Went to the office near North Fulton hospital in December 2015 after failed cataract lense placement in a foreign country. Thomas eye grp md told me "nerve damage, nothing can be done." 2 years later I find out its a detached retina, the delay severely complicating the treatment. After 6 long, miserable, half-blind out-of-work months including 3 retina surgeries and 2 retina laser procedures I'm on the road to partial recovery. Would have been so much better and easier if the dumbass had known what he was talking about. read more

Wait time is incredibly long, but service and physician (Dr. Newman) are satisfactory.

If not for the wait times, I'd give Thomas Eye Group a resounding 5 stars. Check-in is simple, once you figure out how it's done. The locations are easily accessed. The doctors and staff go well above the call of duty. They are simply amazing! Omigoodness, when I asked for a vending machine (which they don't have), one of the doctors gave me her apple! That's crazy! This was only my second visit and she didn't know me from anyone else in the waiting area. Everyone I met was professional in dress, actions, and words. My husband and I have seen Dr Newman in the past. The past few visits have been very disappointing. I am a retired nurse and have worked in offices in the past, so I try to be understanding when the office is very busy. We have given this office several times to get it right, but can no longer go to this office. Dr. Newman never seems to know our past history before coming in the room and therefore tells us things that are already listed in the chart. There was a young lady who did our last refraction and Dr Newman did not re-check her findings, just wrote up the eyeglass prescriptions. We did not buy our glasses there because they are very expensive. We got our new prescriptions filled at Walmart as glasses were half the price. However, we had to go back and have a recheck at Walmart since we could see better out of our old prescriptions. We were checked and told the prescriptions were correct as written with the glasses we had made. We decided to have our eyes rechecked by a Costco Optometrist and discovered that our prescriptions were way off!!! We ordered our glasses through Costco and will find a new Opthomologist, although our eye exam at Costco (refraction) was the best one we have had anywhere. We are out hundreds of dollars because of the hurried and unprofessional exam we had. But, at least we can see again! I will tell you that both Walmart and Costco eye departments told us they had heard the same complaints about this office many times. read more

This appears to be a good eye care group but I would avoid them and go elsewhere. I have had serious problems with my contracts they prescribed. I cannot wear my contacts due to burning and weeping of my eyes. Their prescription is for a brand I've not work before, Alcon. I have been trying to get anyone to answer or return my calls and voice mails for two weeks now. Today, I finally got a real live person who said they would put a note in my medical file that would alert someone to contact me. And, to no surprise, I never heard back from them. I've left numerous voice mail messages. Other reviews have noted the time it takes to get examined and I would agree that the whole process is woefully slow and involves too many people. This is clearly a corporate chain and their concern likely focuses on their accounting department. I will try to find a locally operated eye doctor and clinic and hopefully return to a professional medical environment. read more

This place is BUSY, but the staff is super friendly, and they're clearly busting their butts to move things along as fast as possible. Fortunately, I've only needed to see the optometrist, but I know I'd be in great hands if I ever needed to see an ophthalmologist. I highly recommend optometrist Dr. Jeff Mellom. My only problem with this place is there's lots of super-entitled jerks with no patience who also come here. Be prepared to see irrational people make fools of themselves as they try to disrespect the staff with nonsense and rudeness. read more

Thomas Eye Group, Roswell led by Tim Couch, are the most unprofessional group of people I have ever have the unfortunate pleasure to deal with. After months in trying to get Tim's help, I can understand why Thomas Eye Group Roswell is a shipwreck. Tim responded to one my typed inquires by hand writing his explanation in the margins of my correspondence and mailing it back to me. I was so taken aback by his lack of judgement and professionalism. Thomas Eye Group got my husbands prescription lenses wrong three times in one year, they could never get my vision to be 20/20 with corrective lenses. Since I left the practice, for the first time in years I see 20/20 with corrective lenses. After an exam with a new practitioner and a prescription that looks nothing like the Thomas Eye Group prescription, which for years identified me as farsighted, I AM NEARSIGHTED. My husband decided to have cataract surgery performed by Thomas Eye Group, it was a huge mistake. Their billing makes zero mathematical sense, when you call them for an explanation, no one is able to answer your questions. They print out your ledger and tell you to figure it out. The staff in the billing department are completely "zoned out" and go out of their way to avoid any billing inquiries, they act as if they are not bright enough to answer them. Every time I spoke to someone at Thomas Eye Group, I felt as if I was not being understood, as if I were talking above them. These are obviously under supervised, under trained billing personnel. I was told after being a patient for years with Thomas Eye Group by Mandy Smith, a billing supervisor in their Sandy Springs location, that the staff was avoiding me because I was a "no pay". How does a customer who is looking for help and has valid questions regarding billing error's, get any help/assistance with their billing questions if staff are avoiding the customer? How can resolution take place? DON'T LET THEM GET A CREDIT CARD NUMBER, read the fine print at their kiosk, Thomas Eye Group will charge your credit card without your knowledge or permission. Our bank had to cancel and issue a new card. After 6 months of trying to find one "professional" within the Thomas Eye Group organization, this includes the Sandy Springs location, who could assist us and explain their billing errors, our search lead us to a complete dead end. We finally had to get our insurance carrier involved. After numerous requests and four mailed letters, Thomas Eye Group did eventually send to us a running statement of our account, the amount showing owed DID NOT MATCH THE BILLING BEING SENT TO US. Our insurance carrier agreed with us, Thomas Eye Group even provided to them a lower amount owed on the account than what was being billed to us. Since it was a few hundred dollars less, and our ins. carrier said that it was binding, we decided to pay it and get Thomas Eye group out of lives permanently. To this day our billing questions have never been answered. If you need vision care there are so many better choices in the metro area, there no need to go to Thomas Eye Group, and if you do enter at you own risk. read more

