I have never been disappointed with this restaurant! It's one of my regulars even those slightly expensive I feel it's worth the money since everything on the menu is so good. The salmon and chicken marsala is great and for vegetarians ravioli with pesto is amazing too. The cheesy garlic bread is a great appetizer and the onion rings are amazing too! Had our new years eve dinner here. Party of 6. The asmospher was nice. You walk past the kitchen and see everything which is cool. The manager had called to confirm our reservation and check in w us. The waiter was great. He was around when he was needed and checked in without disturbing the table to much. The kiddo was not a fan of his burger. He actually didn't eat half of it. We have always loved Stanfords. Great food and service and ambiance. We just left this location which we had only dined at once without eating. We sat 20 minutes and a couple times asked who our waiter was. He showed up finally after serving 3 tables that came in after us to take our drink order. The drinks never showed so we left. Normally a good experience when I have visited in past years- we were there this weekend and the fryers were down . We definitely were late but still before closing. Dining felt rushed and the entries just okay. The halibut was very flavorful but the mash potato's were clumpy and lumpy. The wait staff was perfunctory not personal . Also drinks really expensive- lemonade $5.00 and adding a pescatarian protein to a salad is over $12.00 and it like 5 shrimp. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS, especially the one in LO, but since it went out I worried they had all gone out! But with my birthday coming up I quickly searched and found that this location was still running! And we had a lovely time. SECOND REVIEW: Chocolate shake - certainly not like they used to make it!! Asparagus was moderate (not wimpy or too crunchy but no major flavor). Solid 3/5 Chicken steps - YES! This is the old Stanfords, baby! Tasty, texture you'd expect, and good ol greasy. Pro tip: they were able to score me some cinnamon apples they repurposed from their dessert which scored bonus points! 4.75-5/5. This is what I came here for!! I wanted to come here for my birthday for nostalgic sake after having spent so many years here for my birthday parties (but in the now defunct LO location)! Overall the chicken (and cinnamon apples!!) made the experience worthwhile along with the ribs and cheese bread. Generally, however, the quality of the food has dipped significantly from where they used to be but if you're choosy you can still get the old Stanfords experience! Oswego Grill still makes for a worthy contender so stay on your toes, guys! In terms of our waiter he seemed to act (and look tbh) as though he was on drugs. We were also ignored in the beginning for a significant amount of time. We celebrated Valentine's Day at this place! This is actually my second time coming here and crème brûlée is my favorite! We got some meals for lunch and they are so good! I was impressed, first of all, with the dark wood paneling of the walls. The interior decor gives off cozy, vintage vibe I love. Next thing I was impressed with was the food. I got the Wild Alaskan Halibut with lemon chive sauce, which was moist and delicious. My sister got the 12 oz. Rock Salt Roasted Prime Rib. She ordered it medium-well, and while I prefer my steaks medium rare, the pieces she let me sample were tender and flavorful. Needless to say, our palates were extremely pleased with our choices. My daughter got the grilled Columbia River Salmon, which she said was dry and asked for ranch dip to moisten it a bit. It was good for her thereafter. Lol. Oh, and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts were, indeed, crispy and yummy! Dessert was the clincher. I got the crème brûlée, which (oh my gosh!) was heavenly: smooth, velvety, with generous flecks of vanilla bean caviar. That was probably THE best crème brûlée I've ever had. My sister got the Marionberry Cobbler à la mode, which was also a scrumptious treat. Our servers made us feel welcome and took care of us with warm smiles. Thought we'd try something different again today & it did not disappoint! This is my new favorite restaurant due to LOTS of menu options, amazing flavor & top notch service. I started with a side of Asparagus (could've ordered a 2nd serving, perfectly grilled to give a smoked flavor), my entree was Smoked Chicken Linguine, (I opted for no Chicken) it came with 2 large pieces of toasted garlic bread that was so soft. I had a cocktail, Ember. Vanilla Vodka, Digiorno, Simple Syrup, and a fresh large Dark Cherry My husband ordered Filet Mignon with Peppercorn Sauce (his favorite steak topping) & had both sides of Mashed potatoes. The portion sizes were substantial & neither of us could finish our meals. The both seating isn't very roomy, but I liked that you step up to sit in them. The individual light fixtures on the wall was a really nice touch too. The hostess was very friendly & our server Miruslaba Q. was phenomenal, we were never without a beverage & our order was 100% on point! Dinner for 9 and we made a reservation and had to wait a few minutes for our table (we did come early) and there was a waiting area for us. Some time after we ordered the lights in the restaurant dimmed for a different ambiance and vibe, think this happens daily. We ordered at 6:40 and it took 40mins for our entrees to arrive, while our drinks came out fast and our server was attentive. We