I've been to the Soho location twice now. They're busy but moves pretty quickly. The Sunday lunch crowd is definitely bigger than the Saturday crowd. The staff is friendly and efficient. I've had both the OG with salmon sashimi and the spicy salmon. I like to go with the sushi rice and shredded cabbage base. The sushi rice alone can be a bit too filling. Whichever bowl I get, I always add the chili jam. But always check because they forgot it for me before. Healthy and delicious, I love This Bowl.

    Spicy Salmon bowl

Just another slop bowl place right? Wrong! Well that's what I thought about This Bowl for the longest time. I live in the area and was put off by the long lines and continued on my Canva, Cava, Chipotle slop bowl adventures per usual till I on a whim, decided to try this bowl one evening and I'm glad I did! Now I've stuck with the spicy salmon bowl the few times I've been. Why fix what's not broken right? And I've been met with consistent freshness, delicious flavors and just the right amount of crunchiness and tangibles, that spicy jam thing has a nice kick and keeps bringing me back. So good!

Unfortunately, I do not understand the hype about this place. My overpriced salmon bowl was lacking in flavor and creativity. The store wasn't even that busy, but I don't think they had a good system down in terms of people picking up their order because they gave me the wrong order which I only noticed once I realized some of my customizations were missing. The staff was very nice and attentive and immediately fixed my order, but The portion of salmon on my first order was double the portion on the order that I received when it was corrected. So I don't know if the wrong order I got simply had a double portion. I was very disappointed when I got my small skimpy piece of salmon. The ambience of the place was lovely. I did have to wait a bit to actually get a seat to eat at Butt because I was waiting for my corrected order. I ended up getting a seat. I won't be coming back to This Bowl nor recommend recommending it. There are much better bowl lunch style places in New York.

SERVICE - located in NoHo near Washington Square park - line can get long during lunch rush but moves quickly - servers are very friendly and helpful with deciding what ingredients to pair together - ambiance good for a casual meal or takeout - bowls made fresh to order and served relatively quickly MENU - build your own salad bowl - vegan/vegetarian options available - gluten free - average price ($16 per bowl) FOOD - roasted tofu bowl (8/10): mixed greens and brown rice base, beetroot, sweet potato, edamame, broccoli, and carrot, miso vinaigrette and carrot ginger sauces, umami nut crunch, and chili jam. This combination was the perfect mix of cooked and raw ingredients so that the bowl was filling but not cold. There was also a mix of textures from the soft sweet potatoes to the crunchy nuts and the fresh leaves. I liked the mix of the sweet carrot with the umami miso dressings. The chili jam was an additional cost but highly recommend if you like harissa or similar taste profiles. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! It is a great lunch option that is fast and healthy.

I've seen This Bowl pop up all over Instagram. Great salad chain from Oz. Finally managed to check it out and it surpassed expectations. Probably one of the best salad places! Generous portions. Great flavor combinations. Their chili crunch is killer. Added plus that they have seating inside so a good place to grab a salad post workout or even alone. Would definitely come back!

    Two OG bowls with crudo.

Please note: this is not a poke bowl place. Do not come here for poke. However, it is a bowl place. It is also very hyped up because of the fun ambiance. It has high ceilings, lots of young people love it for some reason and they play very loud music inside. It's has a club/bar feel to it. My sister wanted a poke bowl so went here thinking that's what it was. They mostly serve cooked food over rice with lots of crispy toppings. If you're looking for texture, this is the bowl! There is lots of crispy in this bowl. It's giving savory cereal vibes over rice. I got the OG bowl with the raw salmon crudo. They could give a bit more fish. I finished the fish but left a lot of rice and greens. It's not very balance with portions. But it's an experience for your taste buds. Overall, I would suggest coming here for the vibes and to fill up on food. Service was good. People are nice and friendly. It is an order at the counter type of place so don't expect a table if it's busy.

    careful! sticker!
    Rebecca P.

Pretty good. Bowls are definitely filling and for the most part I've liked what I've ordered. Staff is really nice. This past time I did find a sticker in my bowl though so be wary for that. (at least it shows that their food is not expired!! bc it was a 4/25 date) Kinda pricey but the fact that I stayed full for most of the day justifies that.

    OG with salmon sashimi
    Liz B.

Let me start by saying this bowl (pun intended) wowed me. I got the OG with salmon sashimi and swapped out the beets since they were raw with spicy broccoli. I took it to go so I got the dressing on the side which was a good move since I didn't feel the need to use it all. All the flavors in it blended so nicely together and it was a delicious meal from start to finish. The couple of issues I had were that even though there were only 2 people in front of me when I went, it somehow took 10 minutes to get to me? And when I wanted the wasabi mayo on the side (so I could control how much to add), it was $1 extra? A very pricey but delicious bowl. I wish it wasn't so high priced but definitely a tasty treat

cucumber thai basil, OG, OG with braised beef, miso salmon
    Irene C.

The OG bowl is so good and pretty filling. I ordered mine with chicken, and as delicious as it was it felt like they added way more onions than chicken so the ratios of the toppings were kinda off. The cucumber thai basil drink wasn't great - not as refreshing as I thought it would be and just lots of basil flavoring. Their bowl combinations with the dressings are nicely put together though and overall I would definitely recommend.

The O.G with salmon sashimi + chili jam
    Azen N.

Best bowl i've ever had in my life hands down. I got the O.G with salmon sashimi & added chili jam and it was chef's kiss. Bowl is on the pricier end (~$20 w tax and tip), but the portion is huge and so delicious so it's worth it

    OG bowl
    Tracy T.

Pleasantly surprised! This place lived up to the hype. I ordered the OG bowl, had very fresh ingredients and the sauce/dressing was delicious. In comparison to the other bowl places at this price point, this one was noticeably better. They make the food relatively quickly. There's a bit of seating available but not too much so it does get a bit cramped.

    OG with salmon
    Gab G.

Australian import bowl place that is immediately better than any of the other bowl places in NYC. It's known as Fish Bowl in aus but they had to change the name here because of that horrible bar at the Dream Midtown. Anyway, I'm obsessed with it. Came at noon on a weekday and there was a line but it moved quickly. I loved the Miso salmon bowl with brown rice, and my friend had the OG with salmon (also great). Vibe is super annoying/influencer-y but that's to be expected in this area. Just wish they delivered! They're also opening a Flatiron location so I'll have to check that one out too.

After running a couple of errands while waiting for the table to be ready, we were seated outside at the patio after an hour and 45 minutes. We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. The ambience is diner style. Hence the reason for their name, and I understand why they don't allow any pulley's or luggage because the area is tight so keep that in mind. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense
