I typically love leaving good reviews, but it's impossible for a place like this. We were called to be seated and found ourselves sharing a table with another fella who had been there for a while. At least he was offered and had a cup of coffee. As we sat there, the hostess seated another person at our table. She was kind and did ask if it was okay, and, of course, we said yes. Both guys were nice, but I was trying to enjoy some time with my wife. There were no waters, no coffee, and no communication from the server that they were running behind. We sat at the table without so much as a word or even a drop of water. Finally, the server came over and asked the first gentleman, who had been lucky enough to get coffee, for his order. He replied, "I'll just pay for my coffee; I'm out of time." Then she left, and the other guy recently seated with us said, "I'm glad it's not just me!" I came here with my friends while were to spending a few days in the North Cascades and nights in Winthrop and I was pleased with my overall experience. There wasn't a line ahead of us but there was about an hour wait for sitting in the dining area. They gave us the option of eating in the bar and we did. There are high tables with chairs around to give you the generic dining in here as well. As soon as such table opened up we made our way to it. Eating in the bar does not give you your food any faster than what the dining area quoted. If you were ordering drinks only it'll be fast but since we were ordering food, things weren't any faster. There is only one kitchen afterall. The portion sizes were satisfying. We waiting a long time for our food, but at least we had our drinks and a place to sit. This is a mid western themed restaurant in Winthrop. We went in for a night snack, and had the Blazin' Nachos (veg) and Chicken Wings/Drumettes with BBQ Sauce. We loved the chicken wings, the skin was crispy fried, the meat was soft, and the BBQ sauce was tangy. Their Bleu cheese dressing paired great with their chicken. The nachos were really good too! Note: If you are driving into Winthrop late night after visiting Cascades National Park, this might be one of the few options open until 11pm to grab some food. Although Google says they are open until 11pm, they wrap up around 10:15pm and the waiters start rushing you to close the tab, so get in before that time. read more

If I had been by myself, it might have been OK. The male in our group is Native American, and he was completely ignored until we showed up. We were told breakfast was not served and we should go to the Cider House. We came for lunch. There were two tables already seated when she led us to a booth. She had been sitting right by the door, and took her own sweet time about getting up to seat up. We waited quite a quite before anyone showed up with a water glass or menus, maybe five minutes or more. Meanwhile, the table across the room was getting their food. Two tables that came in after us were seated, and their orders taken. We still had not even been given water. The entire restaurant but one table was full when we got our food. Everyone had come in after us. (That first table had finished and gone before we got our food.) When the waitress came, I asked why others, who came in after us, were getting their food before we had even ordered. She said the tables across the room were a different waitress, and she didn't know. I said, "You mean the kitchen staff fills orders for one waitress before the other?" She shrugged. She flat out lied when she said the tables served ahead of us came in before us. Then the waitress that was supposed to be at the "Other side" was also serving on our side. Flat out lies. It took close to half an hour to get our food. The chicken wrap I had was pretty good. I suspect if I had come in without my friend, I would have gotten pretty good service. The food was just barely above room temperature, which didn't matter with the chicken wrap, but make the hamburger unappetizing, and the fries were stone cold. The dining room is separated from the bar by half wall so you can hear laughing and pool balls clacking while you eat but that's not a bad thing! This is a local place, not a tcookie cutter restaurant that it could exist anywhere. Dinner menu is nicely varied, from soups & salads to steaks and chicken wraps. My bacon and blue burger was very tasty. Plenty of melty blue cheese! Fries are really good, seasoned lightly with rosemary & surprisingly tasty! Experienced one of the few truly racist experiences I've had in WA. A couple Asian friends and I came here on a late weekend night, looking for something to eat. We walk, and the restaurant is pretty packed, but some open tables. Everyone was staring at us. The host/waiter said they're closed. Not "we're not serving food anymore" but "we're closed". There wasn't much to say and we didn't get good vibes at all so we just left. Mexican place across the street so much friendlier and way better food. read more

So Winthrop isn't exactly a foodie destination. Three Fingered Jacks is a little bit of a tourist trap mixed with a local hangout. The food is ok, it's bar type food. Service is hit or miss, it can be pretty slow. The atmosphere fits the Winthrop theme/vibe. The bar has a couple pool tables and tv's. They have an ok selection of beer and cocktails. They don't have grey goose. If you are in town and in the mood for a burger or something like that, it's worth stopping by. If nothing else, grab a drink and check it out. They feature a decent menu with something for everyone in the bar food category. They have a full bar inside with a modern jukebox, flat screens, and possibly some pool tables but I can't remember for sure. I had a mushroom burger. There's a $2.29 up charge for French fries or a salad of some type. Otherwise you get a small thing of coleslaw and a small bag of potato chips. If you opt for fries that makes your burger close to $15. The burger was good and not overdone. It came with lettuce tomato and onion. The decor is what you would expect... a rustic, western motif. This is a stop for most people looking for a quick bite while here in town. There are better places in Winthrop but TFJ's is solid. read more

Neat rustic town with a western theme right down to the wooden board walk connecting the downtown businesses. We had breakfast at TFJ's and it was excellent, everything tasted made from scratch and some of the best sourdough toast ever. Went great with the sausage gravy or blackberry jam. Being in Winthrop for a week we have visited Cider House, East 20 pizza, and Schoolhouse brewery. This was our family's favorite experience for service and food. We have two older teen boys for reference. Our receipt says our waitress is named Pop. She did appear to be new to the establishment but was attentive, cared, and did a great job all around. They also sat us quickly and had another young lady making sure waters were full and plates were cleared. It was organized. The food was good and we enjoyed the experience more than the other establishments listed above. They also had the coldest beer of any place we visited and the IPA pint I had on draft was 5.50. Again, better priced than the competition. We plan to go back tomorrow for the Friday night prime rib special and hope to have the same waitress. Great job jacks saloon. read more

My daughter and I just finished having dinner here. We started off with the onion rings with sides of ranch dressing and barbecue sauce. The onion rings were very good. We enjoyed both the dips. I had the BLT chopped salad. Wow! Was it good. When they first presented it, I thought there's no way I can eat all of it. It was so big. But the scrumptious bacon, roasted almond slivers, chopped apples, and just the whole salad all together, was so good, I ate it all. My daughter had the Jack Attack hamburger. She thought it was really good, though the pulled pork could have used more sauce. You have to dine in if it's after 6:00 p.m. They stop taking takeout orders at 6:00 p.m. We really enjoyed dining here and would definitely eat here again when we get back to the area. Seems like every other place shut down early in this small town, but after a day of hiking, we were desperate for a warm meal and a cold beer. This place hit the spot! The service was great!
