    French toast- short stack
    Kate M.

Came in with a girlfriend for brunch on Sunday around 10:30, seated immediately. Server was lovely. Coffee was great. Bloody Mary was average. Girlfriend got the French toast which was good but very sweet. I got eggs Benedict which did not have enough hollandaise but server was happy to bring more over. Eggs poached and cooked well. Hashbrowns nice and crispy. Restaurant was quiet and good atmosphere. Would come back again.

THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE METRO AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE. I DON'T say this lightly!!! They are "Midwest farm fresh food" but not too stuffy. The place is great for date night or a random Tuesday cocktail on the patio. The best bite I have ever eaten in MN was their Brussel sprouts appetizer that came with an amazing (amazing, I'm still thinking about it a week later) cheese sauce, sourdough bread and bacon bits. We had a few salads too and they were amazing. Raspberry ranch, who knew??? The desserts and drinks were elaborate. The staff was refreshingly passionate about what they were serving. The best part? The prices were absolutely reasonable, something for any budget. We spent 3 hours here just eating more and having a great time (who does that???) I will say this one more time, GET TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!

Pork sandwich and IPA. Really good.

My wife and I dropped our car off for service at the Honda dealership and took the half mile walk to downtown Hopkins to Thirty Bales. This place has been on my list for years, but to be honest, the lunch menu has everything I want, but they only serve brunch on the weekends. We decided to try it while they changed the oil. I ordered an IPA to start from our super awesome bartender on our bar stools. Then I saw it! The pulled pork sandwich was on the brunch menu! With an option for a salad on the side! SCORE! I thought I ordered blue cheese dressing, but when the wonderful salad came out, they gave me a small dish of blue cheese crumbles, which they charged me $2.50 for. Weird. Oh well, they were a nice addition to the fresh salad. I ordered a second IPA to go with my pork sandwich, which had a perfectly toasted bun and piled high with juicy pig. Crispy strings and pickles and sauce were nice accouterments. Great beer selection too and the service was top notch!

    Chicken Tinga breakfast tacos

Great ambiance and service! Our server was very friendly and nice. My tried and true order is the biscuits and gravy. They have a more southern or Spanish take on their menu. The biscuits and gravy has a really yummy chorizo gravy with the perfect kick of flavor. I also tried the chicken tinga tacos, and I did not care for these. I had such high hopes, but the flavor wasn't it for me, and the tortilla was a homemade, soft, thicker corn tortilla that just kind of fell apart. as a group, we split the devilish eggs, and maybe the batch we got wasn't great. The egg, since it's deep fried, was super rubbery and dry. However, I will always come back for those biscuits and gravy!

Classic eggs Benedict (wish they used Canadian bacon instead of deli ham)

Every time I come here, sadly, it gets worse and worse.. the service was good but slow, but the food was not good. I tried the brunch poutine and it was such an odd mix of flavors.. the shrimp ceviche (which didn't have any shrimp in it) doesn't really mix well with either chorizo gravy or chicken tinga.. the cheese was crusted on the fries and there wasn't any pull to it. Good potential but just not a good dish.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and a couple beers. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly, attentive and had a good selection of draft beers to choose from. We started with the Devilish Eggs, a basket of fries and a couple beers - you can't go wrong with Castle Danger Cream Ale on tap. The eggs were battered and deep fried, with bacon, chives, paprika, and a little kick of spice. Out of everything, they were the best thing we had. After another round, we ordered a cheeseburger and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo didn't come with rice, which isn't what I expected, but it was good. The burger was juicy but wasn't seasoned much. Salt and pepper helped but I don't think I would order it again. Overall a solid meal in a friendly atmosphere.

    Walleye sandwich

Loved our server. Fries were hot and plentiful. Hubby liked walleye sandwich but wished he had asked for more sauce. Sandwich was large but bun was way to thick. We'll ask for a different bun next time. I had the Chicken Caesar sandwich. Bun was soft and delicious. Chicken, etc was good, but I only ate half. Ate the other half today and realized that THIS half had more bacon and more sauce. I wish I had eaten that half the first night because I thought it needed more sauce and bacon. Nice, but somewhat sterile restaurant. Only small TVs high up in bar, so it's not a sports bar. Ate inside because patio is right on the busy street.

Delicious. Fantastic staff. Warm, friendly, 'sota atmosphere. I came here before the Richie Furay concert at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Had yummy deep fried deviled eggs and a blueberry ginger fizz. Wonderful!

