The thimble transformed my pants into great fitting clothes. read more

I have witnessed Fatima be downright disrespectful to her employees on multiple occasions. I took a maxi dress and a bridesmaid dress here. The maxi dress needed to be shortened in length and also have the straps shortened as well. The length was done correctly however, one of the straps was sewn on backwards. The bridesmaid dress needed to be shortened and have the front sewn closed a bit more, since it was a little bit too revealing. The dress was again, hemmed fine. However, the front closure was completely awful. The seam was puckered and looked horrific, it made no sense as to how it was done. My sister, who lives in New York City, and had the same dress, took hers to a tailer to have the same work done and it looked perfect. The owner of the store was completely rude and told both my mother and I that we did not know how this fabric works...well obviously she didn't either. So not only was there poor workmanship there was also extremely rude customer service as well. I would absolutely never recommend this shop to anyone. read more

I was looking for a reliable, talented tailor, after a not-so-talented tailor practically ruined my favorite sport coat. I needed the sleeves shortened, and instead of preserving the functioning buttons by shortening at the top of the sleeve, he removed the buttons, shortened from the bottom of the sleeve (rendering the button holes useless), and then tacked the buttons back on to the outside of the sleeve. Yikes... Practically broke my heart to see. I asked Fatima if it was repairable. Without making any promises, she said she would see what she could do. Fatima was able to reverse the shoddy work, repair the bottoms to working condition, and shorten the sleeves from the top. Came out looking like new! Couldn't have had a better outcome, and now I have a tailor I know I can trust whole heartedly. Totally worth the drive from Buffalo to know everything is going to come out looking great. read more

My husband is going through the academy for corrections and as some may know they have to get things done on the weekend. We were very worried we would not find any where that could do what needed to be done on the same day on and also on a Saturday but once we found Thimble our prayers were answered. The knowledge and experience of the team at Thimble is unmatched. I have never been to a better tailor shop in Western New York. The environment is pleasing and the staff is so nice. I brought in two suits to be tailored, both fit me very differently. Fatima, the owner, was so friendly and made me feel great about having the clothes adjusted. Everything was reasonably priced and ready on time. These two suits are now my favorites in my wardrobe. I'm going to bring so much more in to them now that I know how good it is. I have taken several items to Thimble and overall it's been very good. Friendly staff who are eager to help. One thing to note- be careful if you get jeans tailored here. I had the waist brought in on a pair of nice jeans and they put pleats in the back (instead of cutting the fabric and re-sewing). It looks horrible! I also asked them if they could use the original hem on another pair of jeans, and they looked at me like I was crazy. That was all the answer I needed. I think they do good work, but do NOT take jeans here. read more

I have been going to them for several years for all of my tailoring. I have had them do a wide variety of things and have been extremely pleased every time. I also take my dry cleaning there and they do a much better job than other dry cleaners I've been too plus they charge a lot less! Prices are reasonable, staff is extremely friendly and take time to make sure you are happy with the work and the turn around time is very fast. I have never waited more than a few days for anything. They are family owned and make an effort to get to know their customers which is extremely important to me! I would never take my clothing anywhere else and recommend them to all of my friends and family! read more

