    Burger
    Lindsay C.

Came here as a part of the RI Food Fights burger competition. The burger was standard, but nothing to write home about. It was cooked well, and the bun was enjoyable. The fries were decent and the serving size was good. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly. Food came fast. Their pizza menu seemed to have some interesting and unique options, so I'm glad to learn that this place existed! Just not going to become my go-to burger spot.

First time at The 79 Pub/This Guy's Pizza. I came because I had the Lord of the Wings passes for the month of January. Really impressed by the menu a lot of types of pizza, a lot of really unique options. They have two beers that are specifically brewed for the restaurant one from the Dublin Brothers and the other from goose Island in Chicago. I tried both and it really enjoyed each beer, they were everything in IPA and a pills that should be. I didn't have the pizza, which I know is crazy, but I ordered the creamy pasta wings in the spinach pie tacos because that sounds absolutely unhinged and it sure was in the best way. The wings were really good. And I am really picky on wings. They were hot, crispy, and super flavorful. I will definitely be back for the chicken wings specifically. My other favorite thing besides the wings was the off the menu PB&J margarita. The service was also excellent. Super attentive waitress and friendly bartender. The establishment is fairly large with a big bar. There are arcade games in the back. Everything was clean and they have a parking lot. I really enjoyed my visit to the 78 Pub/This Guy's Pizza and I'm excited to come back to try more menu items.

Steak sandwich with mushrooms & onions

Return visit to This Guy's Pizza & it did not disappoint! We ordered an extra-large half & half pizza - The Rayven on one side (minus the drizzle) & Meat Loaded on the other. Both were delicious! Perfectly cooked crust, generous toppings & great flavor across the board. Every slice was hot & fresh - exactly what you want from a great neighborhood pizza spot! We also ordered the steak sandwich with mushrooms & onions. The steak was tender, the mushrooms & onions were cooked just right, melty cheese held everything together. The atmosphere really added to the experience. There was a soccer game on the TVs, with a fun, energetic group of fans on the other side of the restaurant that made it feel lively & welcoming without being overwhelming. There is also a game room in the back, which is a great touch & makes this place feel like more than just a quick pizza stop. It is somewhere you can hang out & enjoy yourself! Great food, good value & a place we will continue to support!

Walked up to the large pub space and was immediately struck by how loud it was. Like you could her the music outside loud. It turned out to be Karaoke night and the volume of the music went down when people were singing. Service was friendly and our drink orders were filled quickly. We both ordered chicken sandwiches, and they were good, but nothing to make a special trip for. The pizza menu is very extendive with lots of topping choices so I'd like to go back to try it.

Was dying for a quick eggplant sandwich so we decided to try somewhere new to us at least! Well the eggplant was simple like I asked with light sauce, but my husband got a real treat! Chicken parm mouthful is what he ordered and it's chicken parm wrapped in mozzarella sticks with cheese then wrapped in a tortilla perfectly grilled with big side of fries and their great red dipping sauce :) ahhhmmmazing is an understatement he said . Great owner ~ bartender and waitresses are all so welcoming to everyone. We always sit at the bar. It also has a fun big room with picnic family style tables surrounded with arcade tables so bring the kids too! Great neighborhood Bar grill & arcade! Will definetly be going back soon . Fast friendly service too & good prices.

The big easy chicken sandwich from the passports

It was very quiet in here today, but the server, the waitress parked in their hostess combination. She was very friendly, kind, explained all the specials, etc. showed us, especially when they had just for the sandwich. Passport was able to order a sandwich separately so that we could share it and also gave us extra plates, etc. the food was really good. The chicken was juicy, but it wasn't hot and I like the crunchiness of it and the light battle was like a temp force was a very lightweight batter, which was good. I hate thick batters. other than that, things were wonderful. The rest was very clean organized put together very busy with takeout orders and I think catering. We will come back at another time. The server just came back we had thought french fries came with the sandwich, but on the passport it does not. It's a little bit extra. We didn't count for that today however she's come back. She's surprising us with their own homemade french fries they made in an air fryer. We're gonna have some and then we'll take the rest to go. This has been a fun day and experience with my friend so we will be leaving in just a minute and heading back home.

The wings were flavorful. The service was accurate however delivery took a long time. It's a family friendly restaurant. Lots of seating and parking.

29 Jan 2025 update It's truly a gem for eating in. What a great menu with a wide range of selection for lunch, including their great pizza options. The service is so personable and friendly. Strongly suggested for the freshest food and service. Even live music on Fridays and Saturday nights!

    The Frenchman Grinder

The Frenchman grinder! Sooo good! Would definitely get this again! Put the sauce on the side but the sauce is so good!