didn't order appetizers. I got the Grilled Chicken Marsala and it had a good amount of asparagus and mashed potato. I wish there was a tad bit of sauce. The other entrees on my side were the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, Fish and Chips, Kruse burger with added side of onion rings, Spicy cowboy burger, and Cajun prawn linguine. The size of fish was small, though the filet mignon was very good. The linguine came with bread and the pasta had a definite kick. The burgers were filling and came loaded with the toppings listed. The cowboy burger came with a bbq sauce with bacon in it and thick jalepenos. The kruse burger came with a lot of lettuce and guacamole. All the entrees are good portions and lots of beverage, alcohol options. Prices for entrees start at ~20 and higher. For the price, some of our cups were scratched and seemed cracked as well as our cloth napkins having dust and pet hair. Definitely would return for a special occasion or happy hour! read more

Our favorite restaurant in Hillsboro. Great steak, chicken, pasta appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, soup, and desserts. We come here frequently and are very rarely disappointed. The lentil Soup on Mondays is a favorite, and the smoked salmon chowder on the weekends are both outstanding. The mac and cheese and smoked chicken linguine are sooo good too. Was able to get reservations for New Year's Eve. I no longer live in Hillsboro, so many years gone by since at Stanford's last- but treated my local area friend to a belated birthday meal. Love the interior decor & the superb service provided, but thought the amount of food given for the prices charged too little. I had the fish & chips, of which our server said was the best she had ever tasted, but I don't entirely agree. I actually enjoyed the coleslaw more than the fish & fries. My friend seemed to greatly enjoy her Mac & cheese with grilled chicken. We shared her creme brulee provided in celebration of her birthday having been a few days prior: she enjoyed it more than I, but then- I've lived in Vegas, where world class food reigns. I've visited 2 different Stanford's locations (Tanasbourne and Clackamas) and I have to say that the Tanasbourne one is the location that I prefer most. We've been to the Tanasbourne one a couple times now and we'll definitely be back. The ambiance and atmosphere is nice and chill. It's cozy as if it's one of those old steakhouses. The times we've gone, the place is always packed so I highly recommend placing a reservation online first. Pro Tip, they'll seat you if you arrive a little earlier than your reservation, which is pretty awesome. Service has always been great, especially at this location! Our servers are always friendly and so on top of things! If you can, avoid eating at the bar side. The service was slow when we decided to eat there once. This may have been because we went at an odd time and there was only one server available so service was extremely slow. That said, we've never experienced issues when sitting in their main dining area. My recommended dishes are as follows: * Caesar Salad. This is probably the best Caesar Salad I've had in a long time. It comes with fried capers which elevates the dish! * Calamari. I might be bias because I just love calamari (in general), but Stanford's calamari is to die for! * Filet Mignon w/ Mashed Potatoes & Seasonal Veggies. Can't go wrong with this one. I recommend enhancing the steak with sautéed mushrooms! Other good entree sides are the Mac & Cheese and their Crispy Rosemary Potatoes. * Fish & Chips. Pro Tip, the dish does not come with a side of Malt Vinegar but it is available upon request! The first time I tried it here, my wife and I preemptively smuggled our own bottle of Malt Vinegar (haha!) because it's not listed anywhere on the menu. Luckily, we didn't have to use our smuggled-in Malt Vinegar because when I asked our server if they had it in-house, they happily confirmed that they did! Oh, lastly, I recommend you sign up for the My Stanford's Rewards App. You get pretty cool rewards including points that you can use towards your bill! And finally, I can happily confirm that this place serves Coca-Cola products! My mom and I came here for the first time tonight as she is visiting from CA. I will definitely be back! Delicious meal - we got the 16 oz prime rib. It was lots of food - we split it. We ordered medium rare and it was perfectly cooked! The service was outstanding - Sean was great. He was funny and took great care of us! Can a vegetarian enjoy dining at a steakhouse? If it's Stanford's, the answer is YES! My roommate is not vegetarian and he has always commented on all the cars parked at Stanford's. So to appease him, I agreed to visit Stanford's. That was over a dozen visits ago. It is now one of our regular dining spots. Stanford's bills itself as a classic American steakhouse. But when you enter, there is no overpowering aroma of meat. The air inside is fresh and clean. The ambience is upscale and comfortable with booths and cushioned velvet chairs. There is also a fabulous outdoor patio overlooking a pond with fountains. It's very pleasant. The menu is extensive with all the usual steakhouse choices. But there is also a very good veggie burger, a Portobello cap burger and several yummy appetizers, salads and side dishes that keep this vegetarian coming back. The food is always tasty. My roommate loves their salmon chowder soup. Their Brussels sprouts appetizer and Caesar salad are two of my favorites. Stanford's has a terrific Happy Hour M-F from 3pm-6pm and 8pm to closing. Their $7 Bloody Mary is great. There is plenty of parking and buses 52 and 47 stop nearby. Service has mostly been pleasant and professional. Stanford's offers a loyalty program for regulars. Whether you're a big time carnivore or a vegetarian like me, you'll surely enjoy Stanford's. Highly recommend! read more

