Just left Three Flames on a Friday afternoon. Not too busy, which was nice. I came in with a craving for Mongolian beef and found this spot on Yelp closest, highest rated. Anthony helped me out, and he was great. First thing he asked was if it was my first time (it was). He walked me through the options. I couldn't decide between chicken or beef, and he let me know I could do both--half and half. Perfect. He also asked about spice level, which I appreciated. Food came out quick, service was solid, and the Mongolian beef hit the spot. Pics below. What surprised me is how much variety they've got--chicken, burritos, burgers, plenty of Mexican dishes. It's basically two restaurants in one, which makes it easy if you're bringing family or a group. That range is what bumped them from a 4.5 to a full 5 in my book. I walked into three flames expecting the nostalgia Mongolian barbecue I grew up with, however I was pleasantly surprised with a change of menu and the quality of food. I tried one of almost everything from the Marisco style ceviche tostada to the amazing tempura batter fish taco. And of course, I got a plate of Mongolian barbecue. They get tortillas from the to factory next to And they were love at first bite. The owner came up to our table multiple times to check on us recommended stuff on the menu to try and explain to us that it's actually a Michelin starship that created the menu and you could taste it every dish that they prepared. So of course, I had to get the Mongolian barbecue, even though nowadays at this place with everything on the menu it was a hard decision to choose a classic, but that's why people go therefore so I had to. The steak quality is incredible literally melted in my mouth. Thinly sliced and cooked the perfection. I love what they've done with the place. Very cozy spot with a TV. I ordered the chicken Mongolian with the expectations of loading my own bowl with tons of veggies. Nope! There is a list of veggies that are included and you just let her know what not to include. I was little concerned about how the food would come out because the cooking technique was a little simplified compared to the previous owner. The food is still cooked on the large wood stove. It was more like cooking on a griddle technique. BUT! I must say the food was good. It did remind me of yakisoba. Had tons of flavor. Carrots were delicious and sweet. Right amount of spice. I only wish the portion size was a little bigger for the price and that they had pineapple. Recommend!! read more

So what do you get when a family takes over an old school hole in the wall Mongolian BBQ restaurant in a strip mall on a quiet stretch of Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood and brings in a Michelin-starred chef to create a Mexican-inspired menu of tacos and tostadas? Magic, Kevin. You get magic. My wife read about Three Flames on NextDoor, a website I generally hate, but this time it was a score. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Frank, who introduced himself as the husband of the owner. He immediately made us feel welcomed and proudly gave us a brief history and walked us through the menu. The small dining room is adorable and the vibe is impeccable. The other patrons were friendly and welcoming. It's not fancy. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. And the food! We ordered the fish taco, the scallop taco, the albacore tostada and the beef Mongolian BBQ. Everything was delicious. My personal favorite was the tostada, which was awesome with a drizzle of the house pineapple habanero hot sauce. My wife had a hard time picking a favorite, but really enjoyed the BBQ, which comes as a dish, hot off the grill and was one of the best versions I have ever had. The bottom line is that we spent a lot of our dinner talking about who we could bring with us next time. It was a long list and we can't wait to come back and continue working our way through the menu. But honestly, you shouldn't take my word for it. You should check it out. we had: cauliflower tostada, fish / cod taco, shrimp coctel, the sucias fries, and miches -the cauliflower tostada is delicious and I'll get that every time we go. I love all the different stuff on it. and the homemade Pina pepper sauce is really good with it but beware of the spiciness -the fish taco with the stuff on it was delicious and their tortillas are the nice thicker chewier ones that I think are better -coctel was delicious and it's a good amount of shrimp for the price. I liked that it also had a good amount of Persian cukes in it -sucias fries...so good and their homemade chorizo is really good. I also felt they didn't over power the fries with sauce. oh and they're skinny crispy fries which were cooked perfectly -the homemade miche mix they use is perfect and it's got some heat on it -we also got the pretzel churro which is basically a homemade fresh pretzel prepped like a churro and honestly I think we like it better than OG churro. the dip sauce they make is also perfect -Anthony helped us and he's awesome. we will keep bringing new friends here. ...also, he said they often have a food stand at Boardroom Brewery on Fri nights which gives us another excuse to bring after Fri work folks here Please go here and support this local place. Wish they would've kept tradition alive. The new owners made the restaurant look nice but changed the food. The flavor is gone. The portions are gone. We were huge fans of Tacos Punta Cabras in Santa Monica before it closed. The chef is now running 3 Flames and I'm happy to report the amazing tacos are here. These are the most delicious, calibrated, mind blowing tacos to me, available in a very modest strip mall in an industrial part of town. There are many places to get incredible tacos in LA. This is something different. Addicted to the fish tacos. I also appreciate the homemade corn tortilla with a tiny bit of char and the perfect amount of chewiness to hold the bite together. This is NO LONGER THE OG 3 Flames Mongolian BBQ. while M-BBQ is still available, you can no longer serve your own veggies or sauce. They have a set menu for what comes in it and you have to customize as you like however, I get home only to find jalapeños in it even though they're not listed as being included! Portion sizes are about 1/2 what they used to be. we went just after 6pm and waited approx. 45 minutes because the grill (?) wasn't even on so we had to wait for it to heat up. The worst of it all, no more SHAO BING!! I will say, the beef is fresh and tasty and the staff was sweet. They now have other offerings (burgers & seafood) so while we *might* be back for those, this spot is no longer our M-BBQ spot! read more

