This is my first time trying Thai Milk Tea but man was it delicious! I have found a new favorite drink! The little one tried the strawberry watermelon slushie and he said it was okay. I tried it and it tasted delicious to me, however I don't like my slushies super duper diabetic coma sweet like the little. The slushie had lots of flavor and wasn't thick at all. Coming from California, I didn't have very high (if any) expectations for finding good boba. As a self proclaimed boba expert, I can say with confidence this place is really good. Usually I have some reserves about ordering my favorite drink (lychee green tea with boba) as it can often be flavorless. To my complete surprise, it was deliciously sweet and full of lychee flavor with that hint of bitter green tea aftertaste that I love. The boba was super sweet even through the center. The only complaint that I may have is that even though I asked for extra boba, I was given a pretty mediocre scoop of the good stuff. Other than that, it was fantastic. read more

After I moved back home to Birmingham, one of the things I really missed was good boba tea. There was a stand in the Galleria the first year I got back, but it was kind of underwhelming. So when I saw ThirsTea's sign during a visit to Valleydale, I had to stop in. My brother had never tried bubble tea before, and I was prepared for it to be mediocre, so we picked something simple -- coconut milk tea with the standard boba. And the drinks were amazing. The flavors were bright and fresh, and the boba perfectly prepared. Currently trying to invent reasons to visit Inverness Plaza more often, because ThirsTea has a menu with enough options to keep you exploring for a very long time. The sheer variety of teas, juices and milk drinks plus boba and jellies and other add-ins will allow you to build just about whatever you can imagine. As someone mentioned in another review, if you get overwhelmed, just watch the animated panel until you see a combination drink that looks appealing. (And boy, they all look appealing.) Here's to hoping ThirsTea takes off and opens up a few more locations around town. But even if you're not near the 280 corridor all that often, they're definitely worth a special trip. read more

I goto this place and think. Meal or Drink. Because drinks are as much as a burgers and fries next door at steak and shake. I been here several times. Mainly because there aren't many choices for bubble tea in town. We all know it's nothing more than sugary flavor drinks. Pennies to make but pay $6 a drink. That being said, I do like the place. Neat place for me and my child to drink and place board games. At times I feel young again as I used to do this back 20 years when I paid overly expensive coffee at a local coffeehouse to just hang (pre Starbucks days). I always looked for a good bubble tea place in Birmingham ever since I tasted really good bubble tea in Atlanta. The Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants would also disappointment because their bubble tea doesn't taste like bubble tea and are really 60% filled with ice. ThirsTea bubble tea is very good in my opinion but pricey. One time, I asked for no ice (which is $0.50) and received ice. I think it's ridiculous to charge for no ice just because they have to add a little more of the actual drink. In Atlanta, I can get better bubble tea, two kinds of boba or jelly for free, and no ice for free. But I guess when you're in Birmingham and are craving bubble tea, the only good place is here. I used to live in the Bay Area, and when I moved here to Birmingham, I really missed having boba. I've tried a few places here in town, and this is by far the best place in Birmingham. Granted, this would probably be a 4 star place compared to California, but really there's no great competition in Birmingham. I usually get the almond or taro milk tea with boba here. The pearls are cooked well with the right amount of chewiness. The tea flavoring is fairly good, just a tad too sweet for my liking but otherwise good. For some reason their processing time is a little slower than I would expect, but not a deal breaker. Overall, pretty good place to fulfill your boba needs. read more

I don't know if they have them anymore, but the first time I went in, I got a frequent buyer's card, where if you buy nine drinks you get the tenth free. Love it! It's so nice to have a place here that only serves bubble tea! Taro and almond with plain bobas are my favorites. The bobas are cooked well and always so fun to eat. YES! This place makes me so happy. I'm glad there's a bubble tea place in Birmingham now. The menu is very large and diverse. The best thing about it is that you have the option to order your drink warm or iced. I hate when bubble teas are blended with ice. The boba balls just get frozen. This place has chia seeds, rainbow jelly, large boba and mini boba! There are lots of flavors too. I got the almond milk which was creamy and delicious. It wasn't too sweet or too intense in flavor. The large is VERY large and it was only $3! The teas were actual brews, which is awesome. The music was cool and there was a lot of room to chill. The hostess was very nice. Although it was strange that someone had to come over with their iPhone and a square reader to swipe my card (I guess they're still very new). The place didn't look finished yet....there were still patches on the wall where it needed an extra coat of paint and there wasn't much on the walls. but when it starts to get more business I hope it they fix it up. My 11-year-old daughter's favorite place to go for an after-school treat. She always gets the popping boba no matter what flavor smoothie she gets. I'm a traditional boba kind of girl. I LOVE the Thai milk tea both hot and cold, but have had very little to complain about no matter what I get. I can't wait to try the custom grilled cheese sandwiches. There are literally hundreds of combinations to make a meal here between the grilled cheese choices and the drink choices.
