The dentist is the last place I want to be. Biggest fear of mine and always has been. This is by far the most honest, gentle, and affordable dentist you will EVER find. I had a fall and broke my front tooth that was an implant. Dr. Thor immediately got me in and realigned my top teeth as they shifted from my fall. He made me a temporary crown and then ordered me a permanent crown. The care and service I received was exceptional. I cannot stop smiling. I am able to smile again. I personally HATEEEEE going to the dentist. I've been to several offices growing up and now that I'm an adult and have been traumatized by several dentists, I can 100% say this is the BEST place I've ever been. One of the great things about this place is that they always get me in and out fast!!! They never have me waiting long and they always work fast. I've had all my wisdom teeth taken out here and they were so quick and had minimal pain. I even had a cleaning here and I hate mint toothpaste and stuff and they completely accommodated to me and made the process easy and comfortable. I am pretty difficult and I freak out over everything and they always deal with me so I'm grateful for that. On top of being the best office, the staff is warm, friendly and welcoming. I don't get a "hostile hatred feeling" like at other dentist offices. Feels like I'm saying hello to good neighbors every time! Overall would absolutely recommend this place! read more

I can't believe Dr Thor doesn't have tons of awesome reviews. So I'll be his first one. I've been going to Dr Thor for over 20 years. Recommended to me by Rose. Rose use to make most the crowns for the dentist in Escondido. I asked who the best dentist in Escondido was, because I needed a new one. She told me Dr Thor. The office is run by Linda his wife, Linda the office person, himself & Angie, his dental hygienist. They are all so lovely. Dr Thor is a great dentist. Fixed 3 teeth my previous dentist said I needed crowns for all three. 20 years later they are all doing great. One did need a crown finally after 18 years. Never has me do anything that's not needed. My teeth are in the best of condition because of his care. Had my parents switch dentist last year. My dads dentist let his teeth go so bad without telling anyone that he had $20,000 worth of work that needed to be done. Once I found out, I would not let that dentist near him again. Dr Thor takes great care of my elderly parents. My dad has dementia, but he trust Dr Thor, & I could not be happier that I know they are being taken care of. My husband, who's not the best at wanting to go to the dentist is very good about making it to his dentist appointments with Dr Thor. I actually enjoy going to the dentist. After visiting and promptly leaving one of the dental conglomerates because of their aggressive salesmanship and revolving dentists. I found finally found the dental office of Dr. Richard Thor [not a relative]. After calling several dentists in the area I talked to Linda Thor, Dr Thor's wife and office manager. She said the right things and I made an appointment. Dr. Thor has taken care of all of my dental needs for many years. I am over 80 and I have all of my teeth, they are all healthy and even look good. Dr. Thor works in a lovely facility with his assistant and his office manager wife. He does all procedures from cleaning to root canals himself does a magnificent job. He treats both children and adults like his friends. He is reasonably priced. Dr. Thor is seriously the best! I have never gone to the dentist as frequently as I should, but when I recently moved out here to California I decided I would go every 6 months or so like advised. So I started asking around and Dr. Thor's name kept coming up and people seemed to absolutely love the guy. So after hearing many rave reviews from people in person I decided to call and book an appointment. The lady who answered the phone was very sweet and was able to work me in when it fit my schedule. I was actually surprised because it was late in the day, but she said he would stay later to fit me in. I was immediately impressed. When I got to the office I found out that the sweet lady I spoke with on the phone was Linda, his wife. She runs the office and works the front desk and really is the nicest person on the planet. When she talked to me she seemed genuinely interested in me and what I had to say, which was very nice and refreshing. The office was also very nice itself. It was literally spotless and very classy looking. It really made me feel comfortable with my decision. So I had my check-up and it went great! His dental hygienist was very kind and thorough. Then Dr. Thor came in and did his work on me. He too was very kind like his wife, and I could tell he really knew what he was doing. He asked a lot good questions and definitley seemed to want to know not only about me, but about my dental history and how he could best help me. I had very clean and healthy teeth (nice!) but he did figure out that I clench my teeth when I sleep. So he set me up with a mouth guard to where at night when I sleep and it works like a dream. I don't have nearly as many headaches and I actually feel like I sleep better. Bottom line is, I will definitely continue to go to Dr. Thor for all my dental needs. read more

Best dental office in Escondido. No one "likes" going to the dentist, but the entire staff is so friendly, welcoming, and personable that it makes the experience a positive one. I feel like their equipment is top of the line and the office itself is up to date, comfortable, and relaxing. They're also really good about reminding me of my appointments, they send post cards, and call you twice. I highly recommend this office!!!!! read more

Let me start off by saying, there is NO ONE like Dr. Thor. I brag about him ALL THE TIME to my friends! I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of going to the dentist at all, but his office, his staff and his techniques are better than anyone else I have ever gone to! I have been going to Dr. Thor for as long as I can remember and they really treat me like family there! I haven't gotten my wisdom teeth out yet, but when I need to, he's the only one I will go to! I will never forget a few years ago when my sister had to get her wisdom teeth pulled. She had to catch a flight the next day for work and she was completely fine and ready to go! Her cheeks weren't swollen or anything! I was very impressed. The cleanliness of an office is also very important to me and Dr. Thor's office was in top shape! He even has a TV on the ceiling that you can watch as your teeth are getting worked on! How cool is that!? My three-year-old niece loved it and sat perfectly still for her very first check-up just the other day! Dr Thor was absolutely wonderful with my husband who has Dementia. My husband who lives in an assisted living facility for memory care had broken a tooth. We were not sure how cooperative he would be with a dentist to have it removed, especially since he was convinced that the tooth was actually growing in. Dr Thor carefully explained to him that the tooth was indeed broken and had to be removed before it broke further and caused him pain. Dr Thor was more than patient with him and waited to actually get my husbands permission before he even looked in his mouth. I was amazed at the amount of respect Dr Thor showed for my husband, especially since he did not need to wait to get my husbands permission. It sure made a difference in how cooperative my husband was. He wound up doing a cleaning as well as an exam and then the extraction and my husband willingly did whatever Dr Thor asked him to do. It was not an easy extraction because the tooth was small and sideways but Dr Thor got it done quickly and carefully. This was the most positive experience we have ever had with a dentist. Dr Thor truly is wonderful. The receptionist, Linda, (Dr Thor's wife) is a wonderful caring person. She is unbelievably helpful. read more

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Thor for over 30 Years..We won't let anyone else do dental work on us. It is a small family run with Linda, Dr Thor's wife working the front office. I have had some heavy dental work done during this time and he is absolutely the best you will every find, I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
