We would like to thank Thompson and Twain for an experience. We were greeted by Ally. She began our experience of a middle western approach to the speakeasy. No, I was told to look forward to a Westworld type cocktail. However, I will speak to something more direct. A better old fashion. A better sparkly auto. And a new fashion if you will. The wallpaper spoke to me the dears on the walls were more alive than what any of my redneck uncles could've appreciated. I was entranced with that of the new American style of drinks, food and people. The common feel question whether or not calling "redneck style of americana is still alive. Went in on a Monday for a date night with my husband after dinner. Our bartender was awesome. He was happy to accept our special requests for anniversary drinks. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the freshly grated cinnamon that topped my drink. The aroma was sooo good. Service is top notch. Really cool vibe, music and ambience. Much larger than I was expecting! We had the Gold Strike and a regular old fashioned. I loved the Gold Strike! The old fashioned was what you'd expect. It was a Saturday night so it was extremely loud inside. We were not able to make conversation from our armchairs (set side by side against a wall, divided by a small table) so we pretty much just sat in silence hoping for a break in the yelling/literal screaming. More an issue with the other patrons than with the establishment itself. Definitely make a reservation, and request seats at the bar if there's only two of you. In our (my) constant quest to try an many speakeasies as I possibly can, we had to give this place a try. It does have a fairly exclusive entrance. We really liked that they texted us when our table was ready since it enabled us to go to the Public House for dinner. The strong rum drink was great, but the champagne cocktail was outstanding. The western decor gives this a different feel from many of the other speakeasies; but it is very appropriate for Front Street. read more

Additionally, a Karen was HARASSING him and blatantly insulting him and Sean kept his cool and remained completely professional. This is my favorite spot in Old Town, the atmosphere and the drinks are on point! I love the old western saloon theme! I always enjoy the service I receive from the bartenders and the servers! It's a great place to put your phone away and actually engage in convo with friends and have a drink without loud music thumping in your ears. You don't have to worry about bar fights or people acting like belligerent idiots either. Last night was my first time at Thompson & Twain and definitely not my last! My husband and I were surprised to find that the establishment is inside Crush & Brew hidden behind curtains; a true Speakeasy! It was like stepping back in time to the Gold Rush! We were treated well by the host and it continued with our server, Roger, and the bartenders as well. Roger took the time to explain the spirits to me in order to help me find exactly what I was craving. All of my drinks, including my husband's were simply divine! We were there for a couple of hours and could have stayed a couple more! It is a cozy and inviting speakeasy with a very eclectic menu and atmosphere. Hopefully you have had the chance to check out...or shall I say find ;) ... this awesome hidden gem since I've posted very cool drink pics from it. Twas a Saturday afternoon and I had planned to take my parents out for a nice day in Old Town Temecula. Thought of going some place different that made hand made cocktail drinks and boy did we find it. TnT makes some really awesome all hand crafted drinks and the ambiance of the speakeasy itself is quite a relaxing one. Speaking of relaxing and awesome, the staff and manager at TnT are really helpful (and patient) in recommending you something that you might like if this is your first time here or if you are just new to drinking craft mixed drinks in general. The staff and manager Spencer really went out of their way to help us understand the difference between their cocktails, and even provided history on the types of alcohol or ingredients that are used (or the drink itself). I call it a history lesson in spirits and mixology-- yup that's what'd I call it...and it is very cool that they do provide such knowledge because they have so much of it and expertise in this area. Some of my favorite drinks were the Den of Liars-- which was some really delicious aged rum mixed with brown sugar and banana flavors, and the Gypsy Gentlemen which pairs some really fine toasty bourbon with pomegranate and lime. BOMB!!! or one may say TNT because it blew my tastebuds away. Came by today with family. We arrived around 430pm. I was told my the manager that they don't open until 6pm and to come back then. We went and had food and came back at 550 and we were the first ones in line. At 6pm the hostess comes out and asks if we have reservations. We reply we do not. She says we won't be able to be seated until 8pm. I then found the manager I spoke with earlier and asked why did you tell us to come back at 6 if you are already booked until 8. He replied well we are open at 6 and they have a online reservation system. I asked him doesn't he have access to it? And he did not reply. I understand places book out. I'm not upset by that. What I'm annoyed at is the manager could have said, its by reservation and told me who to call, instead of we open at 6, come back then. We waited one and a half hours to be first in line and then be turned away. read more

Very cool spot to hang out for drinks. Decor is awesome and drinks are strong. Service was great. I would recommend making reservations. The only down side is no good music, they had music playing in the background but you could barely hear it. A live band would be cool. We will definitely return. read more

"Everyone likes to walk through a door marked 'Private'..." - Daniel Craig in 'Layer Cake' - It's very true, and is one of the main reasons a speakeasy is a great place to drink at. Inconspicuously sandwiched between Espadin and Crush & Brew lies Thompson & Twain Prospecting Co. After ensuring you have secured your booking online you enter via Crush & Brew. Just explain why you're there and ensure you're either on time or early. In short, the theme, lighting, decor and overall 'vibe' is superb. The drinks are top notch, but be aware they almost all revolve around Whiskey. There's no food available, but there is at both of the two aforementioned establishments. It may seem like a lot of effort, but I assure you it'll be worth it. Just be sure to bring a decent amount of money with you...the drinks aren't cheap, but once you sample them you'll realize why. The bartenders are expert mixologists too, so be sure to tip handsomely. The harder part for someone relying upon tips working in a speakeasy is that they purposefully have a limited number of opportunities to earn that financial reward they often depend on. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, my experience here was horrible!! We came in a group of 7 girls for my best friends birthday. Our original plan was to go wine tasting, but instead we just ended coming here since it was recommended by a couple of people that know Temecula. We came all the way from LA so it sucked that we were not welcomed at all. The people were so rude to us there, I'm not sure if it's because we looked a complete different race, but sadly we had eyes left and right just staring at us. We all felt so uncomfortable we decided to leave. Ended just going to the hotel and I guess having a party there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANY OUTSIDERS! They are mean and nasty people. My poor friend who is gay btw got the most ugliest looks just because she was gay.... it was really sad and that type of discrimination really shouldn't be tolerated anywhere ! read more

Visited Thompson and Twain one night while out with friends. When we arrived we were told that the bar was full, and that they would place our name on a list and call us in about an hour and a half. We walked around Old Town and returned an hour and a half later because we did not receive a call. We ended up waiting another half hour at the front bar until we were able to get in. We didn't mind because we didn't call ahead and we were in Old Town anyway so waiting was no big deal. After we got through the hidden entrance, the place was small and loud, but the decor was fun and the service was decent. The best part of the night for me was the drink I ordered...it was a dessert drink called The Professional Coward, and it was probably one of the best drinks I've had. Delicious. All drinks are $13. Overall, I would say that it was a cool experience to go here and see what all the hype was about, but it was nothing spectacular. I would not wait 2 hours again to go back. read more

We arrived an hour before closing and were told that they were closed because business was slow. They had just done last call and would make no exceptions for us. The staff we encountered feigned sympathy for us but really did not give a shit. If you say your business is open until 10pm, stay open until 10pm! read more