I've been coming here for most of my life, and honestly love what the new owner has done with the place, the new vibe is great and much cleaner. The mongolian bbq is different, but still delicious. Definitely better quality ingredients than before. And I have to say, the tacos are fantastic. While visiting friends in LA I was treated to lunch here. Was hesitant to try the Pork Belly tacos. I was pleasantly surprised they were by far the best tacos I've evet tasted. Oh man sad to see this place go. Service was absolutely great and much better than previous owners, price is substantially more and it was already pretty pricey, but when you have good food price doesn't matter which isn't the case here for the Mongolian food the locals are used too. The noodles remind me of top ramen (cup of noodles) and have very low flavor the meat was decent and the vegetables are very minimal and you don't get to load it yourself anymore. It seems the restaurant is trying to go a different direction so I will re-review to see if the Mexican food they are offering is good but at the moment for a Mongolian food restaurant do not recommend. Had two plates with extra meat and it came out too $59 again if food was amazing I'd be on board but it went down a level in my opinion but excited to try the new items they are heavily promoting. This restaurant is a small mom-and-pop shop. Barbara, the owner, is very nice and makes you feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. With COVID doing on, I wasn't sure if we were allowed to serve ourselves but I told her what meat I wanted and then it was on me to pick my veggies and sauces. If you want noodles, it's a small extra charge. After you pick what you want in your bowl, your food is cooked right in front of you. It's not the best Mongolian BBQ I've ever had but I thought it was decent. The dish felt more like a yakisoba noodle dish than Mongolian BBQ. Nonetheless, the portion size was great. So my friend and I were heading to the Forum and wanted to get something to eat first. I pulled up yelp and this place came up and we both like Mongolian bbq so we decided to try it out. It is in a little strip mall and definitely what I consider hole in the wall. But as you know hole in the wall places sometimes have the best food. There was only a lady working there but she was very friendly and told us she would be right with us. When I think of Mongolian bbq I am use to being able to pick all the veges and adding my meat but not here. You can add all your veggies to the bowl and sauces but then she weighs out the meat you want and charges you accordingly for the meat. I was a little hesitant but the grill was unlike any grill I've seen and looked cool. My friend wanted to do beef, chicken and shrimp and she told him it's $10 extra for shrimp which I personally think is a little outrageous . She basically charged him $1 per shrimp. After she was done cooking it for us. I must say it looked really good and tasted really good too. I went with a spicier sauce and truthfully it was some of the best Mongolian I've ever had. I would definitely go back. It was $16 for mine but $27 for my friend because of the shrimp. So that's pretty much the only bad thing I have to say is , pricey if you want shrimp and you don't get to put your own meat in. But would I come back ? ABSOLUTELY. This Mongolian grill place is awesome! You load your choices of veggies and sauce in your bowl, pick your choice of meat (I loved their firm tofu!), mix and match your sauces....hand your bowl to them...and 10 min later..voila..your huge plate of food arrives! The food tasted fresh and I like that it felt healthy..(not sure how oily it is though...although the owner tells me it's actually a pretty healthy meal!). I added on a piece of shao bing (puff sesame pastry/bread for $1.50 ea) more too...and yummm...i loved my meal. Although the meal was kind of pricey..i think I paid $16ish for a lunch meal with 1 soda and 1 shaobing, the food is actually enough to last me 2 meals (and I have a huge appetite! So, in my mind...given the more healthy food, the taste and large portion...it's worth it! The owner is kind and friendly. Aside from the fact that this place is sort of a hole in a wall (e.g not the most high-end ambiance and I'm not sure if there's a restroom available) which may turn some people off, I'm actually looking forward to having my meals there again soon! read more

If no stars were a thing that would be a better option. Door was wide open, we walked in waiting to pay since it's pay first. Employee did not acknowledge us. We waited and the employee was on their phone the whole time. We left due to this. Also, LA county removed surcharge on card transactions and this place still had one which is illegal to have the consumer pay for the surcharge. I love supporting small business' but this was such a bad experience stay away. read more

Was invited to dinner and ended up at Three Flames Mongolian. It has been in business since 1973, that should be testimony enough. It is located in a small shopping center so keep your eyes open or it is easily missed. Barbra was so nice and accommodating to our party of 4, she collects your requested meat(s) (Chicken, Pork or Beef) then you add your favorite vegetables and sauces and she puts it on the grill adds some of her special sauce and the end results are mouth watering. This place is in the hood in Englewood, CA next to a washateria. It's a few blocks from the LAX airport and all the rental car places. It's a diamond in the rough. Very good food.
