I was scheduled for an appointment on 2:30 p.m. The receptionist asked me to arrive early to complete paperwork, so I came at 2:20 p.m. When I arrived, the door was locked. I called the office, and the person who answered told me the office was at lunch and would open in about ten minutes. Immediately after I hung up, I heard the door unlock. I went inside and waited. Around 2:30, the receptionist gave me the paperwork to complete. A few minutes later, another patient arrived. Shortly afterward, she was called back to an exam room. A minute or two later, I finished the paperwork. At 3:05 p.m. I asked the receptionist what time my appointment was, thinking perhaps I had made a mistake. She confirmed it was scheduled for 2:30 but noted that I had paperwork to complete. She then told me the doctor would be available shortly. By 3:15 p.m., I had been waiting for nearly an hour and unfortunately had to leave due to other obligations. I have never been treated the way I was in a doctors office. Taking another patient ahead of me and keeping me waiting for almost an hour is simply not an acceptable way to treat a patient. I cannot comment on the quality of the care given but I would not recommend this office based on how I was treated waiting to see the doctor. read more

I started coming here after being referred by my doctor for severe lower back pain. After having my baby boy I struggled to find my flexibility and be comfortable and the pain just intensified as my son grew and became heavier. When I started coming here I was not just adjusted but educated on the process and how it could be of help to me. After a few sessions the pain started to reduce and I started to regain some of my flexibility. I am so excited to be able to bend and carry my son without a problem. I can sit on the floor without grabbing onto stuff nearby. It truly has been an amazing hell to my condition and I'm happy to say that I'm feeling so much better. Although I still have pain it's nowhere near the same intensity and coming here usually gives me immediate relief. I was experiencing painful sharp pains from my hip to my knee, muscle tightness in my thighs and calves and lower back pain. I started using a cane. I was miserable. My sister recommended going to a chiropractor because it helped her so much with her shoulder pain. Meanwhile I was going to my rheumatologist who ordered an MRI and gave me pain medications. I had negative side effects to two medications and had to stop. Meanwhile I found the Thorburn Chiropractic and Wellness Center. It was near my home and they took Medicare. I met with Dr. Thorburn initially. She gave me a thorough intake consultation. I was skeptical since I had never been to a chiropractor before and did not know what to expect. I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Meeks, Taylor in reception and Ryan for massage. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Not sure when I started but it wasn't long ago. I no longer use my cane and I don't have shooting pain in my legs or muscle tightness or lower back pain. I sleep so much better. All without medications that may give you side effects. Dr. Meeks asked me about the bed I was sleeping on. I sleep on a waterbed and haven't added water in years so it was pretty soft. She suggested adding water to it. I did and making that small adjustment helped my back feel better and sleep improved. Combined with my visits made me feel so much better. Dr. Meeks listened to me and genuinely wanted to help me. She did. I am so grateful that I took the initiative to go and try a chiropractor for the first time. Ryan gives me a massage after my adjustment. It has also helped me feel much better. This is my review from when i was there 5/29/2015 They have the strangest hours. I had a 3:30 appointment and I arrived at 3:10 and the front door was locked. I called and the receptionist said we open at 3:30 and aren't ready for me. I thought that was strange so I waited out front. When they unlocked the door, they didn't care to check for me as I told them I was waiting out front. Ok, whatever. I come in and it smells of red onions. Obviously someone had a stinky lunch. I give them my paperwork that they emailed me and I wait. I waited for another half hour then I was finally seen by the Chiropractor. After a 30 min assessment, i go into a main room where there are 6 Chiro beds in a big open room. She cracks my back and i'm done. An hour and a half later, I pay my $90. Apparently the insurance, that I have never used, didn't cover it. read more

I was involved in a car accident last year. I did some research and Found this place. I love that it's completely women-run with the most incredible staff. Even after a near full recovery, I still come in for monthly maintenance and adjustments. They use a machine gun type device to align you so there's no cracking or crunching involved! I have been here twice in over a 10 year period, and I've been healed by their treatment both times! The first time was due to a bad car accident I was in, someone t-boned my car; the bodily damage that was done was all located in my neck area. I was healed over the course of a year! The staff was very friendly and the location was very clean and nice. For the chiropractic part, they used a pulse machine. I never had anything like that and felt like losing my time and my money. Was expecting for a manual adjustment that i was not event offered. They advised me to come 3 times a week for a few weeks then 2 time a week then once a month. I can say that I will never ever go back and will try a real Chiro next time instead of someone using a machine and making me come multiple just to make money. Really disappointing. read more

I went to this garbage place two or three YEARS ago after a car accident and they still call me every few months harassing me to schedule an appointment. Make sure to ask about the Examination Fee I spoke with Dr. Thorburn to make my appointment and discuss payment. She said that she took Medicare and my Supplemental plan which sounded good so I made an appointment. I drove over to Burbank (half hour) and when I was doing the paperwork she told me how there would be an examination which was $120.00 that WAS NOT covered. She should have told me this over the phone and it would have affected my decision to go. I was not in enough pain to say "oh well. I'll pay". Maybe she knew that if she told me about the $120 I would have not booked. I have no idea if she is any good but didn't like her style. read more

