Mac& cheese, baked apples, steamed shrimp, crab leg bucket

This place is small, yet was hands down the best meal family has went out and had in a very long time. We drove 1.5 hours and we will be doing it again. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Frequently check to make sure everything is good and or need anything. Very clean dinning and restrooms. This is a must try. Quite possibly become new regular.

We loved this place!! The fried oysters were out of this world and we got the crab legs and the smokehouse bowl! Never had such great BBQ! wish we lived here so we could visit often!

It's a nice local spot - with some good Southern faves on the menu - BBQ and all you can eat shrimp and seafood options but I wouldn't make a special trip. I believe they have live music sometimes but not the night we visited for my moms birthday dinner with a party of 10. We chose simple items from the menu with most people ordering the fried oyster platters - a good deal of you choose all you can eat for $25 and eat 2-3 servings. I chose the pork bbq sandwich with two sides and a small side of slaw. They brought me a spicy sweet bbq sauce for it upon request. The baked beans tasted like Bush's, their greens were good, the smoked bbq was a bit dry and plain but the buttered bun was soft and warm and delicious. The sweet tea was really good as were the hush puppies with fresh warm melty butter for dipping. They brought my mom a complimentary cheesecake when they found out it was her birthday and the staff and front of the house manager were all really nice and friendly. It has a real comfy homey vibe inside and has plenty of seats along wooden high bar tops built into the wall on one side, a raised stage with tables on the other and main seating and booths in the middle. Plenty of parking in an attached lot and clean restrooms. Service is a solid 4.5, Food would be a 2 so they're a 3.5 in my book.

King Crab Legs with clarified butter

In the mood for fried oysters. These little nuggets keep calling my name. It's a close race between smoky green beans and fried oysters as the object of my affection this evening. I recommend them both as 'must haves.' Ordered Alaskan King Crab with clarified butter, steamed shrimp, fried shrimp, stewed tomatoes, Cole slaw, loaded potatoes, side salad and the biggest carrot cake slice I have ever seen! Hush puppies came gratis. Everything was tasty, as expected. But the fried oysters and smoky green beans are the superstars! We arrived just before the doors opened at 4:00 p. m. and only had to wait a few minutes in the queue. After leaving, I realized I had left my sunglasses and called to ask them to be held for me. Upon my return, our server immediately recognized me and came to see what I needed. After I told her, she hunted down my glasses and had me on my way. It meant so much to me that she recognized me, approached me and wanted to help. She did a great job while we are eating at the table - but this was excellent service AFTER the tip! The name on my ticket says "Crissy." Well done Crissy!

I appreciated the selection of local beers on draft too. Found prices to be very reasonable these days. Next, the sides are out of this world. The green beans and collard greens really compete with the best Grammy homemade ones. Mac and cheese, hush puppies, and chicken tenders were on point. I thought the portion sizes were good for $3 sides. I had the ahí tacos and a side of brisket. lol. I wanted to try the brisket! The tacos has a nice flavor with an excellent sauce but the tuna was unseasoned. The biggest issue is the taco sat in juices from the toppings and became soggy quickly. A little easier on the toppings and it would be a really good dish. The brisket. Man if you hype up your bbq it better be on point. It was not. Crazy crazy dry and not really tender either. I got the flavor they intended with the oak smoke but that was really poorly cooked brisket. If you can find a good main dish everything else is lined up for a great meal. Maybe make a meal of the sides? :)

Diner vibes, but not put on, with memorabilia on display from their long tenure here. This place started around 1952. The order was given from a touch tone phone at the table to the front counter. We thought tnat some of the younger customers would not know how to use a dial telephone. Drive through service is also available, as it has been since the 1950's. Ordered a burger basket (burger and fries) $8., a chicken tender basket (five chicken tenders with fries) $11.50, onion rings, chocolate malted milkshake, chocolate ice cream dish, We got the food in about fifteen minutes brought to our table. Very reasonable. The 2 oz burger that I received was worst of all the items that I had. It was tasteless and reminded me of a smalll burger at Burger King. 1.5 stars. do not recommend it. We hope that the recipe for the burger would be improved. The crinkle cut French fries were average 3 to 3.5 stars and not plentiful. Could have used more. The onion rings were one of the two great items that we had. They were very good in every way. 4 plus stars. My mallted milk shake was good and the price was reasonable. It was appropriate for a 1950's restaurant. 4 stars. The chicken tenders were large had good taste. 4 stars. Rolls came with the chicken tenders. They were soft and had good taste. 4 stars. The chocolate ice cream, along with the onion rings was the standout best item that we had. 5 stars for the chocolate ice cream. It was creamy with a deep chocolate flavor and the ingredients in it were quality ingredients. Loved it. We enjoyed the good music with the meal. Everyone who worked there was very nice to us, including the manager. We will love to dine there again and hope that it can be soon. Thank you for the nice 1950's style food.

There are so many options in this lovely town but I made a reservation at Zynodoa because I have been on a farm-to-table kick lately. The servers and hosts were all lovely, interacting with both the guests and each other professionally and amicably. My server Sarah gave me as much attention as anyone else, even though I was the only person dining alone. I ordered the tomato and burrata appetizer. I am not a big raw tomato eater but I knew if these were truly farm-to-table, they would taste good, and they did. The flavor felt like a combination of sunshine and a warm hug! The cheese tasted like a sweet kiss. The portion was substantial, and there was balsamic reduction and a generous amount of coarse pesto. I ate the whole thing! For the main course I ordered the flat iron steak. Because I was traveling and didn't want leftovers, I asked the server for a smaller portion than listed, but either I wasn't clear or it wasn't an option--It's okay, though. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was a shade above rare; again, okay. Sides were good but I added salt. The meal was a bit pricey but probably fair given that it was sourced locally. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the chef is heavy handed on the sauces, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, I ordered the pinot noir and it was good, smooth, balanced. Overall impression of Zynodoa was it felt like visiting the home of a friend with a garden who loves to cook and share with her friends. The portions were generous and the seasoning was substantial. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Staunton.