We enjoyed our visit with kids. The small, separate game room was a nice space for them to escape to and an added element for our time out. There was a good variety of options for food, including many kids meals that were priced great. We tried the Level Up and PB&J Burgers, the tacos and a few kids burgers & kids pizzas. We can't wait to try the pizza!

True Score: 3.5 Stars A pizzeria with a bar and several TV's to watch a game. Weirdly it closes pretty early, so we would never choose this spot if there was a night game and we wanted to hang out later than 9pm. Decent menu with a decent selection besides pizza. We had wings, not bad, could have been cooked more. We got a pizza, it was cooked well done as we asked. It is Greek style pizza, not Italian. We did not have a sandwich but other patrons did, they looked good. The draft beer is cold and prices are affordable. The guys working here are very polite and the establishment is very clean. Not bad besides the early close times. Thanks

Medium pepperoni pizza for $14. 2 slices missing.
    Nick C.

Just okay pizza. It's a little on the greasy side and a bit doughy. I got a medium pepperoni pizza for $14 which is a very good price. The sauce lacked flavor but the pepperoni made up. Very reasonable prices for the pizza and other menu items. Might be the cheapest pizza in the state that isn't total crap.

    X-Large cheese pizza
    Kelly F.

Decent square pizza. I got an X-Large cheese. Sauce and cheese ratio was good. Edges a little carmelized. Probably better is you dine in. By the time we got home the cheese had hardened a little. We also got chicken tenders. I asked that they make them buffalo style and toss with mild sauce but they didn't. I didn't realize until I got home but it was fine. They were good anyway and they did include buffalo sauce and blue cheese on side. The dough boy crisps were decent but I asked for cinnamon and powdered sugar and just got cinnamon sugar. Overall order wasn't exactly right but food was good and staff very nice.

It's over-the-counter ordering, with pizzas another option, and more importantly, you can also get beer to complement your wings. -- Buffalo Wings: From the first visit, some of the best I've had in a long, long time. Not the biggest (I'd say right around average size), but they nailed every aspect, from the piercing tartness of the sauce to match the spice, to the butteriness, to the crispness of every surface, to the tender and juicy interiors on every piece. If that weren't enough, the blue cheese tipping sauce was also spectacular, with noticeable sharpness and lots of chunks of real cheese to go along with the creamy liquid. They matched the buffalo sauce nicely. -- Loganberry Wings: From the second visit, a Buffalo regional sauce mixing raspberry flavors with barbecue sauce. The result is a mix of sweet and savory in a rich, full-bodied sauce with plenty of oomph and plenty of cling. It's sweet for sure, but its barbecue sauce component cuts it and a dip into some ranch cuts it more while adding a little something. I loved the sauce. The wings, though, were a little bit smaller and a little bit dryer this time. Still very good. -- 716 Mulberry Chicken Fingers: Also from the second visit. Nothing like Chinese chicken fingers; more like a chicken tender, and more still like a chicken cutlet. Three flat pieces in the small order provided minimal thickness, but a decent amount of meat, spread out. The Mulberry sauce has a Buffalo base with some additional secret seasonings and other ingredients to change the flavor a bit. Not bad, but I think I'd go straight Buffalo next time. Tender inside, but no crispness outside. This includes fries, which were a very solid McDonald's facsimile. Notable: Easy parking in their own lot. A minimum 25-minute wait for wings, so plan accordingly. Friendly, helpful counter people. So two visits, one great, one very good. Some memorable sauces and some memorable presentations. I'll be back to see if they hit great again and get bumped to a 5.

A fried chicken sandwich with different toppings options, chicken fingers, and wings. No grilled chicken options, fried chicken on a salad (that's not a salad), and just as many burger options as chicken. Fried chicken boneless wings, which are the same as half cut chicken tenders and fried chicken sliders (which is basically a small fried chicken sandwich). As for the fried chicken sandwiches we ordered, 6 out of 10. A bit greasy and the a bun that's a bit too bready. Removed half the bun to eat. We also had wings, they were pretty good. Fried right, good sauce. Bright spot here was the service, server and bartender were very friendly and attentive. It was Friday night at 6:30 and it was slow. I think the issue here is that if you don't want a fried chicken sandwich or a burger you're gonna go elsewhere. Really need to evaluate the menu. Local business and I hope it does well, but there are things to fix here. Try it and formulate your own opinion. Thanks