A couple times a year my wife and I'll will stop by this Stanford's for Happy Hour; not once have we been disappointed with quality of the food or drinks. I'm not a shill for Stanford's...honestly! What can I say when I'm eating a brussels sprout that makes me want to keep eating them...I hate brussels sprouts. These sprouts were flattened, grilled, covered with seasoning, a combination of melted cheese and some balsamic vinegar. I (probably) have the exact ingredients incorrect but, you get the idea. These things were delicious. We treat Happy Hour menus like visiting a tapas bar; each person orders a couple things and we share. Our servers have always been helpful, efficient and friendly. Our server was fantastic and was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. He was quick to bring out our fantastic drinks. I ordered a lavender cocktail and it was perfectly made. It had been quite a while since I had a meal here so I had to look over the menu because things have changed a bit. They have a decent happy hour as well and I believe that was the last time I had actually been in Stanford's and the time before was pre-Covid. Came across this spot late on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate our party without reservations. The Valentine's specialty cocktails (the strawberry jalapeño vodka especially) alone were worth the visit. In a nutshell, on a Sunday afternoon the manager at Stanford's Restaurant at Tanasbourne asked us to leave and never return solely because we asked not to have Terry as a server. The manager believed the lies of the hostess without even listening to our version of the interaction. He did the unthinkable by asking us to leave now and said "we are no longer welcome here". After posting my original YELP review I received a call from the General Manager (GM) to address this egregious customer interaction and cardinal sin of restaurant management. I invited her to check the video of the interaction since the manager said it was recorded. She called a number of days later and said that she and her assistant viewed the recording and were "flabbergasted". The recording proved the hostess lied to the manager and the manager believed her hook, line, and sinker. She said both employees were reprimanded. A friend, who is owner of a competing restaurant, said the two employees would have been terminated immediately in his establishment. Did the GM try to make any amends? No. Did we receive an apology from the offending manager? No. Were we made to feel welcome for a return? No. All the GM said was she trusted the involved manager who said he was sorry. The hostess, manager, and general manager all failed miserably. Are we coming back? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Are we telling other servers, restaurant owners, and friends about the horrific experience? The food was absolutely dreadful. Steak was drowning in mildly burnt oil, and even the Mac and Cheese sauce had too much oil and was almost like soup. The "crispy" Brussel sprouts were torched and inedible. It was extremely expensive given the quality. They were out of Prime Rib so we got the Ribeye instead. I don't understand how a steakhouse runs out of steak. But the steak was not a premium quality meat and we paid premium prices. The only thing that saved this review from being one star was our waiter, Christopher. I was really impressed with his hustle and making sure the little things were taken care of. This was our second trip to Stanford's but probably not our last. I really like the atmosphere, it feels more old world, cozy and upscale than most restaurants around here. The menu is decent but not fantastic for vegetarians, but for this visit the specials were excellent. They had a vegetarian pasta and a really nice salad. Service was very good and our food was tasty. I really enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli and I loved my starter salad with pears and pecans. Hubby tried the French dip sandwich this time and added their soup of the day and he was pleased. Good selection of beers on tap and their cocktails looked really good though we didn't try any. The steak here is also very good I tried the steak cooked to medium. Everybody at our table at our rated this restaurant 5 out of 5 stars. This place is also very well designed for ex. the chairs here are very good. Another very good thing is that the people here also keep the temperature at a perfect temperature. I was at Stanford's at Clackamas Town Center today. I had the Cajun prawn linguini. It was the best linguini I have EVER had. Had dinner here visiting family. Nothing to wow about with average food. Steak is a hit or miss. I ordered medium rare and it was raw. The rice was undercooked. Manager was nice enough to make a new steak but by then it was too late. They should inform the customers that refill on drinks are extra. I was charged $1.00 extra for an Arnold Palmer and my husband was charged double $4.00x2 for a flavored ice tea.. not much compared to the dinner but an unexpected charge I didn't expect left a negative impression. read more
