    Vegetable Beef soup
    Patrick K.

Good ole comfort food with lots of gravy smothered in top. It's a taste of the old fashion, served fast, cafeteria-style, in old school plates, cups and trays . Meatloaf is everything you want. Beef veggie soup brings you back. This place is a gem.

We were seated quickly and we noticed our waitress was Slow on getting to the tables for drinks and after about 10 minutes she came by and got our drinks. Upon her getting close and speaking it was very apparent she was very intoxicated and I remarked that it was sad about her condition. As we waited for our food we watched her interactions with other tables and she had problems remembering what table was which. She delivered food to the wrong tables and dropped other food on the floor trying to deliver it. Her fellow waitresses were actually calling her out in the middle of the dining room telling her to get her act together. When she delivered the food the hamburger steak platter was literally a dry hamburger patty that was old and had a thimble of gravy. the mashed potatoes were instant and had been poorly mixed because the powder was still dry in the middle. The glazed carrots were old soggy and brown ( see the picture) . We never got a bill because she just disappeared completely. We went to pay and the cashier was able to look up the order and we spoke to her about the waitress needing some help and her condition and all she would say is " we will try"

The vibes are amazing. One the day I was there it was an all female staff and possibly female owned but I can't confirm that. It was vibrant, bright, and welcoming. The food is very niche' so if your looking for a traditional southern breakfast, this isn't it. What we had was pretty good though, the strawberry french toast, and the chorizo bowl WITHOUT AVACADO (this is important) and the freshly pressed OJ was the thing dreams are made of. So why the debate on stars? What's the the avocado?? Here's the thing, I don't like avocado, never have and never will. Not saying it's bad, it's just not for me. So when I ordered my chorizo bowl I specifically asked for no avocado, this annoyed my server somehow and she committed the service sin of trying to convince a guest that they want something they don't. After I said no twice, she walked away and said I'll just put it on the side. Like seriously lady WTF are you paid by the avocado people? No means NO!!! Other than being annoyed by service, it was a good time.

The experience usually great, which is why we keep coming back, and the menu is always fun! The service started great and the food came looking fantastic as usual, until I found a long hair in my bowl. I told her I don't want another bowl , as I didn't want the food to go to waste and didn't have time to wait for a new one. Here is were the service turned south; - Molly didn't come back to check on us or fill the water cups - We didn't get a discount of any kind in the check, as you would normally expect! - I expected the chef or the manager on duty to come out and apologize, but that didn't happen. - Finally, Molly brought our check when we finished eating and didn't ask if we are interested in desserts, as typically the case! Just very odd reaction to an issue Like this, and shows lack of professionalism and training on behalf of the management on how to deal with bad customer experience like a hair in the food. The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.
