I enjoy this place often. I stick to the burgers mostly with the occasional club sandwhich. Everything is always cooked great during lunch.

Food was awesome and price was very reasonable. Had breakfast twice at Thorton's while I was at Boston. Got the smoked salmon egg benedict and Oscar egg benedict, which has a crab cake in it. Both were awesome and only cost about $9. Pancakes were excellent too. The first time we sat inside, the ventilation was not so good, room had a strong smoky smell. The second time we got a table outside, it was really nice. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Would not recommend this location...service was good but that's all that was good. We had a party of 4 each ordered a different item and they all did not like the food. I ordered the eggs Benedict classic and it was over cooked and cold. The hollandaise sauce on top was dried up and the potatoes were cold. The server brought another hot plate of potatoes which were mediocre at best. There are much better locations that I would rather visit for breakfast/brunch in the area read more

It's a fine breakfast restaurant. The food, for the price point, is fine. 3 large pancakes and bacon costs 10 dollars. It's all fine. But if there is a line, god forbid, don't bother with this place. Pretty cheaply priced breakfast! Great quality. We got there around 10am on a Sunday and there was a line out the door, but we only waited for about 10 or 15 minutes tops. The service was great. This place was wonderful. My boyfriend and I were visiting Boston for the weekend and we stumbled upon this place for breakfast. There was a like out the door which meant either it was good or slow service lol. But it went by very fast and we waited maybe less than 5 minutes. The owner is very pleasant and funny. Has little remarks and jokes to say to everyone and makes sure he has an appearance with every table in the restaurant. Food was very good (omelettes!) and service was incredible. Great for breakfast at a really good price. It is in a non-descript building and the decor could be improved. But the food is well worth it.

Very frustrating service experience. The girl waiting on us was nice, but she didn't seem to have any experience. It took 20 minutes after we'd sat to get drinks. We'd ordered food in between sitting and drinks at least. We saw other tables with different waitresses quickly getting drinks and getting refills, but we and the other tables our waitress was working waited forever for drinks. When the food finally came, we had 1 person with their whole order, 1 person missing pancakes, and 1 person with only a half grapefruit. The waitress didn't say anything about more food coming and just left...for almost another full 10 minutes. When the first plates had been brought, we'd also asked for coffee refills. She told us she had to get drinks for the other table first and then would get us. So the almost full 10 minutes passes, and then just when we'd thought no more food was coming the rest of the order arrived...surprise! The waitress smiled and asked if we needed anything else and we reminded her of the coffee. Almost another 5 minutes later we got it. Also when I received my eggs, they were over easy, which wasn't what I'd ordered. When we finished eating it was a really long slow process to get the bill and to get the card run before we could get out of there. read more

Thorton's is good breakfast spot especially since all-day breakfast establishments are hard to find in Boston - generally friendly service, good food and decent coffee. This place now get's upgraded to 3.5 stars because they just expanded the eating area by at least 70% or more; however even with the increased kitchen capacity your food can take a while to prepare and since it's busy on the weekends the wait staff can be overwhelmed. However please be aware that most of the negative reviews posted here on Yelp are for a completely different establishment all together. This place does not serve alcohol so please sober up and stop mistaking this place for the Thorton's Grill near Fenway!!!!!! read more

I don't yelp a lot.. but I feel compelled to for Thornton's. I loved the food, this was my second time here and I had blueberry banana crepes, so good. But my reason for wanting to rave about this place is the service. I work in hotels and my boyfriend who I was with works in restaurants so we appreciate good service. Brie was our server and from the second we sat she was so friendly and genuine. She came over with coffee to refill my cup multiple times at the same moment that I was thinking to myself "I could use another cup". She was always smiling and kept offering to get us anything if we needed it. She even put whipped cream on my crepe in a smiley face... and I'm a 25 year old woman haha... She just seemed to have a nice way about her and we appreciated it. So thanks Brie. You were awesome and we will be coming back! read more

