We've eaten here about 10 times over the last 3 years, enjoyed every visit. The variety of food is excellent, I'm always surprised by something unexpected (Kung Pao chicken?!). The service has been quite good. I'm a person who likes spicy food, but my ideal preference is food spiced well, giving it lots of flavor. Recently had the fish and chips: no clue what type of fish it was, but it tasted perfect. The batter on the fish wasn't too thick and it spiced perfectly. The fries were spiced well, the homemade tartar sauce with dill was excellent. I'm even a fan of the coleslaw: not too thick, fresh ingredients with a light sauce. Unexpectedly, had to order a Thirsty Lion meal from a delivery service: everything showed up packed perfectly, nothing missing. The attention to detail impressive, the fact that they included a wedge of lemon for the fish and even a sprig of something green for a garnish was a nice touch. If you've noticed that a lot of restaurants are starting to have a similar taste...you're not hallucinating...I call them SYSCO restaurants. More and more restaurants have their menus designed and their ingredients provided by 1 company...a company that specializes in cafeteria food. Thankfully, the Thirsty Lion doesn't have that vibe (when and if it does, we'll never return). read more

Definitely a 5-star experience on Friday as lunch and the visit with a good friend was perfect. I have not been to the Tanasbourne location yet and I was thrilled to realize how close it is to our house, and how good it was. We shared the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp appetizer and it was very good. My friend had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl and the presentation was excellent. I had the Reuben with the hand-cut fries and tartar sauce for dipping. So good. I have been on a Reuben tasting spree, and this was the real deal. I am already anxious to come back to order it again as it was that flavorful. this branch has significantly improved since the last times i have visited, that i've been more open to trying more dishes on their menu - i was surprisingly impressed to see how fresh their ahi poke stack was! it was a great snack that isnt too heavy. i always love coming here because of their open kitchen layout inside, as well as the bar area in the center of the space. the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted by the hostess and sat at one of the many tables and booths they have. they have plenty of choices on their menu that spans many preferences, so there should be something for everyone to enjoy. read more

We were able to get a table without a reservation at 7:30 which was nice. It took about 5 minutes to be greeted by our server. We got drinks and then put in our appetizer order. The cauliflower was great! I asked for a water 2 times and ended up having to get up and go to the bar. At the bar 2 people looked at me but did not help me (including a manger or supervisor). One of the gals at the bar ended up bringing a water to our table, since our waitress couldn't help me. The food was fine but not amazing (besides the cauliflower). Our service was just not very attentive, we were not offered refills until 20 minutes after we finished our drinks and it took a while to get boxes and our check. The food was fine, but the service was definitely disappointing. It really made our experience here a bummer. read more

Another great gluten free meal at Thirsty Lion. Our server Sean was wonderful. We had the cod tacos and grilled salmon Caesar salad with dressing on the side. I always like their grilled salmon, but didn't want a full meal with rice. The salad was a mixture of romaine & field greens which I prefer and the dressing was authentic. Ended up taking half the salad home; our server brought a fresh to go dressing. As always this place can be on the noisy side due to the music & if crowded. The pub is huge and had a great atmosphere when we entered so we were excited! The drinks were great although my rosemary gin and tonic was not too strong but the spicy margarita was quite good! Cauliflower bites were the star of the show for sure! Chicken in chicken wings with dry rub and blue cheese was pretty obviously stale and that was a bummer. The tacos were okay and the artisan flatbread was pretty good. All in all a good to average experience. Might go back to try the brunch there some day. My recent experience wasn't all that great. I was hanging out with my sister and we decided to grab a bite. It was 8:30pm and not a lot was open at that time of night on a Monday in Hillsboro. We saw that Thirsty Lion was open till 10pm. The ambiance is nice when we walked in. Got seated immediately. Service is prompt and friendly. My sister ordered an Amaretto Sour, and she said it was delicious. I got iced tea. There isn't much in the way of vegan food. I saw the cauliflower, but the aioli contains mayo, and the tempura batter also contained egg. There's a Beyond Burger that they put cheese on. I mean I could order that, but without vegan sauces and cheese, the burger would be boring, and I would rather make my own at home for way less money. I opted for guacamole, chips and salsa. I was offered more chips when I ran out. My sister and I did spend a pleasant hour there. read more

