    Seafood Mongolian BBQ

3rd visit to THE NEW & INCREDIBLY IMPROVED, THREE FLAMES BBQ. Javier & amazing Chef Anthony presented us with many culinary delights. Two of which were the Seafood Mongol BBQ, the other the hands down best & most creative CrispyPork Belly Taco Ever. It great to have a new great go to restaurant in our Westchester neighborhood. Thanks Frank & Staff from Monica & Bobby. BTW, really booze as well!

So what do you get when a family takes over an old school hole in the wall Mongolian BBQ restaurant in a strip mall on a quiet stretch of Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood and brings in a Michelin-starred chef to create a Mexican-inspired menu of tacos and tostadas? Magic, Kevin. You get magic. My wife read about Three Flames on NextDoor, a website I generally hate, but this time it was a score. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Frank, who introduced himself as the husband of the owner. He immediately made us feel welcomed and proudly gave us a brief history and walked us through the menu. The small dining room is adorable and the vibe is impeccable. The other patrons were friendly and welcoming. It's not fancy. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. And the food! We ordered the fish taco, the scallop taco, the albacore tostada and the beef Mongolian BBQ. Everything was delicious. My personal favorite was the tostada, which was awesome with a drizzle of the house pineapple habanero hot sauce. My wife had a hard time picking a favorite, but really enjoyed the BBQ, which comes as a dish, hot off the grill and was one of the best versions I have ever had. The bottom line is that we spent a lot of our dinner talking about who we could bring with us next time. It was a long list and we can't wait to come back and continue working our way through the menu. But honestly, you shouldn't take my word for it. You should check it out. Not only because the food is amazing, but also because supporting small family run businesses is more important now than ever.

    SHAO BING a must !!!

Patrons since 1995! Owners know 4 generations of my family. Location has not changed. The ambience is all the same, including the huge reversed wok your food is cooked on, and very well seasoned. You choose your veggies, your proteins, noodles, sauces. Plenty of delicious choices. It's a place that is very family oriented as well. The food is delicious!!! The warm sesame bread is a must addition. Three Flames Mongolian is a down home eatery with delicious food.

Before I added the sauce! Very Delicious

I really liked the vibe and the food was next level. I had a few things and the item that stands out to me was the albacore tostada, amazing in every sense of the word. I recommend this to anyone who likes great service and crazy good food...

We had the albacore tostada, the ceviche tostada and the kids had the burgers. Everything was very flavorful! Definitely coming back to try the tacos . Anthony the chef was fast and friendly . Great music and the Dodger game was on! Cozy seats, nice decor.

    Great Menu!!!

Great Food!!! Delicious Tostadas!! Service is awesome!! I love the TV to watch Dodgers games!! Thank you Three Flames!!!!

Nice cold beverage with a mixed seafood tostada.

I have been coming to this restaurant since 2007. Yes it's under new ownership but the original noodle dish still is made . In addition new items have been added like seafood tacos and tostadas . You can come alone or with a group and mix and match dishes and enjoy your dining experience. Because that is in fact what has been created an experience you will all love . I will continue to support and look forward to trying all of the new dishes. Thank you for the welcoming service.

We came for dinner and beer. The food is average, and a little bit too sweet for us. The portion is decent.

