Celene made our selection and purchase of a large stone very easy. Joshua was so helpful and knowledgeable, advising us toward the right equipment for our needs. Really nice selection of fountains and benches, stuff I didn't see at the bigger fountain locations. Prices also seem more moderate. Lots of statuary, and a pretty decent Asian inspired selection, like pagodas, really well-priced. Even though this is a building supply place, the outside displays are nicely done and provide some good ideas. So, keep this place in mind when you are thinking outdoor stuff. read more

I'm a landscaping contractor and we use Thompson's in Orange all the time for quick pickups and random project materials. We also send our customers there if they need to select pavers or veneer because they have such a huge selection. Jonathan Gomez is at the order desk (at the main yard) and I will say that dude goes above and beyond. Construction projects come with a lot of changes and Jon is always there to help with revised bids, hustling the vendors to get us our materials on time, and he really cares about the success of our projects. 0 stars!!! This place may have great options/choices, BUT they do not know how to run a business! Their workers are worthless and not helpful. They are capable of talking pretty and trying to sell you on items, but that's about it. They have a terrible system. You have to drive other places for pick up and In between that short drive they will sell your items. Their computer system needs a real update so they can keep track of their inventory! I am doing construction on my house and my contractor said to pick stone/rock designs from this company. I initially picked a design and they said they didn't have it. I came back a second time to pick a different design and they stated that they have that design, currently 5000 sq ft of it. I thought great and my contractor will be able to order and pick it up. Come the following weekday, my contractor goes to the company to order and pick up the stone and they say they don't have it. How did 5000 sq ft of material get bought in one day? Well apparently they said that they do not regularly update their inventory so they did not know they were out. Needless to say, I went to go find material elsewhere. Like how do you not check your inventory? Wasted my time going down there and being assured they had it when they didn't. One star for the nice layout and design they have. One star for Mike for being kind even though inventory wasn't correct. Make sure to double check when you order material that they actually have it. read more

If I could give these guys a negative rating I would. I quote from there recording while on hold for OVER an HOUR "Our customer service is 2nd to non, we won't except 2nd best". You need to change that lie because they didn't even come in 2nd or a close 3rd they should come in dead last. If you don't have a large job you don't matter. I was left on hold for OVER an Hour at which point I had to hang up. A women picked up asked what I need so she can direct my call and was left on hold and nobody ever came back on the line. Don't bother calling this place even if there advertising is to call and speak to our customer service who's customer centric and eager to speak and help you. Looks at the pictures I provided. Match the phone numbers and looks at the size of the job I was calling about. Don't waste your time with Thompson who's full of hot air and NOT customer service unless your doing a large job. Lots of great stone and choices. Yelp said it was open sundays. So sad, the yard is but the design center isn't.

I've been into the design center numerous times. We are looking at different ideas to remodel our outdated backyard. Every time I come in I am greeted with a smile and asked if I need help. Phillip has helped me several times now. He is very friendly, and knowledgeable! He gave my wife and I some great ideas, and was a big help! We have been back several times to try out different samples, and everytime the staff is top notch! If you are looking for hardscape ideas .... this is your best bet!!! read more

Selection needs some quality control. Stones are not consistent at all. If you do not inspect all stone pavers on a pallet you can guarantee you will have quite a few that are not the same size. Also when driving near this place you have to watch out for the black armada company car. I have been cut off multiple times by this car with Thompson decals on the side. Overall. Customer service isn't their strong suit that's for sure. It took 4 weeks to receive my product (2 weeks going back and forth with them and the manufacturer because Rep at Thompson kept changing things that shouldn't have been changed). Finally paid and ordered product 2 weeks after we first met them only to be called 3 days later to tell me that now I have to speak with actual manufacturer to confirm and make sure 100% all was right. Also when we were first quoted they gave me the actual price from manufacturer and when Thompson rep realized his mistake he apologized profusely and promised me an employ discount because the difference from first quote to actual pay for product was $300 difference. Then after speaking with manufacturer they said we could in the future order directly through them and receive that discounted price. Arranged with both companies for my contractor to pick up product from manufacturer today to only find out they moved it to the other location after it was confirmed for will call. When I asked to talk to manager because of all the hassle and problems with order he basically said that it was a special order so oh well. I will never buy from them again and I will tell others to go elsewhere their customer service skills suck. Fingers crossed the actual product was done correctly going to find out now. read more

