If I could give less than 1 star I would. We have been taking our son there for 13 years, spent plenty of money with them. The Dr. we normally see left practice but in meantime billed us incorrectly for an eye exam to see if we needed a new prescription for contacts. They have tried to bill us, sent us to collections almost immediately for a bill that THEY miscoded. They won't admit to mistakes and would rather lose a customer than admit their mistake. Last conversation with billing they said they would call back after I spoke to management. Not a peep but bills in the mail since then. Cowards. There are plenty of options for eye doctors. Went to your Roswell location for a scheduled appointment, and I signed in. After 40 minutes I got up to see what happened to my supposed scheduled appointment. The staff was nice but had no clue as to what had happened. Since I had another appointment I left. I attempted to call and try to make a complaint but that took another 10 minutes. Was informed that my appointment was canceled and I should've received a text informing me so. However, they were wrong. I checked and the only text was confirming the appointment. The manager is incompetent and was no help. I went to the mall scheduled an appointment. I got there the day of the appointment and guess what? Yeah they saw me and gave me an eye exam. They're professionals! Well as you can see I don't think highly of your corporation. You lack any true connection to your clients because you only care about the bottom line, and not your patients. You give me a screw you attitude I give you one in return. So clueless to what's going on as most corporations are when it comes to their clients because they don't give a damn. I stormed out, yelled at the manager over the phone and still got a text for a review from the doctor. Which means my appointment must not have been canceled. Dr. Abril and her assistant were professional and very nice to my son. The wait time tho. Unacceptable and very disrespectful of our time. We waited 50 minutes before they called us back. I feel confident I can find an office that has great Doctors and also understands time management. I will search for that with any future appointments. read more

I love Dr. Newman but if you need to get in, schedule very early in the day, otherwise you'll be waiting an eternity. I also recommend going to Pearle down the street with your glasses prescription. Better savings and I buy my contacts from Sams Club. I don't recommend using their contact lens dept. my script had changed and when I tried to give an unopened box of my old ones (which I was told ahead of time, I could exchange, even though I bought them at Sams) they refused to exchange them for me. I said, what's the Difference? I give you one, you give me one. Even Steven. Same brand and all. They just wouldn't do it. So, I had to contact Sams and return them there which was a hassle. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I called to schedule an eye exam with an Ophthalmologist... They scheduled it with an Optometrist (Dr. Nohra). She rushed through the exam and was very pushy to get LASIK done. Her prescription was off by -1.25. I had to wait 2 hours on a confirmed appointment to get this piss poor service. I walked into a Walmart two weeks later and got an accurate prescription within 30 mins. To add insult to the injury, BCBS denied the claim because the service was not performed by an Ophthalmologist (Although I asked for one when I booked the appointment) . One month later, I receive a bill from Thomas Eye for $165. Glenda (works in accounting) could care less that the Insurance company denied the claim and I had to get the test retaken. THOMAS EYE - Get your act together. If this is your specialty, act like it. How can you keep an optometrist on staff who doesn't know what she's doing? Check her healthgrades score. Advice to prospective customers... If youre looking for regular eye exam.. just go to the Walmart on Mansell. Fast, Accurate Service at half the price. read more

What a three-ringed circus! I made an apt a while back. I was then called because they needed to change doctors and make a new apt for a month later. By mistake, (my goof up) I still went to the old apt. My apt was today 12/26. I called yesterday to make sure they had the referral and was told I didn't need one. I drove the 16 miles there, waited 20 minutes for someone to come out and tell me that they are not part of my network and I'd have to pay over $200 to see the Dr!! Obviously it would have made FAR too much sense to verify that before I drove there for nothing! read more

I have been considering leaving after every appointment. But this time I couldn't even make the appointment. For 6 years I have been taking my children for the check up same day and time. They now have a new policy that you can only make 2 appointments at one time. I needed 3. They informed me if I cancel it leaves a big gap in the doctors schedule. (I have never cancelled) They were going to email the dr and see if he/she would allow 3 appointments (my kids are all in school so I wanted to do it all in one day...instead of different appointments for 2 hours each). I told them not to bother emailing the dr. You are asking them if they are willing to charge my insurance company to pay for 3 appointments. I have made my appointments at another eye doctor and all 3 the same day!! read more

I paid about $`1800 dollars for a special lens implant for my cataract operation. The implant was to eliminate astigmatism in that eye. The doctor inserted the lens incorrectly so it did not work. I had vision correction but not for the astigmatism. Do not go to these people, if you value your eyesight. read more

