I have never in my life had worst service been at the Sand Bar. People here are miserable and don't want to be working here.

This review is actually on the sandbar, which is downstairs from the Thirsty Moose at Split Rock. This is absolutely the worst service I've ever had at a bar. The employees are miserable and don't want to be there. One of the bartenders, Mark, was ignoring me for so long and finally I spoke up and said when you're done with that drink, can you come back to me? He actually responded by saying "come back where?" And then proceeded to ignore me. Rude staff, not the kind of place you want to be at on vacation when you want to be surrounded by happy people.

These wings at Thirsty Moose Saloon are Excellent! They are huge and taste like my home made wings!

Good beer selection and the food is good too. We stop by to see the games. Bartenders are always very accommodating.

Very cozy meal at the Tavern with the kiddos. So many smiles during dinner, brought on by great…read moreservice and delicious food. We did a few apps to share: tempura shrimp with a pickled slaw, spring rolls and a cup of chili and French onion soup. The younger kids thought their menu had some great options and the rest of us were all over the map: grilled chicken salad, chilled soba noodles and a pub burger with sweet potato waffle fries. Their menu changes often to reflect the seasonality of ingredients, and I didn't snap a pic of their most recent menu, so food descriptions are generalized. We had a very relaxing time by the fire, and it was a perfect low-key evening to break up a busy holiday weekend.

My husband's drink of Black Russian was very good. We both got one of the specials. I got eggplant rolotini, which was good and plentiful with 4 pieces. I just wish the garlic bread that I got on the side would've been warm. My husband got the stuffed artichoke and while it looked great, and nice sized, it should have been cooked longer so it would've been softer. The service was good. Wait staff was very pleasant. The place was fine- the bar, where we sat, was kept clean and clear of dirty dishes (we had a disgusting issue with this twice a year ago and hadn't been back bc of this). As it was Friday night, a musician was just coming in as we left. That's always a nice touch there. I think we'll go again.

The staff was very nice and seated us promptly, we were sat at a table that was booth on one side and chair on the other but it was an extra tall bar stool type table. Soon as I sat down the sun was right in my eyes. Yes only a small nuisance till the bar tender shut a blind (because the bar folks were effected) but there were so many empty table. Why sit us at this table ? There were plenty of other tables that would not have had this issue. Not sure why the hostess would not know not to use this table for this time of day. Other then that the place was very clean and a normal pub type atmosphere. Nothing super special though. We started off with an appetizer called the "Texas Twinkie" - okay. I read "twinkie" and think some form of cake/bread with a filling. What we got was more of an egg roll. The outside was either a wonton type wrap or a tortilla then filled with brisket, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, jalapeño, and BBQ sauce. This was very delicious but definitely misleading in the name and the menu didnt really describe the item, it only give the name and listed the ingredients. I bring this up because we also ordered the traditional pizza.... what we got was more of a flatbread and pretty bland as well. Super basic bread with a lack of flavor marinara sauce and cheese. Also the sauce to cheese ratio was sad. You can tell this because all the cheese on the slice would come right off with 1 bite. We would not order this again based on the price and what was served. I also had the French onion soup. This was pretty well done. Not to salty, no crazy cheeses added. It was well balanced and was worth getting. My partners entree was the barley creek whiskey BBQ sauce on chicken tenders. These were just ok. The sauce seemed more tomatoe based then normal for a BBQ sauce and again just wasn't what one would expect from the name whiskey Bbq sauce. I am sure people do like this place but it wasn't very impressive to us. 3 out 5 stars is a fair rating as service was good for the most part, the place was clean with a decent amount of menu options, but the execution of the food lacked and the menu names are definitely misleading for the items we had ordered.

The restaurant was staged beautifully and decorated for a between-the-holidays meal, and even though it was packed there was only a low undertone of voices from the surrounding tables. Our waiter was fantastic and gave honest, informed suggestions that showed great menu knowledge. The cocktails were creative, well-balanced and refreshing; we tried the pomegranate cosmo, winter maple old fashioned, mistletoe mule, holiday margarita, and butterscotch espresso martini. The whipped ricotta and poached pear crostini really stood out and was an incredible way to begin the meal, but don't sleep on the bacon wrapped scallops. I could have eaten a bowl of that sweet corn puree and even though it's a party favorite, the smokey/sweet bacon/scallop combo was even more crisp/tender than most their kind. For entrees, we rattled off some Chilean sea bass (w/ citrus beurre Blanc), linguine and clams, and spicy chicken pappardelle, finishing with a few lunges at their Classic House Made, original 1989 recipe, Peanut Butter Pie. Normally my fiance and I split our entrees; unfortunately, I couldn't come up from the Sea Bass long enough to even offer her a bite. It was really a wonderful sauce, and a perfect amount to swirl around in the risotto. I was able to score the remainder of the clam linguine as leftovers, and even heated up in the microwave two days later it still qualified as a top three clam linguine dish I've ever had; buttery, lemony, garlicky goodness.