Honestly we were looking for chicken and this location features several dishes. After sampling the menu we settled on an appetizer of chicken, the wings with a tasty BBQ sauce. I ordered the poke bowl with Ahi tuna and it was very delicious. A generous helping and I enjoyed it so much I ate every bite. No leftovers. Too many ingredients to list. Check out the menu. My friends ordered the Gastropub house burger with bacon which they both remarked was quite large, and the fries were nicely crisped. Our daughter, the Brussel sprouts, quinoa, and roasted chicken salad which she said was very flavorful, and she had some left over to take home. We left room to share dessert; apple crumble which comes with ice cream. Five spoons and one for our server Alexandra, she joked. I must say she was very fun and took excellent care of us. We also ordered some non alcoholic drinks, and I enjoyed the ginger lemonade. Visiting this restaurant for the first time in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. The group of 3 of us came on a Friday around 4:30pm for Happy Hour and were greeted right when we walked in and seated at a high top table in the bar area. (However they did say you can get HH deals wherever you sit in the restaurant which is a great perk!) The restaurant is open and busy and decorated with St.Patrick's Day signs and inflatables to advertise their new special menu. Our waitress was fast and friendly and got our order right away for HH. We all got different versions of the lemonade and teas which were delicious and refreshing, and ordered a few plates to share. The HH menu range from $8-12 which was perfect for our group to try different things. We got fries, spinach artichoke dip, salmon cakes, and carnitas tacos (we liked that so much that we ordered a second plate!) I wasn't expecting much from the food but I was impressed by how hot, fresh and flavorful our food tasted. The crowd favorites were for sure the carnitas tacos and fries. The chips were thin and crispy for the creamy spinach dip but the salmon cakes were just OK. We are able to split our bill evenly and pay right at the table with the handhelds with our waitress. I really love it when restaurants have these options. The vibes of this place can be romantic or sports bar-y depending on where you are seated but I would definitely recommend their Happy Hour deals! read more

My new favorite brunch spot. The brunch menu is what made us come in and it did not disappoint. I'll start with the fact that they add 3% charge to the bill to help with competitive wages/benefits. I stopped in for happy hour and had a great experience. Chris was my server, and he was excellent. I'm a bariatric patient, so I can eat very little at a time. I had 2 drinks, a margarita and one of the seasonal drinks. Both were excellent. I was appreciative that I was able to take my leftovers with me. I got the fried chicken sliders, and they were so good! I hear that they allow dogs outside? I might need to bring my doggo some day soon. Regardless, I will be back. read more

The place has an upscale vibe with friendly staff, music videos on large screen tv, a huge bar and dining room. We like the booths, although the lighting has something to be desired with pendants hanging just above eye level and shining brightly on the food with a bit too much light in my eye for comfort. We have gone to Thirsty Lion a few times and had good service. We both had the Szechuan Orange Chicken and it was good. Some of my chicken pieces seemed like they had been from a previous batch of cooking as they weren't as hot and fresh as some of the others. The flavor was good on it. But this last time our waiter was more interested in talking to a couple at another table than attending his tables. We got our food served and then he proceeded to talk to the other table across the room the whole time we were eating not coming over to check to see if we were good or needed anything. We were completely done and had to request our check from another person and cash out with them as our waiter was still talking to the other couple. The ambiance in the restaurant was fine, I think we were just after a dinner rush so it wasn't too busy. We have had better service, especially when we sit in the bar area. read more

We sat at a high top in the bar area, Brianna was our server. Fantastic visit, Brianna was knowledgeable and friendly with several suggestions. I've been curious about the various Thirsty Lion gastropubs, but never been inside of one until this past weekend, when during a Christmas shopping foray, we decided to stop in for a drink and a quick snack while in the area. As we weren't particularly hungry, between the Ahi Poke Stack, some Spicy Fried Chicken Sliders, and a cocktail a piece, all off the Happy Hour menu, we left feeling satisfied, yet also hungry for more, having seen several other items on the menu that enticed us. The interior is modern, dimly lit, clean and spacious, without any particular influence or flair, yet still charming and welcoming, halfway between a sports bar and an upscale bistro. Service was great to start, and a little difficult to track down at the end, but otherwise adequate. Although our quick stop was something of a mere appetizer of what the Thirsty Lion has to offer, it was intriguing enough to warrant a return visit to sample the main courses. We'll be back, whenever chance finds us in the area. read more

