I've been a customer for nearly a year now since it's located not far from work. There are so many threading places--they're a dime a dozen but to me, Thread stands out. It's extremely clean with a spa like decor and the prices are very reasonable.At $8 for an eyebrow threading, you cannot go wrong. I've had waxing done in the past--the rooms are clean and they don't double dip but recently, I've continued to go for eyebrow threading. I went today and was in and out in less than 10 minutes which included taking my coat off, the threading and paying. They also have a stamp card that allows you to get a free threading after 7 visits. Not bad at all. In all the time I've been going, nobody was ever rude to me so I was surprised to read a few reviews stating that. The important factors to me are: good job, cleanliness and reasonably priced and Thread delivers on all counts. read more

Cute, small eyebrow salon was so tempting but I shouldn't have cheated on my eyebrow lady. Pinky threaded my eyebrows a little too thin. This is my go to place to get my eyebrows done. I come here even though its far from work and home. Almost all the ladies do a good job with my eyebrows. I do experience pain and skin tear with two of the ladies there who I try to avoid. But I'm still giving them 5 stars 'cause I always love the shape of my eyebrows later. The place is clean. I do wish they turn on their ACs during summer. It gets crowded during lunch hours on weekdays so try to avoid that time. read more

I've been coming here to get my eyebrows threaded before and during Covid and they have always been very clean. Booking an appointment is also super easy and convenient; probably took me a minute. I had my brows done by Arti and she did a great job. I have thin brows that can look a little fuller if the shape is left wide. Quick and simple! Cute little place near Fulton/Brooklyn Bridge. I walked in on a whim after work today and had a lovely experience. I was seen quickly (maybe five minutes). I saw Neelam. I only got my eyebrows done - just a clean up, no shaping. Process was quick and painless. She then spent a couple minutes massaging aloe into my brows and temples which was HEAVENLY. They time themselves - whole process of brows and mini massage was about five minutes start to finish. They also have frequent threader cards - 7th thread free! Place was simple and clean. Came in looking for Bindu due to the reviews... Bindu sat me down and proceeded to thread my eyebrows. She literally took off part of my brow and I couldn't believe that all she said was that it'll grow back. No, unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me. My eyebrow hairs are very sparse and I've been trying to grow it for YEARS and I am not exaggerating. Girls who are in the same situation as me would completely understand how frustrating it is. I came in to get threading of my eyebrows on a beautiful Saturday. As I sit down the lady proceeds to tell me one eyebrow is higher than the other one. So i looked at her like ooookay. She again proceeds to tell me again where I aggressively shrug my shoulders. She says well I may not be able to fix it but I'll try my best. MAM I DIDNT ASK YOU TO FIX MY EYEBROWS BECAUSE YOU THINK ONE IS HIGHER THAN THE OTHER. I CAME FOR A CLEAN UP BECAUSE MY REGULAR THREADING LADY ON THE CORNER OF 23rd & 7th WASN'T AT WORK TODAY That really annoyed me and it was ten dollars on top of that. The lady asked if I'm including tip and I answered no.. she gives me a look. Tell YOUR EMPLOYEES OF YOUR ESTABLISHMENT DON'T BE REPETITIVE TO POINT OUT FLAWS AND MAYBE I'LLL GIVE A TIP.. Quality of the threading: 5 stars. Cleanliness of the salon: 5 stars. Overall experience due to some of the staff: Unfortunately 1 star. They always do a gorgeous job, but the woman I've had for the past several times has been so rude. It's about 95 degrees outside and I've run to make it on time, and she makes nasty comments about my perspiration and acts like it's so disgusting (repeated comments: "What? You feel hot? Huh? Why? So much?" and, a few minutes later, "Still, huh? So much?" followed by a sigh and a face). I also was having threading done that I hadn't before, so I didn't know where to hold my skin - and she would roughly take my hand and exasperatedly say things like "NO! Like THIS!" and then heave a great big sigh as she roughly put my hand in place. This happened over and over again. I felt really unhappy and think this is a big problem. I've been going to this place for a year, and now am going to look for a new place just to feel better. I was super courteous and still left a good tip, but won't go back. If there's a store manager or owner reading this, please - train the staff on basic levels of courtesy. There's a place at 23rd/Park that doesn't do nearly as good of a job, but the women there are so incredibly kind - they're always complimenting you and putting you at ease. I'm not saying I need bedside manner, but at least don't be rude. This place lost my business. read more