If it quacks like a duck, it's probably just Dr Thornburn. Lol, my relationship with Thorburn Chiropractic & Wellness started off well enough. I made an appointment and went in for a consult. It's an older building, clean and everyone is really friendly. So far, so good. Dr Thornburn checked me out and put me on a plan with Dr Meeks. They have a different style of chiro where they utilize a pulse gun of sorts. Hey, I'm game to try new things. So, I proceeded. I went for 3 weeks and was feeling an improvement. At my last treatment, Dr Meeks asked how I was doing. I said, "I'm great, just a little bloated!" She immediately suggested I meet again with Dr Thornburn again. This is where it got nutty! Thornburn had me lay on a table while she checked the health of my organs by having me hold one arm in place and put my hand in different places on my body. Dr T would then pushed on my arm. I guess if my organ is in bad shape, my arm will fall? After a few attempts, Dr T informed me I was too strong and was fighting her pushes. Confused? It gets better, Dr T brought in Meeks to act as an energy conduit. Yes, an energy conduit! So, now Meeks was touching on my stomach where my organs were and Dr T was pushing on her arm!!! I kid you not! Wait, it gets much better!!! Dr T continues with this for 10-15 minutes. Halfway through, she pulls out a box with viles of minerals, places the box on my stomach and has me touch my thumb to pinky. Now, Dr T is very serious as she picks out minerals in viles, in a box, on my stomach. Every so often she takes a vile out and places it on the counter. Periodically, she has me switch from right to left hand for the all important thumb to pinky move. The whole thing is ridiculous! Poor Meeks is getting her armed pushed down for the better part of half an hour, but still has the energy to cheer Dr T on. At one point, Dr T opens another drawer and is staring intently at its contents. Meeks says, "Oh, she's going to the big drawer" as if this is special treatment. At the end of this nonsense was an extra $50 (I believe that was the amount) charge and the receptionist tried to get me buy several hundreds of dollars of vitamins. I let her know I wanted to speak to my regular Dr first. In reality, I needed to process the snake oil treatment I just endured. Bottom line, there are mannnnnny other chiropractic options in the area. Maybe try one that won't check your vital organs' health with a human energy conduit. I have since informed them I wanted to discontinue treatment and let them know how I felt. Dr T immediately called and offered a refund. I refused. I felt like she put on a performance worthy of the $50 and if I accept the refund, I can't in good conscience share what happened. Anyway, happy Wednesday! read more

As a new patient, sure I had to wait an hour for treatment. When I asked the Doc about the wait time she explained that I needed more time to be seen and she's totally right! I am impressed by her expertise and her staffs friendly disposition. Just a warning for new patients the whole thing will take a minimum of 1.5-2 hours. Plus side - you don't have to pay for parking! I started seeing Dr. Thorburn a few weeks ago. I've had random issues with a shoulder and decided it was time to take care of it. Afterall, I'm only getting older. Dr. Thorburn surprised me after my first exam. She pin pointed everything wrong with my bones, educated me on how they affect my nerves, and gave me examples on how it's connected to each part of your body. I became a Dr. Thorburn fan right away! She listens, cares, suggests, and has awesome people working for/with her. I went for 12 visits and I definitely feel better. Of the gagillions of chiropractors I've seen in my young life (being rear-ended at the tender age of 16 set me up for a lifetime of back hell), she's by far the best. She's thorough and really listens to what you feel your problems are. And then she attacks them with gusto! I've never felt better. The office staff is really nice, the office is comfortable and all the rooms have themes (Safari, Tropical). It's so cute. The doc also used to be a nurse, so she has a full comprehension of good health practices and will go out of her way to make sure you do too. This isn't your typical "rack 'em and crack 'em!" outfit. Continuing your treatments have better results and we've come up with a treatment plan that has worked. I have been able to restart my exercise program recently and my adjustments are sticking. I think this review is long overdue but Yelp was not around 33 years ago. YES, I first walked into Dr. Thorburn's office 33 years ago and it was my first time visiting a chiropractor. Due to a workplace injury that left me in pain and my spine looking like a big S I needed quick relief. Dr. Thorburn had a "Free Spinal Exam" ad in our local newspaper and I called for a appointment. Dr. Thorburn gave me a thorough exam and some treatment. I had my 10 year high school reunion and I told the doctor that I wanted to dance at my reunion. She replied "Oh you will dance." I left there not feeling any different, but the next day my spine was straight, pain was gone and YES I danced at my reunion. Fast forward 33 years. Even though I have visited other chiropractors over the years for various issues with mostly good results, my most recent spinal issues that include pain, numbness and nerve issues brought me back to Dr. Thorburn's office. Dr. Thorburn's examination is more extensive than even the ones performed by my primary doctor, specialists and physical therapy clinics. Even though my condition is not a quick fix as before, she has put together a conservative treatment that has relieved pain and added flexibility already. It will be a slow progress in my case and insurance coverage will limit my visits, I look forward to feeling better with Dr. Thorburn. Rosanna at the front desk is always so welcoming and pleasant. Absolutely wonderful! I had thrown my back out a year and a half ago and it started acting up with excessive pain. I was able to immediately book a new appointment and found that 35 visits/year are covered with my insurance with a $20 copay. With the initial exam I found out I have adult onset scoliosis and 1/3 of my vertebrae were wonky. It will take 2-3 visits weekly to start to put stuff back in place before I get to monthly maintenance it after a month of visits I'm already feeling loads better and I never have a problem with scheduling or rescheduling appointments. A Lyft ride here cost me only $3-4 depending on day/time so I've had no problem with anything. Very friendly folks, and my visits are nice and quick. Looking forward to getting to the point where I only need 1-2 visits monthly to keep going good. So far I feel lots better and sleep better finally! read more