Worst service, no one knows what is going on!! So confused and unorganized, no one wants to work, no one has answers. Hope I never have to go there or speak to anyone on the phone there again. Also after you pick out product (if you can convince one of the 4 people standing around to help) then you have to drive to another location to pay for it. Then make sure you check if they need to keep the pink slip otherwise you have to go back to give it to them if you plan on having someone pick it up. (They seemed to want to convince me to get someone to pick it up rather than have it delivered) No one wants to call you when your order comes in, so I must keep calling and going through a half hour of pulling teeth to get answers. read more

The last 8 years i have been scaling into larger format projects and I would like to give credit where it is due. After going to place after place to find smooth concrete steppingstones I'm so happy I finally found them at this place and they're gorgeous! the staff is a little unfriendly but I think they've been doing the same thing for so long they don't think they need to try any harder but at the end of the day I got what I wanted so I'm happy about that. I would recommend any other stone supplier before trying this place. The staff are not friendly or helpful. I ordered the materials at the design Center (where the materials are located), but had to drive down the street to the other location to wait in line again and pay for everything. Then had to go back to the design Center to get the order fulfilled. Upon my return, I was told to find someone in the yard with a forklift to help. Couldn't find anyone for about 20 minutes (except for the guys that told me they were on lunch). Then when we finally got someone to help, they were just rude and clearly did not want to be there. And no sense of urgency to be quick. Found this same attitude in the four people I dealt with at both locations, so not just an isolated incident. The only reason I returned here was because they do have a great selection. I guess they feel they have the market cornered and don't need to have good customer service. read more

This review is specifically for their employee Jonathan Martinez re customer service from December 2018. I had gone to the Thompson location in Lomita twice and their customer service was simply awful. On both occasions I walked in there and their employees were not helpful in the absolute, aside from that they weren't interested in a new customer. I decided to call Thompson in Orange and Jonathan answered and he thoroughly answered all my questions re the pavers I was looking for. I felt comfortable and drove to this location. His personality and customer service skills were great. I purchased the pavers I needed for my backyard and expressed to him I needed them asap however I understood their turnaround time was longer than what i wanted. He said he would do his best to get them to send them sooner, and so he did. He called and said the pavers were going to be delivered sooner than expected. Because of his going above and beyond my contractor was able to finish my backyard right on time for a special event I was having, so thank you again Jonathan!! read more

This is my first yelp and I have to say Phillip in the design center went above and beyond in helping me with my order of gravel/rocks. My order was very small but he followed up via phone calls and emails. I actually felt bad because I had so many questions but he graciously answered them all and helped me with my purchase. Customer service does not exist here. Would have given negative stars if allowed. placed an order with nestor but he didn't tell us that color in sample is darker compared to actual product. On top of that he charged us higher price. When we went back to reorder, another guy assisted us but he was not helpful. He told us that the sample is darker because it has dirt and had been outside for a year. We decided to go to Fontana and talked to 4 people about our order and every one told us that the sample is darker because people touch it and the oil in people's hand will cause it to be darker. Fast forward to today and since nestor is on vacation, I talked to a guy named 'cole'. I told him to schedule a pick up and delivery this Thursday. Pick up materials at Fontana and deliver material to my house the same day. He gives me a ran around that they can pick them up if it will be available and may delivery it if their schedule allows. If you don't know the schedule, don't assume that it can't be done. So I called Fontana and talked to jose and told him what happened with orange and he said he will have it delivered to my house instead of orange. Will not buy any more materials from Orange. I would rather drive farther because I know people in Fontana will assist and help. Please note that people in design Center are helpful but if you have to place an order you have to deal with people at Taft Ave (orange). Don't waste your time there. read more