Our family of four has been going to Thomas Eye Group for over 11 years and unfortunately none of us will be returning. We have been back and forth with an incorrect billing issue and enough is enough. An annual exam for my daughter, which would have been fully covered by our insurance, was incorrectly billed even after informing them prior to the appointment and immediately after, the purpose of her visit. The staff failed to promptly follow up with us and we were even charged a late fee during this time. The late fee was later removed but they refused to change the billing error. So for about $150, they lost 4 long time patients. read more

Very unhappy after making an appointment then taking afternoon off, getting my son out of school and driving an hour to get there and find out they don't have appointment down! Lady at the desk could care less and said they were running behind already so I had to reschedule!! I will never grace their doors again and recommend you not either! read more

This was our 3rd visit to Thomas Eye Group in Roswell and as always it was a pleasure to be there. The staff are all extremely professional and Dr. Lipsky had a wonderful way with my 4 year old daughter while also addressing his concerns with me. She was well distracted by the "movie theatre" which was key to her continued good mood despite the eye drops. The nurse we saw had a lot of helpful suggestions even after Dr. Lipsky had left the room. Julie in the optometry section was exceptionally helpful to us and really went the extra mile ensuring my daughter got the exact frames she was so excited about. Can not say enough great things about this practice and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking eye care. read more

Dr Lipsky suggested not using a chain store for glasses due to poor service. We ordered through Thomas, and now after 2 1/2 weeks we still have no glasses or idea when they will come in. No supervisor to speak with, given a number for "Bob" at corporate who's number goes to a voice mail. read more

Absolutely worst place I have EVER been! It took them multiple times to even get my prescription right, and it is still far accurate. There customer services is absolutely miserable. I had an employee from the contact department (the head of the department) actually hang up on me, while I was trying to figure out how to get my new contact lenses. They also take forever. I was in there for three hours! Worst eye doctor I have ever experienced, along with TERRIBLE customer service! Would never recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

The office is like a an assembly line. I was recommended to get a dry eye test. It cost around $50. Then they tried to sell me 3 different medicines at prices much higher than Walgreen's prices. My glasses came in and I tried them on. The reading part of my progressive lenses were not good. They sent them back to be redone. When they arrived the second a time, the distance part of my lenses were a little blurry. The technician took a look at them and adjusted the lens angle. The glasses seemed better. A few weeks later, distance seemed blurry again. I gave up and did not return again. Instead I wore my old pair of glasses and I could see better with them than the new pair. I went to a different Doctor and got an eye exam. He checked the results against both pairs of glasses. The old pair was the correct prescription. I was sold a pair of glasses by Thomas Eye Group that I did not need and were incorrect. The charges were $700 ($350) after insurance coverage) not including frames. I bought the same designer frames which they were charging over $700 for and ended up paying $285 somewhere else. I recommend going to an office that has a single doctor. read more

What a poor customer service. When they made mistakes about my son having Myopia and two years later having 20/20 vision, I was suspicious. However, silly me, I kept trusting my family to them. My husband went to check for changes in his prescription. Apparently he had improved in both eyes according to the new exam. Well, not true. We went to have his glasses done at Costco and the technician there showed us the difference in the prescription. My husband could see fine with his old glasses but it was awful with the new prescription. Thankfully, the professional at Costco could show the discrepancy; otherwise the glasses would have resulted wrong. So we started our two hours ordeal to call Thomas Eyes at their Roswell office to fax over the correct prescription. I called 5 times. All times complaining that the previous time they transferred the call to a voicemail. Their answer? oh, I'm sorry, let me transfer you to someone else...minutes later: another voicemail. All that occurred five times after several minutes waiting during each call. After two hours of them playing mouse and cat transferring the phone calls to different voicemails, they closed for the day. Nobody could take ownership to resolve their mistake knowing I had called previous times (few staff members that I spoke to: Tami, Susan, Diana). I spent over three hours trying to get my contacts fitted and a new eye prescription. The contacts lady, Ashley, was AMAZING (she should go find another job somewhere where everyone else is as professional as her), but the practice itself was incredibly poorly managed (they didnt even have my prescription contacts there to fit them with). Dr. Hall spent MINUTES with me and I could tell he had not even ready anything on me before he saw me. Never did he apologize for how long I had waited there. He was not particularly nice either, which you better be when you make your patients wait so long for you. Finally, eventhough my insurance mentioned them as in network, apparently the contact fitting was not and I was never warned of this. This is a courtesy I have never had a problem with, in fact, i go to doctors where if the insurance lists them incorrectly, they honor it OR warn me of it. The entire staff was increadibly unhelpful, when you first sign in, there are a bunch of senior citizens that have difficulty READING (duh! why are they at the EYE doctor anyways??!!) and arent good with technology, and they put them to fill out everything on this computer and they didnt know how to do it and NO one would help them at the desk until one of them finally asked the lady. Then when I checked out, they did not even offer me some sunglasses for my dilated eyes. HORRIBLE PRACTICE. read more
