This local fixture is a perfect way to unwind at the end of the day. Attentive and friendly service, a reasonably priced menu and delicious food with an outdoor patio to enjoy the weather. The problem with this place is everyone wants to be here! I love to stop by thirsty turtle on our way home from the beach to grab a drink and some food but everyone else wants to do that too. We just tried to go last Friday and there was over an hour wait! With that being said, it's to be expected that the food here is delicious My favorites include: the nachos, the spinach dip, the chicken stingers, fried shrimp, and of course the wings and fries! Even if I don't get wings I always order a side of hot sauce and bleu cheese to dip my fries in because omg it's THAT good. The shrimp are also really good dipped in the wing sauce. This WAS one of my favorite restaurants..... until yesterday. Came in late afternoon 3:30 pm and wanted to sit at the bar . The female bartender was extremely patronizing and basically said, " this is my bar ." Since when is a bartender a bar owner? She was very patronizing when I asked nicely if I could possibly switch one of the 30+ TVs to my game. She called me " Sweetheart " at least 5 times while insinuating that women are not welcome at " my bar." She kept talking about " her guys." No one calls me " Sweetheart " unless I ask them to. Having ones kitchen ripped apart is a bonus for local restaurants. They get me and my dining partner...lucky them. We stopped in the turtle 5ish, just ahead of the crowd, seated immediately in the dining area. Our first choice is usually the bar area, hi tops or bar. The hi tops were full and we find this bar a bit awkward to sit at, not comfortable. I do like the tye dyed bartender, efficient and attentive. So it's a table tonight. The wait staff were lovely ladies, ours was great, not pushy, well timed visits, the whole package. We started with stuffed mushrooms, oh my, hot, buttery, and tasty crab. I went with the orange blossom lager, a real fav. We enjoyed the app and checked the nicely diverse menu. Fish tacos, quesadillos were the call. Well portioned plates, stuffed quesadillos, and 3 nice, slightly spiced fish tacos. To go boxes were required. Anyone else like sour cream and jalapeños? Nice sports bar/restaurant option near the beach. Their takeout is super fast, and so is delivery through UberEats. Their wings are super popular. I personally don't like the effort it takes to eat bone in wings, so I'll get the stingers. They're basically chicken fingers tossed in sauce. Still good. I never claimed to be a wing guy. I love the mozzarella sticks. Nothing special to them, just what you'd expect. I really like the grilled fish tacos, it's a huge portion size. 3 giant tacos. A few blocks off the beach but this is my favorite when it comes to a great afternoon, getting out of the sun, grabbing a few beers and relaxing spot. The food is VERY good. Much better than you would even expect. The wings have the reputation of being some of the best around - and that is a well earned reputation as they are some of my favorites. Lunch date with my man during work hours led us to the Turtle. It's a bar atmosphere and old florida charm. There is outside seating but it was hot so we chose inside. It was clean and the staff was attentive and friendly. We had the Mexican salad which was large with full size bacon pieces in it, tossed in Italian dressing with ranch around the top. The chicken was a tad dry but the sale was good. I had firecracker shrimp tacos with a side of fresh guacamole. I have to say I was surprised at how delicious it was, most bars don't have good food. This is my first time at the Thirsty Turtle have seen it for many many years but never had a chance to go by. A friend of mine said you have to try their chicken wings. Considering myself the leading expert in chicken wings in the world I had to go there. I have been known since I had my website Northeast foods.com to be able to rape chicken wings all around the world and I have to say that these are very very good. They're fresh not frozen usually cooked very very well and the sauce is delicious. Went for drinks after having dinner somewhere else, but sure wish we had not already had dinner after watching all of the food coming out of the kitchen. Watching the kitchen and how the cooks kept the food coming out and how the 2 guys checked every plate before it went to a table was impressive! I had to order boneless wings because they looked so good, they did not disappoint. They were the best I've ever had. For a bar, the presentation was great.
