It hurt worse than any Brazilian wax I have had. Obviously, that depends on pain tolerance. The girl who waxed me was not the owner (probably mid 20s). She told me to do all the normal positions and it seemed like she was doing a good job. I specifically asked if she got a spot (it occasionally gets missed) and before I even finished asking she interrupted and said yes. When I was done, and my knees were still open on the table (exposing me to the lobby), she opened the door yelled "done!" At me and left the room. There was still sugar stuck to me. About five years ago I found someone local who was able to work with my full brows. She had a one-style-fits-all approach for brows that happened to work for my brows. But then I started noticing that depending on her mood, she would take too much hair off or overarch my eyebrows. Then our schedules were hard for me to schedule appointments. I found one through Yelp in NYC close to my job and stuck with her for 5 months hoping that she would be able to one day get the shape right. After 5 months of money down the drain, I searched for another local brow artist on Yelp and found Cynthia. I was praying to the brow gods to help me out. After months of inconsistent eyebrows and not feeling my best (I already mentioned I'm an eyebrow feign), in one session I felt like a brand new woman. I'm so happy I found Cynthia and a bonus is she's super close to my house. I'm naturally dark blonde with sparse, unshaped, brows that have a few bald spots and almost disappear in the summer sun. I've been so self conscious about leaving the house without doing my makeup, which doesn't work with my outdoor-loving lifestyle. Now that my brows are permanently perfect I find myself walking right out the door in less time and with so much more confidence. The process took less than 3 hours and the after care was simple. I went back to work the morning after getting them done and they looked totally healed within 5-6 days. As far as the pain level goes, it was definitely unpleasant but nothing I couldn't handle, and she stopped to numb me any time I started to become uncomfortable. In the past, my verbal descriptions and magazine pictures of the haircut I wanted just didn't seem to help. To be fair, some cuts came close, but in most cases, once I washed my hair, I couldn't make it look like the original cut. However, after I get a cut at Salon 212, my haircut falls into place day after day until the next cut. In addition, I get many compliments wherever I go! And, as if all that weren't enough, despite this salon being upscale, the professional and non-professional staff are all extremely down to earth and nice. I can't think of one thing that would improve my experience there. I've never seen anyone walk out of Salon 212 with anything less than spectacular looking hair!
