Mac& cheese, baked apples, steamed shrimp, crab leg bucket

This place is small, yet was hands down the best meal family has went out and had in a very long time. We drove 1.5 hours and we will be doing it again. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Frequently check to make sure everything is good and or need anything. Very clean dinning and restrooms. This is a must try. Quite possibly become new regular.

We loved this place!! The fried oysters were out of this world and we got the crab legs and the smokehouse bowl! Never had such great BBQ! wish we lived here so we could visit often!

It's a nice local spot - with some good Southern faves on the menu - BBQ and all you can eat shrimp and seafood options but I wouldn't make a special trip. I believe they have live music sometimes but not the night we visited for my moms birthday dinner with a party of 10. We chose simple items from the menu with most people ordering the fried oyster platters - a good deal of you choose all you can eat for $25 and eat 2-3 servings. I chose the pork bbq sandwich with two sides and a small side of slaw. They brought me a spicy sweet bbq sauce for it upon request. The baked beans tasted like Bush's, their greens were good, the smoked bbq was a bit dry and plain but the buttered bun was soft and warm and delicious. The sweet tea was really good as were the hush puppies with fresh warm melty butter for dipping. They brought my mom a complimentary cheesecake when they found out it was her birthday and the staff and front of the house manager were all really nice and friendly. It has a real comfy homey vibe inside and has plenty of seats along wooden high bar tops built into the wall on one side, a raised stage with tables on the other and main seating and booths in the middle. Plenty of parking in an attached lot and clean restrooms. Service is a solid 4.5, Food would be a 2 so they're a 3.5 in my book.

King Crab Legs with clarified butter

In the mood for fried oysters. These little nuggets keep calling my name. It's a close race between smoky green beans and fried oysters as the object of my affection this evening. I recommend them both as 'must haves.' Ordered Alaskan King Crab with clarified butter, steamed shrimp, fried shrimp, stewed tomatoes, Cole slaw, loaded potatoes, side salad and the biggest carrot cake slice I have ever seen! Hush puppies came gratis. Everything was tasty, as expected. But the fried oysters and smoky green beans are the superstars! We arrived just before the doors opened at 4:00 p. m. and only had to wait a few minutes in the queue. After leaving, I realized I had left my sunglasses and called to ask them to be held for me. Upon my return, our server immediately recognized me and came to see what I needed. After I told her, she hunted down my glasses and had me on my way. It meant so much to me that she recognized me, approached me and wanted to help. She did a great job while we are eating at the table - but this was excellent service AFTER the tip! The name on my ticket says "Crissy." Well done Crissy!

The space itself gives you a family bar feeling. Looks like it would be a great locals spot. They had enough tables for any size groups and it was very clean. For appetizers we had the fried pickles and pork rinds. I'd give the fried pickles a 2/5, they had flavor but lacked crunch. The breading was missing on 80% of the pickle. The pork rinds, FRIEND, those were probably the highlight of my meal. The sizzle and pop, the crunch, flavor...I'm drooling just thinking about them again. I don't think I can ever have them from a bag again. 5/5 Main Coarse we ordered the mac-n-skilled with pulled pork, the kids chicken taco with tots, brisket stuff shells, and brisket Philly cheesesteak with a side of hush puppies. Mac-n-skillet, the meat was a tad bit dry but had a good amount of cheese. Creamy. Only downside was the pork. 3.5/5. The Brisket Philly was cheesy, meat was good, great flavor just a bit too greasy. Hush puppies were good, nothing stood out in particular. 4/5. The kids chicken taco and tots were ok. Not enough cheese and the tortilla was hard, tots were just right. 3.5/5. The brisket stuffed shells were unique, loved the flavor just a bit too much cheese to meat ratio for me personally. The brisket was cooked perfectly. Would order again. 5/5 We were in and out in less than an hour. We were never rushed and the atmosphere was warm. The prices are reasonable as well.

I appreciated the selection of local beers on draft too. Found prices to be very reasonable these days. Next, the sides are out of this world. The green beans and collard greens really compete with the best Grammy homemade ones. Mac and cheese, hush puppies, and chicken tenders were on point. I thought the portion sizes were good for $3 sides. I had the ahí tacos and a side of brisket. lol. I wanted to try the brisket! The tacos has a nice flavor with an excellent sauce but the tuna was unseasoned. The biggest issue is the taco sat in juices from the toppings and became soggy quickly. A little easier on the toppings and it would be a really good dish. The brisket. Man if you hype up your bbq it better be on point. It was not. Crazy crazy dry and not really tender either. I got the flavor they intended with the oak smoke but that was really poorly cooked brisket. If you can find a good main dish everything else is lined up for a great meal. Maybe make a meal of the sides? :)

The prime rib was cooked well, the mussels were flavorful, and the barbecue platter had a good variety. The service was great--fast, courteous, and attentive without making us feel rushed. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. It felt lively and energetic, but it was not too loud to have a conversation. Overall, this was a solid dinner and a place I would recommend when visiting Staunton. I would definitely eat here again.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

There are so many options in this lovely town but I made a reservation at Zynodoa because I have been on a farm-to-table kick lately. The servers and hosts were all lovely, interacting with both the guests and each other professionally and amicably. My server Sarah gave me as much attention as anyone else, even though I was the only person dining alone. I ordered the tomato and burrata appetizer. I am not a big raw tomato eater but I knew if these were truly farm-to-table, they would taste good, and they did. The flavor felt like a combination of sunshine and a warm hug! The cheese tasted like a sweet kiss. The portion was substantial, and there was balsamic reduction and a generous amount of coarse pesto. I ate the whole thing! For the main course I ordered the flat iron steak. Because I was traveling and didn't want leftovers, I asked the server for a smaller portion than listed, but either I wasn't clear or it wasn't an option--It's okay, though. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was a shade above rare; again, okay. Sides were good but I added salt. The meal was a bit pricey but probably fair given that it was sourced locally. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the chef is heavy handed on the sauces, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, I ordered the pinot noir and it was good, smooth, balanced. Overall impression of Zynodoa was it felt like visiting the home of a friend with a garden who loves to cook and share with her friends. The portions were generous and the seasoning was substantial. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Staunton.

An excellent and inventive restaurant in Staunton that punches way above its weight. My wife and I…read moretraveled to Staunton recently and were advised to try Zynodoa. The cocktail and mocktails were flavorful and well priced. Our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, town and ingredients. We started with the Chicken Liver pate. This was well prepared, although I hate when a restaurant provides an odd number of toasts for two people. We asked for an extra piece and thought it was funny that they gave us exactly one. FYI- it comes with several accoutrements which were tasty, but the mustard was really the most satisfying. My wife had the brisket, which I would call a must have. Fantastic Asian spices, fried rice ball and Kimchi. Just an explosion of flavors. I was glad she shared. (This is uncommon) I had the pork chop and it was really pretty. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and I had to carve off the fat which made up about 1/3rd of the chop. The bone was the other third...so it turned out to be a thick but modest cut. That said, it was on a lovely bed of mash and some of the best blue and white carrots I ever had. We finished with the carrot cake. (All of the desserts are made onsite.) which we learned was gluten free. Honestly if it was marked GF I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway, when it arrived I thought we received the wrong thing. It looked like a decorative cliff bar. Once we took a bite we were blown away by the flavors and texture. It was delicious. Such a great experience. We were near the kitchen, so we got to see the head chef get orders out. There were some highs and lows, but the overall experience was really nice.