LONG over due review. I have featured this restaurant in my Food Reviewing Dungeon Meshi panel that…read moreI hold at anime conventions for their hearty traditional Mongolian stews! Unique, traditional Mongolian dishes with wonderful service. It's so cool that you can see that the restaurant is a hub of culture and community as well. SoCal Mongolian community loves Arag. They have karaoke nights and other events that support the community (I think an attorney who works with the Mongolian community does events here too), so that's always a plus in my book. Love all of the traditional decor and knick knacks here as well as the M-pop and music videos that they play on TV too. We managed to find free parking nearby, so it is possible. For our later lunch, we got the: 1) Mongolian Hot Tea: -This was a salted milk tea when I had it. Very unique and the slight saltiness with the sweet milky taste is refreshingly different from other places. Definitely a bit of an acquired taste but I like it whenever I have it. 2) Deep Fried Flat Dumplings (Khuushuur): -Comes with 3 pieces, it's deep fried dumplings with your choice of protein in a crispy dough shell. We got the lamb offal since it's the most unique one that they had. I don't usually eat organ meat but this wasn't too iron-y or ammonia tasting like other times I've had organ meats and was seasoned to perfection. No weird texture either. -Every culture has some form of dumpling/hot pocket-esque food that is delicious and super easy to eat. This is a popular street food in Mongolia and you can easily see why. Moist delicious seasoned meat in a crispy dough shell? Say no more. -Comes with a small side of their slaw salad. 3) Smoked Stir-Fried Noodles with Beef Brisket: -This was our "main" entree with carbs and protein. -It's smoked Tsuvian (actual name of the dish) with traditionally prepared hand pulled and pan fried noodles, made with beef brisket and julienne carrots, zucchini, and homemade salted chives. -It's a simple dish you can find in many other cultures but the seasoning, the way the noodles are prepared, makes it delicious in it's own way. Perfect for those who want to try something new, but don't want to dive off of the deep end so quick. 4) Steamed Soup/Bituu Shul: -This is a traditional sealed soup with tender mutton, slow cooked in a sealed pot with wild herbs, garlic, and ginger. -Super unique dish and very eye catching. Seeing this on the menu I had to get it. You can drum the top of the dough with your spoon like a drum. Pretty fun! -It's a very flavorful broth soup that has a strong flavor of lamb and herbs. Perfect for a cold day or if you're feeling a bit under the weather. The dough pieces make for nice "pasta like noodles" for the soup. Lots of lamb meat pieces in it too. Definitely recommend, but next time I want to get borscht too since it's one of my favorite soups. A must for unique and delicious food!

During that entire time, the employee never brought me a menu, offered me a drink, or made any effort to serve me. The restaurant was nearly empty--there were only four other customers, and they were already eating--so being busy was clearly not the issue. Instead of welcoming and assisting a new customer, the employee chose to focus on selling wallets near the display case while I sat there completely ignored. I came in ready to eat and spend money, but after being treated like I was invisible, I simply left. No matter how good the food may be, it does not matter when a customer cannot even get a menu. If the staff is this uninterested in serving customers, then it is hard to understand why the restaurant is even open. A terrible first impression and definitely my last visit. I would not recommend this place.

Upon entering the restaurant, well lit interior with wall painting of Mongolian grass field was seen. The restaurant was very clean and created a comfy dinning atmosphere. There was no outdoor seatings at all. The server was speedy, got us seated within seconds. The menu was simple to read. The price was very reasonable. Food preparation took slightly longer than expected but well worth the wait. The lamb xiaomai was delicious with ground lamb meat and thin wrapping. The beef population like pan cake was delicious too. There is a condiments and soup station, you can fill up your bowl as many times as you want. Very delightful. The lunch order also included complimentary salty milk tea or yogurt. We were definitely satisfied with the portions. Since we had a late lunch on a weekday it was not that hard finding parking and there was no wait to be seated either. As soon as I walked in I smelled goat/lamb, and noticed the pretty paintings on the walls. We ordered the namesake Mongolian Homemade Pies (an order has 3 pieces), cold dish three pieces, and spicy duck blood stewed with beef tripe. The meat pies were delicious with juicy meat, and the appetizer cold dishes were refreshing. However, the duck blood dish contained no duck blood whatsoever. The Chinese name for the dish 毛血旺 literally has blood in the name! The waitress tried to tell us the restaurant does not use pork to be halal as this dish often has pork intestine and pork blood, but I am not sure how that would affect the lack of duck blood. She felt bad so gave us some meat jerky. The bowl was a very large portion so I packed it to-go to make some adjustments at home. The complimentary lamb broth was tasty though undersalted (you can add salt to taste from the sauce bar). I also would have liked the soup to be hotter in temperature. You are also served complimentary milk tea or yogurt upon being seated, so we had one of each. The milk tea was too salty for my tastes but the yogurt was tasty. Overall the food and service were fine and I would come back to try more off of the menu.