Stopped by for a late lunch on a Friday. Cute place in the heart of downtown Hopkins. Open and bright setting. Parking garage nearby so easy to get to. We were seated right away and had water brought out. The server came over to ask for drinks. I asked what would be a unique beer to get since they seemed to have a decent beer menu. Her response "Mich Golden Light" which I found a little weird considering there were a bunch of local beers on the menu. Ended up ordering a sour which was very tasty. Ordered the devilish eggs minus the bacon for appetizer. I got the short rib pot pie and the wife got the burger for our entrees. The devilish eggs were interesting in that they were deep fried. This made them warm on the outside and cold on the inside. They were tasty but kind of threw you off with the difference in temperature. The pot pie was more of a deconstructed pot pie. Interesting idea, came out hot, had a crusty top with plenty of beef and vegetables. Unfortunately, it was very bland and lacked seasoning. Adding some salt and pepper helped, but the flavor was definitely lacking in the dish. While the top was nice and flaky, the bottom was soaked and soggy and not my favorite. Overall I would pass on this dish. While the idea was unique, the execution was definitely lacking. The fries with the burger were good. Crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. The burger was cooked to the requested temperature but again lacked seasoning and flavor. So overall not recommending the burger. So while the service was decent and the restaurant was a good clean environment, the food unfortunately was disappointing. I would maybe try the brunch since it has gotten some good reviews but will not be rushing back here.

    Short rib pot pie

We visited Thirty Bales recently and enjoyed our experience. I made reservations and we were seated immediately. We parked in the ramp right across the street which was close and provided easy accessibility. I opted for the short rib pot pie and it was the perfect cold weather meal. Comfort food at its hot, cozy best. I ate the whole bowl of short ribs, veggies, and a lovely crisp topping. Staff was wonderful, prompt and never pushy. Our booth seat provided a great atmosphere for conversation. Super experience.

Food came out quick and was pretty good. I ordered the 819 Old Fashioned burger and the apple glazed Brussel sprouts along with a beer. The 819 Old Fashioned Burgee has historically been one of my favorite burgers of my area. It has apricot jam, Brie, bacon and caramelized bourbon cherries. It was pretty solid, but I noticed halfway through it was missing the cherries, a key piece to the puzzle. Still, the burger was pretty solid. The apple glazed Brussel Sprouts were good, I wasn't sure about them at first to be honest. I had a feeling the sauce and Brussels weren't the right fit, but they quickly grew on me and I came to really enjoy them. I did however feel as though the Brussels sprouts were a little under cooked and were still a bit hard on the inside, still delicious. Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner at the bar, made even better with NCAA basketball playing on all the TVs.

Every time we eat out I suggest a craft and crew spot. I bought gift cards. I ordered catering from Duke on 7 last week. Today I went to Pub 819 with my 4 lb chihuahua...and suddenly I was treated like a problem customer. Because of my dog, when I've checked in at the front, they sent me around the outside to the back. So I've been adamantly respectful of that. When I told my family I was at Pub 819 and they should order Friday dinner to go from there, they trusted me. When my brother in law pulled in at the back of the restaurant in the rain, I stepped in to bring them their food from the front. The manager of Pub 819 came running along the route to the back entrance and took my fresh drink out of my hands. I told him I was following their orders to walk along the outside of the building to the back so I didn't walk through the restaurant with a dog. He said "we were cutting you off anyway." Ummm...what? That was never even an issue. Very random. I wanted to bring business to a local operation. So much for good intentions. I was humiliated. He took my drink out of my hands as I was trying to bring my family their food. I wasn't going to argue with him so I just left. It was an awful experience that completely soured my view of the Craft and Crew family. I tried to support local, but I ended up embarrassed in the alleyway looking silly.

Bartenders appeared disengaged and exhausted, and the lack of professionalism was obvious. A busy earlier rush is not an excuse for subpar service afterward. The food quality has also taken a serious hit. Everything was dry and poorly prepared, to the point that it raises legitimate concerns about management oversight or changes in food sourcing. This was not the quality we've experienced in the past. The most unacceptable moment occurred when another patron misplaced his chair while getting pull tabs, and a bartender asked my husband and me if we took it. That was an inappropriate and uncomfortable accusation that should never happen to paying customers. Between declining food quality, unprofessional service, and mishandled customer interactions, this establishment is no longer meeting even basic expectations. We're taking it out of our rotation. Until major changes are made, I would not recommend this place and would strongly advise others to spend their time and money elsewhere

That said, the taproom felt a little darker than I expected, and most of the seating is wooden with no padding on either the seat or backrest. It fits the brewery aesthetic, but after a while it was not the most comfortable place to linger. The beer selection is impressive with plenty of options to choose from. I tried one of their IPAs and really enjoyed it. It was well-balanced, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for from a local brewery. Service was another highlight. Our server was friendly, attentive, and did a great job checking in without being intrusive. Good service can make a big difference in a brewery setting, and it definitely elevated the experience here. Overall, LTD Brewing offers a great selection of beer, plenty of space, and excellent service. The only thing holding it back from a higher rating for me was the somewhat dark atmosphere and the less-than-comfortable seating.
