I've been using Reel Lumber for the past several years. If you only need a small amount of lumber, this place will probably be okay. HOWEVER, don't waste your time if you need a larger order. Their website lets you submit an order online, which I thought would be extremely convenient due to my work schedule BUT after about a month had passed without hearing anything, I called them to follow up. Turns out the person 'responsible' for their website no longer works for the company. No one answers their e-mail either. I will be looking elsewhere for lumber --- I can't afford to lose more clients due to this company. read more

I am so glad I found Reel! Been coming here about a year now and they've become my #1 supplier for my small business. I use a lot of birch plywood, MDF, melamine & Eurofoil and they always have it in stock. Every single person on their staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and I like that I can actually look at the materials and choose what I want (unlike other suppliers that pull for you so you don't know what you're getting). Anytime I have a question they're helpful and accommodating. Reel is also very reasonably priced and has a pretty wide variety for most needs. I will keep coming back to them again and again! My only wish is that they carried more 1/8" thick material (like Corelite, melamine & Eurofoil), but I know it's a smaller market and most people probably use 1/4" and thicker. Besides full sheets of material, they also have items for cabinetry and beautiful live-edge wood as well. So happy to support a local business with great customer service! read more

Get quoted a bdft cost get to the cashier ring up and then they throw a mill charge on top making it as expensive as rockler lumber. No thanks plus they measure from the widest side of the board and round way up. I get milling cost more but don't hide the cost. But if your going to charge for milling make it look like it wasn't done with an Alaskan sawmill. read more

This lumber store is the worst. EVER. I came here to get some white oak for a project that I am working on. I walk in and look around. They have a great selection of exotic wood. The problem is that a lot of the wood is piled up. The pieces (1 x 12 or larger) that I wanted were buried under at least 4,000 pounds of white oak. So I asked for some assistance from who I assumed to be the manager and I was told that it's a self serve place. So I asked if I was supposed to move all that wood to get my pieces out, and I was told yes and that I was supposed to put it all back too. In most places lumber is upright leaning in bins which makes it much easier to select your boards. You just move them aside. This was ridiculous. My foot is on the first board that fit my needs. This place is a gem to have so close and are definitely better than going to the big box stores for items like plywood. They carry a good selection of woods and are pretty friendly and and willing to help. The only thing is that when buying lumber by the board-ft it always seems like my receipt usually ends up more often than not charged for one extra board-ft than the actual piece when measured. read more

Holy cow this place is amazing! Great prices great service super convenient and they've been established forever. Let's talk about the employees! Tim Tim is always in the back he doesn't say much but boy is he helpful. Always driving that forklift around like a real man. Sometimes it's real hot and there's no air conditioning and he may sweat profusely. I wouldn't be surprised if he got picked up for a calendar shoot. Jerry Best it's not a surprise that his last name is Best. Jerry is the best looking dude in that whole place. Not only can he sell the heck out of the lumber but if he were single he probably have a trail of ladies following him from place to place. Eddie The guy is always smiling. Of course most wonder if he's up to something. One day he's wearing glasses the next day he's not. Super mysterious young guy. He recently got a haircut and he looks sharper than Ricky Martin. He makes me want to live the Vida Loca! Daniel Daniel has served in the military and is probably my most respected gentlemen there. Daniel is also a super bike rider who can do numerous tricks. With all of Daniels weight loss he should be the poster child for fitness. I would love to be a poster child for fitness but the only thing I'm good at is "Fitness" entire pizza in my mouth. Daniel is a young man with a great future ahead of him. Jeff Jeff is a great guy and will probably end up being the strongest one there cause he's always helping people load stuff on top their cars. My favorite part, though, is their product: high quality and great selection at a fair, low price. They also have a great selection of stains and finishes. The staff is the best part of this place. Very helpful with helping you load and unload your cart. As far as the prices, they are good. It would be nice if they could provide you with a price sheet. This would help you figure out the cost before heading up to the cash registered. As far as the wood, I purchased 25 brd of soft maple. When I went to rip the rough wood it bowed like a bannana because it was not dry kiln properly. This created much more work and made half of the wood worthless for long pieces. I had to cut these down to size. Waste of material. read more

This is the best lumber yard in the Fullerton, Brea, Placentia area. Their prices are very competitive and have a good selection of hardwoods, softwood, and some exotics. (They probably carry dimensional lumber for construction but I've never looked.) They sell surfaced boards so the thickest board is 8/4. You can go to their other location to get thicker boards and boards that haven't been surfaced yet. They also have a variety of sheet lumber going from very inexpensive (and unstable) chinese made birch plywood to very good quality hardwood veneered plywood. What most people purchase here is moulding and other milled products. Their selection is very large and the prices are very competitive. You're better off buying your moulding here rather than Home Depot or Ganahl. They also carry a variety of other wood working products such as butcher blocks, edge banding tape, applique, table legs, glue, etc. read more

I'm a hobbyist woodworking, primarily making furnitures, so read this review with that in mind... I'm going to review the 4 lumber yards that I frequent, Peterman, Cherokee, Reel, and Austin and will rate them against each other using Austin Hardwoods as gold standard... Customer service: 4 stars... the people here are super helpful, especially Jeff... he's always so happy to help and didn't even raise an eyebrow when I asked him to help me lift sheets of plywood to find the perfect one that I want (yes, I'm OCD). I took out 1 star because they do charge $1 a cut to rip plywood. Product selection: 4 stars... they have a really good selection of lumber and plywood. When I was looking for 6/4 walnut, they had the best price and the most stock of the places I went... They also have Blum hardware and tons of Kreg stuff Actual product: 4 stars... I have bought drawer sides, plywood, and lumber from here and they have all been very good... overall, the quality is well made but then again, I bought domestic stuff and not the imported cheapo from China. Summary for this place: this place rocks! The inventory is not as crazy as Austin, but given the people and decent product selection, this is my default lumberyard. read more

This review is for the women who answer the phones. Not service out back. Called to see if they carried redwood planks and the cost. The young woman who answered barked that they don't sell redwood, only finished wood and hung up! I was stunned. Ok, I was also going to inquire about crown molding... so I called back. An older woman answered and when I asked her, she was clearly put out and said I'd need to come in to take a look. They have 'lumber' in their title and 'building supplies' in their description for crying out loud, but you'd think they were selling fine china by the way they acted. Disappointing. I got some adhesive from them I was told was the best. Apparently got a bad batch and when I told them about it. They say they would contact the vendor but for a month I've been blown off by Keith and Jerry. No return calls. Nothing. These people do not stand behind the products they sell. I would buy anything from them with extreme caution. $250 down the drain for a product that was defective. No back up from them what so ever. read more

This is a great place to buy all your lumber, plywood and molding materials. I have been buying here for over 20 years. This store is more for the everyday professional. Its not a big box store with prices listed because it is more of a wholesale company. The staff will provide you with any pricing, all you have to do is ask. If you can't figure out how much board feet of material you are buying maybe you don't belong there. The major benefit is you can pick and select all your materials insuring the best quality. Place looks nice and seem to have a good selection of quality wood but I won't be purchasing anything here since nothing is marked with prices. You have to take items individually up to the front and wait in line for the checker to scan each item and give you a price. That just makes it not worth it for me to waste my time here. These jokers require me to put 8 feet back on the floor. Most lumber suppliers require 6 feet to go back on the floor. Most pieces of lumber are not much longer than 8 feet. The 8 ft rule basically makes it so that they don't make any cuts. So unless you plan on buying a lot of extra lumber don't go here read more