I've been here a bunch of times as I work across the street. Service can be slow and they've forgotten items that were ordered. Most recently, I called in an order for pickup (20 minutes for a bacon, egg, and cheese). The order was never entered. They left me waiting at the counter for 5 minutes before telling me that they don't have an order for me. I'm usually not a huge fan of breakfast foods, but you honestly can't go wrong with Thorton's! Their always super busy on the weekends, especially in the morning, but you can always get a table within 5-10 minutes or less. They have a great menu, fresh ingredients, and the seating outside is nice. My favorite item on the menu is the Eggs Felix or Eggs Thorton. Both are delicious and you will be full for the rest of the day! I recommend sitting outside if you can, as the inside of the restaurant sometimes feels a little cramped. The bathroom is tiny and definitely needs renovations. However, if it's a warm day and you're looking for a nice breakfast place to take friends or family, this place is perfect. read more

I have never been impressed by the mediocre food at Thorton's (nothing to write home about or ever really crave), but I live nearby so it was always a convenient place to grab brunch; however, after the terrible service I received last time I was here I refuse to step foot inside Thornton's again. I had the rudest waiter I have ever encountered. I came in with a larger group of 9 people, and when we asked if it was possible to split the check the waiter smugly laughed and walked away without answering our question. When he brought out our check we asked once again if we could split or at least use multiple credit cards and write down how to split it ourselves like we had done many times before at Thorton's and other restaurants, and he barely answered our questions, told us we could only use a certain amount of credit cards and the rest had to pay in cash (we didn't have cash!), and told us, "Well you figure out how to pay." Then he proceeded to argue with me when I told him how unhelpful he was being and whether there was a manager that could help us out. The waiter claimed their payment policy had changed, but he never once made us aware of this when he was serving us and saw we were a larger group of people. He knew that because we were a larger group he would automatically get an 18% tip and basically did not even try to provide a modicum of customer service. I was amazed at how someone in the service industry could be so rude. Absolutely unacceptable behavior, and this was the last time I was going to put up with Thorton's soggy food and less than decent service. read more

The Philly Cheesesteak was good and the Primavera Pasta was very good (highly recommend). However, I ordered the Chicken Mozzarella Salad and it wasn't that good. The lettuce didn't taste very fresh and the chicken was subpar. I also found a small piece of hard plastic in a piece of mozzarella. We also waited over 20 minutes for our food, even the salad. So though the other two items were good, the salad was not worth $8.95 in my opinion so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place to anyone. read more

Cool little breakfast/lunch place. Went here on a date for the first meal of the day (although it was 2pm on a saturday). I got the Cajun Chicken Salad. Not bad I guess. The presentation was good, but the salad was a little plain. The chicken tenders are amazing. They're breaded, grilled, with honey mustard sauce, and garnished with pineapple and watermelon. Every table has Frank's RedHot, which is a great touch in my opinion. Coffee refills were prompt, and my cup barely stayed empty. Service was good, but our waiter barely smiled. Overall, I'd return. I stopped by the restaurant at 8:10 AM knowing I had a 9 AM appt. I ordered immediately knowing I was short time. I ordered pancakes as that should be the easiest item. Unfortunately, I was wrong. At 8:30 the wait staff brought some little bread stick "to hold us over" and at 8:40 I asked that my order be cancelled as I had a 9 AM meeting. I was told they are cooking now. Then at 8:48, they came, I ate a few bites and had to leave. My husband and I chose Thornton's based on reviews we read here. It is hard to believe the place we went to was the same restaurant that. earned so many good reviews. I will preface my review by saying that we go out to breakfast fairly frequently when we travel. We like to eat good quality food, but count many diner breakfasts in our list of great morning meals. That said, I would recommend staying away from Thornton's. From the top; coffee was cold, waiter not friendly, poached eggs were like rocks, bacon barely cooked and sitting in grease, toast definitely made hours earlier- limp and cold, homefries greasy and chewy. I walk by this place often and often I puzzle at why there sometimes seems to be huge lines for breakfast. Finally we stopped in on a day where the line wasn't too bad. We waited maybe 10 min and were seated. Seating was a little cramped, we were up against a window without much room to move our chairs. I got the Western omelette. It was very lackluster, in fact everything was except the blueberry muffin we got. They toasted it for us and it was really good. Also, side rant: why is it common that places use pickled jalepenos instead of fresh ones without any distinction between the two? I asked for jalepenos and forgot to make sure they were fresh... and they weren't. Pickled jalepenos are a completely different taste, and for the worse. I love fresh jalepenos and dislike the pickled, jarred versions or however you want to describe them. I have no idea why this place seems to be popular.