Yesterday was my last appointment here - my patience is exhausted. The wait times are my main complaint. I waited yesterday for two solid hours, and did not even have my eyes dilated. (They finally are offering photos instead of dilation) The wait for preliminary exam wasn't that long, but the wait for the Dr was the main issue. Appointment times are really a joke here. They do not respect your time, they clearly take more appointments per hour than they can handle. Are they just geared toward people with no other place to be? Just before I was finally called back to see the doctor I was soooo close to just WALKING OUT. The staff is mostly ok, **except for the chick who just shrugged when I complained after two hours,** but I just dread spending half my day in a freezing waiting room. (And yes, usually it's filled with unruly kids as another reviewer mentioned.) Oh and did I mention how fun it is to check in at a kiosk instead of with a human? Just ugh!!!!!!!! I recommend you find a practice that's more like a professional medical facility and less like a bus station. read more

I will never go back!!! Rude staff!! My eyes are a very sensitive subject. With that being said, I am very particular with who I choose to see. I guess a pun is intended. I was told by the technician who performed my initial exam that I would love Dr. Newman. I beg to differ. This doctor had the most aggressive personality with no bedside manner. He did not listen to what I had to say nor did he answer any questions I had regarding the exam. He argued that I did not have astigmatism when in fact I've had it my entire life. Dr. Newman made me feel very uncomfortable. When I went to the contact lense department, Mildred was extremely rude and would not listen to my concerns as well. If you are paying out of your pocket, they will up charge you on your visit!! My son has been an established patient of Dr. Lipski , who is a very good doctor, for 4 years. We recently lost our insurance coverage and decided to pay out of pocket and inquired about the fee for an eye exam and we were told it would be $165. My wife took him in and came back home after his 15 minute appointment with a charge of $265. Too add insult to injury, we just received a bill for another $35!!! If you are paying out of pocket, go somewhere else! read more

I actually have three complaints: I was told that my appointment was for 8am. After 20 minutes, the assistant came back to get me, did the eye chart and then asked me to sit back down in the waiting room as there were no exam rooms later. It wasn't until 8:50 I asked when I was finally going to see the doc, as I had been waiting 50 minutes. I was told that my appt. had been for 8:10 (no, I was specifically told it was at 8am), so therefore, I'd only been waiting 40 minutes...as though that was acceptable (complaint #1). When I finally got to see Dr. Newman, I explained what was going on and how I was 99% sure that my continuous watery eye was due to a clogged tear duct, as this has happened to me before and that was the problem. He insisted that it wasn't, and preceded to give me eye drops and antibiotics and tell me how to wash my eyelids. Even when I said specifically that I wanted him to probe/irrigate my tear duct, (complaint #2) he wouldn't do it, as it was too invasive and could cause an infection (yet, he prescribed antibiotics...) Long story short, a week later and my eye was still streaming. I'd spent $75 on my copay, $75 on GENERIC eye drops that did nothing for me, and after calling his office to let them know it still was running, was told by the nurse that it sounded like I had to have my tear duct probed and irrigated! Seriously?! Bye, bye $150. I went to a doctor out of my network and she LISTENED to me, agreed that it was my tear duct and then probed and unclogged the tear duct (Dr. Ahmad at Walmart on Mansell - fabulous!) Now my eye is much better. Complaint #3, I called their office over two hours ago and asked to speak to the office administrator to let them know of my complaints. I was told that I had to leave a message and that someone would get back to me asap re: this issues. No one has called me back yet. read more

I had cataract surgery with Dr. Heit in the Sandy Springs office on 12/10/18. I was told to have someone drive me and wait. They said I should expect to be there 2 to 3 hours. My appointment was at 8:30am so I thought we were going to be one of the first appointments. We were there for over 6 hours. All patients in the waiting room were complaining about the wait. One person's appointment was at 6:15am and they were still waiting. What a nightmare! Obviously they overbook excessively. When they finally sent me back to pre-op the Anesthesiologist and other employees were complaining about not being able to get a lunch break because they were so busy. I was in pre-op for over an hour (possibly two) listening to all of the grumbling. Another woman that was there for surgery was talking to a nurse and indicated that she had the first eye done and couldn't drive. She ran over her neighbor's mail box and had another incident due to her vision. I am not sure how long after the surgery that was. They finally took me back for the laser portion of the procedure and put me back in pre-op. No one warned me that I would basically be blind in that eye (solid white film). So again I was left for over an hour wondering if I would ever see again. It was so bad that I was in tears. I should have walked out at that point and not had the procedure done. My vision is now worse than it was before the procedure and continues to get worse and worse. I have double vision in that eye now and my nearsightedness is much worse than it was before. There is pain in my eye. I feel my eye constantly. It feels like the eye is strained and hurts in the back of the eye. After 4 post -op appointments they now tell me that they can correct the nearsightedness with another surgery but they will not be able to correct the double vision. I am not sure how many times your eye can be sliced up without permanent damage. I wear a patch now and will be consulting a different eye group. It was like cattle being herded in and herded out. They had no concern for anyone's time or concerns about their vision. They are all about the money and require payment beforehand. I will be disputing the $3,200+ charge on my credit card for the procedure. I received different instructions from different employees on my care. When you call the circuits are busy and it takes forever to get through. The only reviews on their website are 4 and 5 stars. My review is nowhere to be seen. read more