Best tailor I have ever been to! My winter jacket needed some extra room in the shoulder area, and the father-daughter duo working at Thimble were completely professional and efficient. I went on my lunch break and they fit in a dry clean and hem of my pants. She washed the coat for me twice and pointed out some stains that they couldn't get out and offered to try again. Worst customer service ever!! I went here in February to get my wedding dress altered. They told me to put it on and a tailor would be with me. I put it on and walked out and when the tailor came out he told me that I shouldn't come back until July as I was going to loose weight (I was not planning on it) and to come back closer to the wedding date. He gave me an estimate of $350 for the alterations (shortening, taking in, fixing beads and adding a bustle). I went in there today with my mom and FMIL and was asked to fill out a paper saying what needed to be done and how much I WANTED to spend on alterations (I put $200). I waited 40 minutes for Fatima to come and meet with me, the man I spoke with in February apparently doesn't deal with bridal gowns. Fatima finally met with me and told me that it was going to cost $700 I got my dress at a sample sale for $400 and said I was not paying that for alterations. I explained what happened in February and she said that there was No way he quoted me that, he came over and again explained that I was told to come back in case I wanted to loose weight. She told me that it wasn't going to be a good fit and I should go to the retailer where I purchased the dress so I could get a discount. I don't understand how a business can stay open when they treat people like that. I am appalled that my money wasn't good enough for this place. Just because I put down I wanted to spend $200, I was expecting $400. My dress was originally 1200$ and I am told typically you pay about 30% of the full price in alterations that would have been $360! I have never felt so un welcomed and disrespected. read more

Being new to the area and in need for a decent tailor I decided to take a chance with this family owned business. Big event, Im speaking in front of a professional crowd and needed everything shortening - that day. Spoke with the son of the original owner (who is still there working by the looks of it) and he guaranteed me a 5 hour turn around if I made it in before 9am. The work was expertly prepared and subsequently completed. I was sorry to hear about the one reviewer's experience (and nearly went elsewhere to be honest) - I guess unfortunate mistakes happen, but personally, I cannot speak highly enough of my own experience here. I would most certainly recommend the company, and feel as though Ive found a tailor for life (which is good - it appears that I have short arms and short legs!). read more

Unfortunately, this review is not about quality of work, but rather about the ethics of those who own and work for the company. My father passed in May of 2012 and my husband purchased a suit that weekend since he did not have one to wear. The suit needed to be tailored quickly and Thimble Tailoring and Clothier was referred to us, as they have been known for speedy work. We dropped my husband's suit off to be altered the morning after we purchased the suit as soon as Thimble opened. We told the tailor that the suit was for my father's funeral the next day. The tailor guaranteed the suit would be ready that same night and said we could pick the suit up before close. We said that since the calling hours were until late, we would have to pick the suit up the next morning (the day of the funeral) as soon as Thimble Tailoring opened. The tailor said this would be fine as the suit would already be finished the night prior. The next morning, we arrived early to make sure we entered as soon as the tailor opened. When Thimble opened, my husband went in, the man assured him the pants were finished. However, we waited 20 minutes for the tailor to find his pants as he was claiming he knew they were finished. When the tailor found the pants, they had not been altered. Both tailors worked to rectify the situation, but at this point, it had been 35 minutes that we were waiting. I was now possibly going to miss the limo for my father's funeral. When the pants were done, my husband asked what the total would be. The tailor said we would have to pay full price. Paying full price was not the issue, but rather it was the larger picture. These people made a gross error and did not compensate for their error in order to make the situation better. Due to their error, and the time we waited, I missed the limo to my father's funeral. The limo was not the issue, but rather it was the woman inside the limo, my mother. She wanted her children to ride in the limo with her to provide her with comfort while she made that heartbreaking ride. Unfortunately because of Thimble Tailoring I was unable to provide her with that support. I usually do not express my feelings about negative experiences because why hold onto the negative? However, in this situation, I feel this story needed to be heard. On a day like a parent's funeral, you do not want to be thinking about anything except your family and loved ones. Yet, based on our experience with Thimble Tailoring, we were unable to do that leading up to the funeral. We barely got to the church on time. Hopefully in the future, those who own and work for Thimble Tailoring and Clothier will consider the people they serve as opposed to solely thinking about the money they are trying to earn. read more

I came heere directly from the Hickey Freeman factory store (per their recommendation). They were able to tailor my new jacket perfectly, in only 30 minutes! Well to be completely honest, it took 31.... but talk about being reliable. After walking in and asking for them to ship it back to Boston for me, the tailor said he could do it in 30 minutes and he delivered. The jacket fits perfectly, and I couldnt be happier! read more