Brazilian Wax ONLY 100% amazing I had not had a wax for 5 whole months. (WTF was I thinking?!! NEVER again) I went here after work after reading the reviews. The place is very clean, quiet and calming. Typical waxing protocol- strip your bottoms down and lay on the table. The aesthetician was very calm and sweet ( don't remember her name sorry). Slathered baby powder all over the goods and went to work. Asked if the wax was too hot. I was too stunned by the pain to really hear her; she was very quiet speaking. I actually ended up screaming in pain; and she really tried to calm me down- For that I will always return, I've had people laugh at me when I was in pain- not cool. She let me know this isnt an easy procedure and she understands my pain- then she showed me how much hair was coming off. GEEZ WHyy?? I guess to make me never wait that long again. (which I will never) I am African American, so I have thick hair that grows in all directions. I always have issues getting a Brazilian because not many people know how to handle that kind of unruly hair. I was scared I would be bleeding and have choppy skin due to the amount of time I waited between waxes. It was a TRUE brazilian- meaning all nooks and crannies were waxed and every single piece of hair was removed- she even got the little trail on my stomach for me. End Result- CLEAN AS A WHISTLE. SMOOTHER THAN A BABY'S ASS. The wax they use is made with honey, and for sensitive skin. My skin is still smooth a week later. This also was the quickest wax I've ever had. Although it was painful- that was solely my fault- it was NOT the most painful I've had. Only thing I would suggest to them is to use more of the cotton strips- I did not like the re-use of strip (the both sides covered with wax and hair) In the end she put some oil on and a hot towel to soothe the swelling. I left happy as a clam, with great a smile :-D (bring some aloe vera gel and put it on immediately afterwards- immediately soothes all pain and removes any left over wax) $40 bucks , if you pay with CARD extra $1 + $5 tip = TOTAL $46 I'm use to paying $36 in Maryland- but it was worth it AND IT IS FiDi :-\ You want an impeccable wax, go there- even if its been a year- you will be more than happy with the results read more

I walked out of Thread in tears tonight - never have I had such a poor quality eyebrow threading experience in my entire life. As soon as I sat down in the chair, I told the woman who would be doing my eyebrows the same thing I say every time I get them threaded - "please keep them thick". I've worked on growing them out for years and had a beautiful full shape that I wanted to get cleaned up; I do this every four weeks or so and didn't think twice about it. While she was doing my first eyebrow, it felt like she was haphazardly pulling out way too much hair. You know when you just have a feeling that somebody is doing a sloppy job? This was that. I opened my eyes to check the first brow and look in the mirror and immediately my jaw dropped - she must have taken off half of my eyebrow. My beautiful thick, grown out eyebrow was no more. I voiced my concern immediately to her and told her it was too thin. I let her do the other eyebrow because what was I going to do, walk out of there with mismatched brows? She did the left eyebrow even more poorly - not only is it thin but it is shorter and completely uneven. I am devastated. I spoke to the woman immediately and the manager who looked at me with wide, nervous eyes and offered to comp my $8 eyebrow threading. I could care less about paying the $8. My eyebrow shape is destroyed. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this salon unless you have a regular person who you know does a good job. I learned the hard way that saving costs by paying $8 is NOT worth it when the quality of work is so incredibly poor. read more