I've been here on a few occasions (pre- and post-covid times), mainly to do lunch with coworkers or simply hanging out with friends after work. To me, Thirsty Lion is a typical three-star type of bar, but with each visit as of late, the food and service have really improved, in my opinion. Here's a little thirst about this place: ~ Indoor DINING, they've got plenty of table space, well spread out. You can easily find a table for two, grab a spot at the bar, or sit in a booth. It's definitely a place that can accommodate large groups. As for outdoor, they have a few tables with patio heaters. ~ As for the STAFF, with my visits, the hostesses/servers/bartenders have been pretty attentive. I've seen the staff take turns wiping things down, keeping things clean. That's another plus! Our last visit was with Justin, who was fantastic; always checked if we needed anything. ~ As for the FOOD, here's what I've tried: * Creamy Queso Dip - an excellent starter. * Sautéed Brussel Sprouts - delectable I'd say. * Artichoke Spinach Dip - eh, I prefer the queso dip instead. * Crispy Calamari - wish I had more for the price, but they're decent. * Fresh Hand Cut Fries - love'em! * Traditional Scotch Eggs - crisy and soft goodness! * Grilled Steak Salad - well put together and really tasty steak! * Grilled Northwest Salmon - a good refreshing choice. * Chicken Sandwich - nothing special during happy hour. * Spicy Moroccan Meatballs - an interesting side. * Southern Fried Chicken Mac & Cheese - one of their most popular items. It's a good combo, but deadly for me. * Note: Their menu does seem to rotate, and I have seen some gluten friendly items. What I llisted is just a small portion. The food menu is endless, as is their drink menu. So many choices from draft beer to wine to crafty cocktails, to non-alcoholic refresher drinks. In short, Thirsty Lion is indeed a popular place to hangout at in Tanasbourne. You can do Sunday brunch here, enjoy their cheap happy hour menu, or simply chill at the bar to watch a game. Yelped for lunch in the area and found a few places that were hit or miss with mediocre ratings. This was 3.5 stars so we gambled and did get a lunch with good service in a cozy pub like atmosphere. Her Carnitas salad bowl was "interesting" and my fish and chips plate was extremely greasy as I had to use the cloth napkin to wipe the grease that was dripping off my fingers with every bite of fish. Was flavorful however, the menu prices are inflated already and to add a 3% service charge adds salt to an open wound! (bill with gratuity included was over $70!) There were (2) $8 a pint beers included and I must add there isn't a tap beer on the planet that I will pay that much for. We live on the expensive Oregon coast and we suffered sticker shock dining here. The next time we are in the area, definitely won't include a stop here. If you want a good lunch without breaking the bank, this is not the place! read more

The calamari was fried crispy and was seasoned well. The restaurant was not dirty and it was really clean in the bathroom. Cons: The sandwich was okay. It wasnt bad it just wasnt cohesive! I come to the area for work every few months and stay for two weeks. I happen to stay a mile from here. So it was a no brainer to check it out my first time. Well, I come back and hit this place at least three times every time I'm here. Great beer selection, good seating in and outside, super staff, and all of their dishes are good. They do a good burger. I will say I wish their fish fry came with a bit of rye bread, as I'm from Wisconsin and fish fry usually comes with rye bread or at least a little bun. But I realize this ain't Wisconsin. read more

There is plenty of seating inside consisting of booths and tables. There is also outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The atmosphere inside is comfortable and relaxed. Service has always been prompt and pleasant on every visit here. Today, my friend and I were here to enjoy brunch. My Aperol Spritz was very good. My friend enjoyed his huge Breakfast Burrito, but my Spinach & Feta Omelette arrived lukewarm and blah. The shredded raw spinach would have been much better sautéed. There were rotten potatoes on my plate that looked nasty. The food is usually decent but could be improved upon. Thirsty Lion is located in the Streets of Tanasbourne Center.