I went here because I saw all of the great reviews but I was disappointed. They got very jealous when I tried to integrate physical therapy into my healing plan. Every time I would come in I would hear comments like "wow you're really messed up today" or "this is why you should come in more" when I felt the best I did in months. My biggest issue though came when it came to the payments. There were many claims that were approved by my insurance and some that were not because they were never submitted by the office, however, when I asked for a reimbursement because I originally paid full price, I was refused. They said they would look into it but never came up with anything, instead always coming up with a different excuse of why I couldn't get any money back even though my health portal said that most of the claims were approved. It took a professional insurance claims examiner to look into everything and draft a formal letter before they agreed to pay what I was owed. Although they made right in the end it took over six months and much time to get to that point. I usually work with providers that help me with my insurance claims rather than throw them under the rug. It just felt like they didn't care much. read more

Dr. Thorburn and Dr. Meeks are both really great chiropractors. In 2019 I began seeing Dr. Thorburn. Her treatments resolved life-altering low back pain that had been chronic for six years. I had seen three other chiropractors and two structural bodyworkers to treat this pain, with only temporary relief. Each just-adjustment treatment at Thorburn Chiropractic takes an average of less than twenty minutes, including wait time. The total course of treatment to resolve my chronic back pain was two months; treatments three times a week, then two times a week, then once a week. I go for maintenance about twice a month, and due to my schedule and travel, have had to skip months at a time. The low back pain I had every day for six years has never returned since Dr. Thorburn treated it. Dr. Meeks is just as gifted as Dr. Thorburn, and the acupuncturist there, Dr. Shay, is truly amazing. Dr. Shay treated me for chronic migraine headaches for three months. Her treatments reduced my headache days per month, and greatly reduced the intensity of my debilitating headaches seemingly permanently. I also did Dr. Thorburn's nutritional evaluation. I found the results helpful, particularly the food allergy muscle testing, which was proven completely accurate when I recently had blood work to test for food allergies. My only critique about their office would be logistical: I wish they had more extensive office hours in general, and more massage therapy and bodywork hours. Also, I have found making cancellations and rescheduling by voicemail difficult. Best to call during office hours to speak to the front desk. read more

For first impressions, the office staff in Dr. Thorburn's office is really sweet. Like super, super, almost disturbingly sweet. They're very helpful, friendly and are always sure to get you an appointment as soon as possible. As far as a doctor's office staff goes, they're one of the best I've ever come across. Dr. Thorburn herself I wasn't as impressed with. While nice, she veers between not explaining anything (like the fact that she wanted me to come in 3 times a week for an unspecified period of time- $$$$!) to overexplaining and speaking down to you. I don't believe that you should assume that all patients are idiots and unable to understand medical terminology, nor do I believe that we should be "sold" medical treatment. Part of her treatment plan includes an hour long seminar and a 15min video (amazing early 90s hair going on in the video) which attempts to convince you that anything other than constant chiropractic is an awful, terrible, very bad, no good decision. There also supplements, special treatments and a whole other array of things just waiting to be purchased by her patients. Overall, it's a nice office with polite, efficient staff but for me, not worth the constant sales pitches and lack of explanations where it really counted. read more

I came into Thorburn Chiropractic Center after having unexplained shoulder and back pain. I felt like she really listened to my concerns. The first exam consisted of watching a video about chiropractic (which was kind of neat) and the second exam consisted of my treatment plan. She is very organized and she gets her patients in and out really fast without having to wait long grueling hours. The receptionist/front office manager was always super sweet whenever I came into the office. I love her voice- I never told her how soothing her voice is but I wonder if she is a singer... Anyways, even though I didn't finish my treatment plan, I highly recommend Thorburn. She really cares for your wellbeing and she's one of those doctors that has excellent follow up.