This is one of the nicest waxing places I've come by in Manhattan. I was looking for a relatively inexpensive but clean business to hook me up and Thread definitely met those expectations! Arti was my waxer, and she was very pleasant to talk to and very meticulous with her work. After waxing me, she even threaded and tweezed to make sure she got every hair- something I've never experienced anywhere else. Dear FiDi Thread, you are not doing ME a huge favor by agreeing to thread my eyebrows. I'm a paying customer remember? Even though I live closer to this Thread than to the other locations, I'm never, ever coming back here. To start off, I walked in and there was absolutely no other customers. The workers were all just sitting in the chairs chatting away. It took me a few minutes to get their attention. Then, they finally realized someone had walked in and talked amongst themselves for a few minutes, I'm sure to argue about who would have to go take care of the customer. Finally, one got up and offered me her chair while the others continued chatting. (How incredibly unprofessional, the seat was also warm when I sat down, ew really??). The lady then proceeded to condescendingly tell me to place my hand here, place my hand there, while rushing to get me out the door. Her tone, even while ringing me up, was rude, condescending, and short. If she did a decent job, I'd give her more than one star. But when I looked in the mirror, my eyebrows were uneven and one eyebrow wasn't even straight. I told her my concerns and she just said, it's suppose to be like this since that's how your hair grows. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed or threaded for years now, it's NOT suppose to be like that. I was insistent that she fix it, which she begrudgingly did. At the end, well, this is the first time in my life I have considered not tipping someone. She did not deserve anything at all but my manners got the better of me. I absolutely love this place. I have only been to the Nassau st location. I am in love with Arti. If she is busy, I will wait FOREVER for her. She remembers her clients, is very friendly and fast. I had 3 people before me for eyebrows and they all were waiting for her, making me #4 in line. Darn, if only I'd walked faster, I would have been in front of all them. No fret though, Arti, is so fast yet, thorough (and you never feel as though she is rushing you, to move onto the next waiting client), she is worth the wait. I do not go to anyone to do my brows. She is the only one. I have been going to her since March of this year. I do not mind the $1 surcharge for adding a tip via cc/debit, if you wish to avoid it, simply have your tip money available in cash. I can't wait to give Arti a try for my next brazilian, as I see she has great reviews for that service as well. Overall, the other staff has always been friendly to me and do not feel offended or get an attitude when I mention that I am willing to wait for Arti. She did my eyebrows in like two seconds and when I asked if she can trim it for me, she gave me a bad attitude. She trimmed my eyebrows while I was standing up and was rude. Never coming back. $40 for a brazilian. I repeat, 40! Takes cards. Loyalty card (after 6 services get a free threading on the 7th) Always able to take you as a walk-in. Clean- and they use a separate cup for the wax. Loving- I'd been delinquent in coming regularly and my esthetician was incredibly understanding and as gentle as could be with my lady parts. Amazing. Perfectionists- they make sure they've gotten EVERYTHING and will go over again with tweezers. As less-awkward as it can get. Also for the rookies: take 2 tylenol or advil about half an hour before going. Makes a world of a difference. I never ever take pills but this definitely helps. As soon as the idea of getting in a bathing suit came into my mind, i realized what i had to do. I'm a big girl now and I've never gotten "waxed" before. OK, once, when I was like 14 I got my eyebrows waxed. And I'm a girl that likes to groom--I religiously get my hair and nails done (no fake nails though, gross!) and I love to be pampered. However, something about getting hot waxed poured on you, especially down there, and then having someone rip it off didn't sound appealing--nor did I want to spend an arm and a leg getting it done. I pluck my eyebrows, because, again-hot wax=ouch in my book. And then I found Thread. Their newest location in the financial district is a dream! Really! First off, the decor is super mod and if it had to have a name, i would say sterile-but in a pretty way. It smelled new, there wasn't a piece of dust around, the floors were shining and the best part about it all--the staff was just the best!! Sadia, one of the owners, is incredibly nice and talked me through what was about to happen to me. I was there to get my eyebrows threaded (I had stopped plucking for two weeks to prepare for my visit--it was so hard!) a leg wax and a bikini wax (OK, I was there for a Brazilian but I ended up just doing a bikini-did I mention I really hate pain?!). She gave me a tour of the place--next time I want to get a facial there-the room looked so zen!--and then led me to my chair for the...threading. The girl who did my eyebrows for me was awesome--she was super fast and it didn't hurt at all. I actually thought when she trimmed up the top of my brow, closest to the inside of my eye, that it felt good--sort of like a massage. The only thing that seemed a little odd was the noise the threads make from being moved quickly against one another (like the tools at the dentist office--alarming at first and then not so bad). Once she was finished--which took maybe 10 minutes and I think I may be exaggerating a little on the time at that--I felt like a new woman! She made my eyebrows look great and I felt like my face looked fresher. My eyebrows were a little red but no more so than after a wax and it went away a lot faster. Next, it was on to the waxing room. I was incredibly nervous and I'm shy so the thought of raising a leg to a stranger just felt weird. I told the woman who waxed me it was my first time and she was very nice about everything--she said it's like being a doctor--she's seen everything, been there, done that (no, that's not a quote but you get my drift). It didn't feel good but you do get used to it after a minute. And, the results are great! My legs felt so smooth and there were no bumps like shaving causes--and it lasts much longer. I come here pretty much every week to get threaded and monthly to get waxed, since this is the closest Thread to my apartment. I am giving them only 3 stars because the service is quiet finicky. I have tried almost all of the girls that work here but the service really varies not just by person to person but also from day to day. That's my problem with the girls in this location - the service is just not consistent. On the other hand, on the occasions I am in east village I go to the Thread there and hands down I get better service there. Often at the Financial District locations, I have little cuts from threading, the girls are rude and just trying to do a quick job. For those of you who are closer to the East Village location or find that location more convenient, I would definitely recommend going there. read more

How do I even begin to explain how fantastically amazing thread is... I came here to pop my threading cherry. the salon itself is gorgeous. Its clean and modern and inviting. It makes you feel like you're getting a million dollar service which you are you're just not paying for it. One thing, the music is a bit on the loud side. My aesthetician was so sweet and I am kicking myself for not getting her name. I freaked out not because the procedure was painful (it just feels like scraping) but because it was such a strange feeling and so different from what I am used to. Which is waxing or plucking. She gave me such an amazing arch and I love her. The results lasted a little more than 2 weeks with very little growth on the lower lid which is my problem area (embarrassing). I plan on making thread my spot for brow care. Its right next to my work and shocker, its only $8!! Caution, bring cash for the tip. Although this financial district location is a bit out of the way, I wouldn't mind coming back here as a regular customer because their service was superb!
