I love boba. Put some of those delicious squishy tapioca balls in a beverage and you can be sure I will enjoy it. Boba is a tricky thing though... The balls have to have a certain freshness and squishiness. Get the balls wrong and the whole thing is a waste. This place knows about boba balls. They tasted great! I had a mocha smoothie and my partner had an avocado smoothie. I wanted to order another flavor after my first sip just to save for later. What a treat! read more

After having bubble tea on the west coast I set out to find some in Birmingham! Even though this spot was a little out of the way from downtown, it was worth the drive. The store was clean and organized with bright colors and the front employee was friendly and provided recommendations. I got the Thai milk tea and grilled cheese on sour dough with turkey. I came to ThirsTea with some friends for a celebratory tea and had a great experience overall. When I walked in, I was a little unsure because it wasn't overly decorated and kind of had a hipster vibe. I opted for a passionfruit slushie instead of a tea and was not disappointed. It was very sweet, but it suited my taste buds perfectly. My friends got a variety of boba teas from the taro to the coconut and liked them. I loved that they had board games to play while you enjoy your beverage and we sat around playing Apples to Apples and laughing. All in all it was a great time! read more

I came here on my recent trip to visit relatives and I was craving boba (from southern California where boba is popular) and I was thoroughly satisfied when I found out that there was boba in the general area. Thirstea has a wide variety of options and the quality even surpasses most of the drinks back home. I came here at like 4 times on my month trip and I even lugged around my siblings as well to enjoy a taste of home. This place is legit. The options are great and the drinks are made fresh. This cafe is THE place to go in Birmingham! I think it's the only Boba Tea Cafe and it does not disappoint at all. The Boba is well made to perfection and there are so many flavors to choose from! You can get milk tea, fruit tea, smoothies, yogurt drinks and slushies! They also have different types of boba, not just the typical black tapioca balls! I kind of have high standards since I'm from CA where boba is everywhere, but I thought this place was just average. I got the watermelon tea, and while the aloe was 4/5, the tea tasted artificially flavored. I love fresh watermelon juice/tea, so I was disappointed. Love bubble tea! So glad this place is close to my house! My only 2 critiques are that napkins need to be available because I've spilled a little on myself three times now. With all employees in the back, you have to go up to the counter so they'll notice you on the camera. They recently stopped offering the frequent visitor card. Wouldn't you want to reward your best customers and encourage them to come more and bring friends/family? This would definitely help spread the word in an area where most people have never heard of bubble tea. read more

Taste: 5/5. The drink was very refreshing and real fruits were added into it. I personally would like it a little bit sweeter but it didn't matter because the taste of fresh fruit makes up for it. Cleanliness: 5/5. Although I couldn't see their process of making the drink, the place is very clean. Environment: 4/5. The lights decoration are colorful and attractive to people outside. However, I could tell that this place is still new and unfinished; it needs some improvements inside to fill up the emptiness such as the wall. Service: 5/5. I only get to talk to one of the staff there, Ashley. But she was nice enough to take my orders multiple times when I came back at 11 pm. Price: 5/5. The price is really low for their quality drinks. I love this little place. The drinks are delicious and it's a really fun environment. They have tons of board games to play while you hang out. I brought my sisters here after dinner one night and we ended up staying for a few hours because we were having such a good time. This is a great place to hang out if you aren't into the bar scene (or are too young). It's family friendly but without being too childish. read more

When Koko Bubble Tea in the Galleria, closed up shop last year, I thought I'd go crazy. Where was I supposed to get my fix for green tea smoothies?? I was an unfulfilled soul for months, my taste buds were lifeless, my metaphysical light on the dimmest setting. (sigh) What was a girl with unrequited cravings to do? Then, like a beacon of hope from above, my sister texted me these simple words, "You HAVE to go to Thirstea's in Inverness". I could feel the excitement coursing through me, my mouth watering at the possibilities. Could this be the one? Oh My God! It was fantastic! Even better than I expected. The sweet and beautiful green of the Honeydew; the tart vivaciousness of the Mango! Hallelujah hallelujah! Then I discovered popping pearls, tiny little gems of deliciousness, that when added to my green tea smoothies, transported me straight to Nirvana. Each small pearl is a powerhouse of sweet, kiwi flavored ambrosia that tickles your tongue in a way that can only be described as cosmic. Thank you, Thirstea House, for bringing joy back into my afternoon. I'll see you again soon...very soon. P.S. First time here and I ordered a Vietnamese coffee with boba. Asked them to put less sugar because I love my coffee strong. It was the first time I'd had coffee with boba (at the cashiers suggestion) and I will definitely be making that my regular choice, although everything on the menu looked amazing. I really loved this place! This was my first time having bubble tea, and it was wonderful. I ordered a peppermint milk tea, and my boyfriend ordered a blueberry yogurt drink. We both had boba in it of course, that's why we were there. The atmosphere is really chill. There were two dudes playing connect four, two mothers with their adorable kids (Not the screaming kind. They were just chillin'), me and my boyfriend, and two businessmen. The place is really small, but that's okay. I will definitely be coming back here. This place is top notch! The drinks and add-ons are always made fresh. I haven't gotten anything here that I don't like. Their menu is quite extensive so I haven't tried everything yet but I always go for a cold milk tea with boba and egg pudding. The milk tea is great hot too! The owners are super friendly and make everyone feel like a valued customer. Everyone should definitely check this place out. I'm glad Bham finally has a legit tea place like this now. This California girl could not have been more excited to hear about a bubble tea place in Birmingham - too bad it's not closer to downtown (hint hint). I am boring when it comes to bubble tea and usually order the black milk tea. The tea tasted fresh and it wasn't too sweet. They even deliver the tea to your table so you don't have to stand and wait for it. It's a great place to just hang out and talk or play board games for a while.