Tomaselli's took over an old catering hall, and I was concerned before I came that I would be one person at a giant table. But then I saw a picture of the bar surrounded with leather padded deal chairs and I knew I needed to sit at that bar asap. The building is set back from the road and the parking lot is of a decent size, if a bit tight at some of the turns. Walking in, you definitely get the sense it's a hall but if you're solo just head left and the bar is right there waiting for you The bartender was a friendly guy, I never got his name. He took great care of me, checked in regularly. They have an incredible list of wing sauces, and I chose the pepper relish parm wings, which felt so freaking Italian I couldn't pass it up. I also got a small cheese, pepperoni and black olive pizza. Finally, a sangria to sip while I dined. The wings....the wings were incredible. Definitely my winner for the month by miles. They will be hard to beat. It was super oily from the peppers, it was dripping down my chin, but it was so tangy and delicious I couldn't stop eating it until they were all gone. The wings themselves were very meaty and fried hard like I would get in New York state. I think someone in their kitchen is from somewhere upstate New York because I rarely get wings that well fried outside of that state! After I polished those off, the pizza came. It was piping hot, rectangular and cooked to a golden brown. I ignored the heat and went for a slice. Buttery and crisp crust, rich and thick sauce, extra stretchy cheese, the pie was a lesson in generosity. The pepperonis were crispy like I like and the black olives had a more pronounced flavor than you usually find as well. Top notch pizza all around. I couldn't wait to tell my friends about this place, I was texting them in the car about my great experience. Living on the other side of Providence I will definitely be back, for more wings (half priced on Wednesday) and to try some of their entrees. I hear the chicken parm is outstanding! Until next time, Tomaselli's. You've gained a new regular customer out of me!

Not a pilgrimage. Not a revelation. Just a really solid pie from a place that knows what it's doing and doesn't need to make a fuss about it. Pepperoni and black olive for me today. The crust had that chew you want, cooked through, some golden brown color on the bottom. The sauce was rich tomato with garlic running underneath the cheese, present enough to know it's there without fighting for attention. The olives were generous and distributed like someone thought about where they landed, not just dropped from a height. The pepperoni is cupped and charred slightly at the edges. The toppings-to-cheese ratio was right. It arrived fast and it arrived hot. This is what a revered neighborhood pizza place is supposed to be. Maria's does it. It's primarily takeout, four tables, busy foot traffic in and out the whole time I was there. They do good business and they know what their business is. I sat down anyway because I tend to be an iconoclast, and it was a fine visit. If you live nearby, you already know about this place. If you don't, that's between you and your neighborhood. (For the record, I am not a fan on New Haven style pizza, which seems to be popular in RI - this is not that. Nor is it New York style - which I do like BUT not over the style that Maria's serves.) I've eaten my way through quite a few things here over the years, and while there are plenty of good choices, I keep coming back to the Smokey and the Bandit smash burger. At this point, I probably know what I'm ordering before I even sit down. There's just something about that combination that keeps winning. The food here is consistently good. Everything I've had has been fresh, hot, and full of flavor, and the kitchen seems to have that part figured out without making a big production of it. The menu has enough variety that you can come in with different appetites and still find something you want, but it doesn't feel like one of those places with a menu the size of a small novel where you need twenty minutes just to decide what you're looking at. The beer selection is another reason I enjoy Chomp. There's enough variety to make choosing a beer part of the experience rather than simply grabbing whatever happens to be on tap. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is increasingly something I notice because restaurant prices have a funny way of creeping upward when you're not paying attention. The location is another part of the appeal. Chomp sits in a great little part of Providence where you can easily make an evening out of being in the neighborhood. There are plenty of other restaurants, shops, and places to wander around nearby, so it doesn't feel like you're making a special trip just to eat and then immediately getting back in the car. Tonight, though, I have to give a special shout-out to Bella, who was our server. She was outstanding. Friendly, personable, attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful. She suggested adding bacon to my Smokey and the Bandit, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I'm very glad she mentioned it because it was an excellent call. Sometimes the best recommendations are the simple ones, and she nailed it. One piece of advice if you're planning on coming here: make a reservation if you can. Chomp can fill up quickly, and given how good the food is, that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's the kind of restaurant where people come back because they already know they're going to have a good meal, and I'm certainly part of that group. Five stars from me. Great food, good beer, reasonable prices, a fantastic Providence location, and genuinely good service. I've tried enough of the menu over the years to know that Chomp has plenty of options, but apparently I'm still incapable of walking through the door without ordering that Smokey and the Bandit. Add Bella's bacon recommendation to the list of reasons I'm going to keep coming back.

We both ordered the Classic Smash Burger, one with cheese and one without. Unfortunately, both burgers were utterly tasteless, with virtually no seasoning detected at all. The brussel sprouts I ordered also lacked flavor and seasoning aside from the char, and his Cajun fries were so salty they were nearly inedible. After driving from Massachusetts to Rhode Island as a special Mother's Day treat, it ended up being a very disappointing experience, especially given the overwhelmingly positive reviews.