Poor practice management. Made my appointment for first after lunch. Arrived before time. Waited 15 min after time to be asked back. Tests performed. Sent back to waiting room. One hour and fifteen minutes after my appointment time I left. The doctor I see is wonderful but the practice management is terrible. I am forced to look for another practice. read more

While staff is very polite. We arrived for a 9:30 am apt and are still waiting to see the doctor over an hour later. They grossly overbook. Clearly a very frustrating experience for my child. I will go to another practice in the future. For a standard case they are not worth the wait. read more

My family and I have been patients for close to fours years. We have found the medical and eye wear staff to be very professional, patient, and thorough.. The in-take staff hasn't given us the warm and fuzzies - but they are always professional - maybe they are overworked. Their new electronic intake system Is like applying for US citizenship and a mortgage. Maybe, it has to do with the new healthcare laws. There's two sides to every story and then there's the truth. I've been going to Thomas Eye Group for several years. I'm always impressed with the courtesy and professionalism. Dr Newman especially. And the contacts lens dept is wonderful. Several years ago I was fitted with mono-vision contacts, but the former tech didn't test to see which one is my dominant eye to use for distance, because 80% of people are right eye dominant. Well, not me. Can't wait to get my new contacts and see if it helps the issues with driving. The wait times are usually minimal, but like any office sometimes it gets backed up. I've never had to wait longer than 1/2 hour, usually they call me back within 5-10 minutes of my appointment time. read more

My 11 year old son woke up with crossed eyes. We go see the pediatrician and they say there is nothing wrong related to the brain and recommend we go to the eye doctor asap. We contact Thomas Eye Group and they say this isn't an emergency, we can get you in August 28th--1 month!! I asked them if it was reasonable to have my kid walk around crossed eyed for the next month unable to read in school, sick to his stomach (motion sick from crossed eyes), etc. There response "it isn't an emergency, so we will not work you in early". I just recently had Lasik at Thomas Eye Group in Atlanta but I've been going to this office since high school. The doctors have always seemed to go above and beyond with lots of different tests and everyone in the office is extremely professional and caring. This practice seems to be suffering from growing pains. I've been a customer of Thomas Eye Group for the past 7-8 years, but the decline of customer service over the past 2 years has me shopping for a new doctor. Despite what appears to be an abundance of staff, I can never get a live person when I call. Leaving a message with the contact lens desk yesterday, I was told to expect a call-back within 48 hours. Really? That's the best you can do? I have had similar experience when calling to set up an appointment or to change an appointment. Another issue that is frustrating: they really seem to want to steer you towards ordering your contact/eyeglasses from them... to the point of making it difficult to get a copy of your prescription. After calling and being unable to talk with someone to order my contacts by phone, I stopped by the office today on my lunch hour. I intended to order them in person, or to get a copy of my prescription so that I could buy contacts somewhere else. The polite receptionist told me that the one clerk they have that handles contacts was at lunch until 1:30, and that there was no-one else in the office that was authorized to print out my prescription! Of all the doctors, technicians, cashiers, etc. that they have there on staff -- not one person other than the "contacts" salesperson is able to give me a printout of my prescription? Come on. She said she was just following "protocol," but this policy was not in effect the last time I needed a copy of a prescription. On the plus side, Thomas Eye has recently completed a very nice remodeling of their Roswell offices. It's just a shame that the quality of customer service has not kept up with the upgrades to the facilities. read more

We had a good experience with Dr. Lipsky, but I can't leave a positive review. My 8 year old needed her 1st pair of glasses. We chose a pair from the in-house optical department and the total was $320. I was told that all the children's frames there were about the same price. Being new to glasses, I had no idea how overpriced they were. I paid for them out of pocket, no insurance, and then came home to find the exact same pair from a reputable online dealer for less than 1/2 of what I paid. I don't mind paying a little more to have them fitted to her face and for personal service, but paying over $150 more for the same glasses, for a child, is outrageous. I tried to cancel the order, but was told that they would charge me $100+ in lab fees to cancel. I will not return to this practice. They made a sale, but they lost a patient. I feel like they took advantage of a mom new to buying glasses and I don't tolerate being ripped off. read more
