Went on a weekend with a friend. We didn't know what to eat and thought this place looked interesting while passing by. It was empty when we went in, so we initially had our doubts. However, after ordering our tacos, Baja Fish and Baja Shrimp, I have to say that this place is amazing! The batter on the fish and shrimp were perfect, and the flavors of the sauce and lettuce/cabbage blended together well. The tacos were delicious and I would definitely come back for a quick bite. After telling everyone I know how great this place is, the last three experiences I have had with the front worker, some very rude girl, I have to take my stars back because I will no longer support them. 3 strikes and I'm out! I have been a customer here for approximately two years and, while I have generally found the service & food acceptable, the interaction I had today was quite disappointing; and also the reason I won't be coming back. I ordered a quesadilla plate but was accidentally charged for a more expensive item. It was totally understandable, and I didn't mind at all. However, when I asked for an extra red salsa with my takeout order, the staff member asked for a charge of $0.50. I started checking the menu to confirm the charge error to leverage this 2 oz. cup of red salsa. The fish and shrimp tacos are great! I went back a few days in a row. The Baja fish and shrimp burrito was also good. I'd definitely add beans to the burrito. I tried it the way the traditionally make it and then I tried it how I prefer my burrito and enjoyed it even more. This review is for the mixed ceviche only since I've previously reviewed the fish and shrimp tacos. The mixed ceviche might be one of my new favorites. The plate is huge and comes with a side of tostados. The ceviche is not fishy at all and really refreshing. This was the first time I've had to wait in line because they were packed. Great local spot for quick and delicious fish tacos. Baja style for both fish and shrimp are great but I like to mix it up and get grilled which is a good change up. Tried the mixed ceviche this time around and the portions are huge and went so well with all the ingredients. This food was really good. Deceptive locale (I'm learning that this is often the case in this part of Cali- I'm visiting) but the food speaks over any trash talk about the spot. As it should. We ordered lots: the stand out was the crispy fish and shrimp burrito that I was honestly nervous about, wondering if the crisp would be lost in the sauces n stuff. It wasn't. Super flavorful, even the rice tasted like something. I smeared Guac on before each bite, which was a nice, cooling touch. Didn't eat much of the black beans but they were hot and tasty too. I used to be a devotee of this place but the last two times I went both my son and myself felt the quality was poor. Extra small Baja fish tacos that used to be great sized pieces are now tiny tidbits of more breading than fish. It's just no longer a special find but a place jilting on quality and quantity. Baja Fish tacos were great and I'd come back for those. The shrimp in the Baja shrimp tacos didn't taste that fresh and the shrimp was slightly overcooked. The quesadilla was very large, but a little too heavy on the cheese in the middle and it was a bit greasy. If you get it to go, ask for the sour cream to be on the side, separated from the lettuce and salsa. They have good spicy hot sauce. They also offer agua fresca like horchata, tamarindo and pineapple. They didn't have jamaica when I went. Horchata is homemade but too sweet for my taste. Pulled up and was greeted by a very nice woman. Ordered the 2 fish taco combo that comes with rice & beans and a drink for a little over $14! That's a decent price! I also ordered a side of guacamole and chips. I ordered my food to go and chilled in the restaurant. I live pretty close to the restaurant so I took my food home and set up the layout. First - the guacamole. Perfectly made, not overly salty or spicy. The chips were fresh and crunchy, just how I like them!! Fish tacos were grilled and seasoned just right!! The toppings were good too: cabbage with chipotle cream that had onions and jalapeños. Now I'm not a spicy girl but that little kick from the tacos were delicious! Black beans and rice were a great combo and it came with 2 side sauces: a red and a green one. Green was a bit too spicy for me, again, I can barely do black pepper y'all so to some it may actually be mild! But I was diggin' the red sauce. Ordered a shrimp burrito while the cashier was speaking to someone and not paying attention. She put in a fish burrito instead. I know I ordered a shrimp burrito because I asked her about what comes on the surface and turf burrito ( steak, shrimp and guacamole). She got an attitude for getting my order incorrect. I recently stopped here while craving fish tacos. I got 2 fish and 1 shrimp. They were both delicious, but I will say the fish was better. The green salsa paired perfectly with the creamy sauce on the taco. They were pretty empty, so my food came out right away. I came back a 2nd time and decided to try the bean and rice, which unfortunately both were bland. Is it a little dinged up and have a small parking lot? Yes. But the food.. the FOOD!! My man went to college around here and told me that this spot was cursed and the restaurant always changed. We used to live by here and never gave it a second glance even though we drove by it multiple times. Finally by chance, we were in the area moving a California king memory foam mattress (do not recommend doing it with 2 people, they are quite heavy). We were dirty, hangry and exhausted. We popped in for some food and were both O_O by how good it was!! The perfect amount of batter and crispy to the gods. Loved the beans and rice as well. I tried to slow myself down to actually enjoy my food but couldn't help scarfing it down. My man got the fish burrito and we shared a ceviche. He enjoyed his and the ceviche was so fresh we demolished that too. Amazing prices for the quality of food. And I believe they do taco Tuesdays and happy hour! Definitely my new favorite spot for grub in Playa. I told my friend about it who lives there and he said it's in his weekly lunch rotation. If you're craving fish tacos there is no where better. This is a good place for seafood. They have a nice variety of both fried and grilled items. I chose the battered fish fillet as it was my first time here. I'll have to try some of their grilled items. They have a small in door dining area but also patio dining. I really liked that they had complementary peanuts to snack on as they're preparing your food. Our food was ready before I was able to finish the handful of peanuts. We have been to this great little restaurant several times for lunch while out running errands. We always get the Baja fish tacos, two each, best fish tacos in town. They are served with a spicy green sauce and a white Baja sauce, a perfect complement to the battered and deep fried piping hot fish. At $3.50 each, they are a bargain, too, especially in West LA. Great little neighborhood joint for some fish tacos. Each taco has 1 corn tortilla (instead of 2 tortillas). Yay fewer carbs. Fried fish was crisp, shredded cabbage crunchy, and tortilla soft. This is by far the best grilled fish and shrimp burrito i have ever had. Each item inside the burrito tasted amazing. The fish had a nice char, was soft and flakey. The shrimp were plump and had a nice bite to it. The table salsas brought it even to the next level. I think I might want to come here every day. Great food and services right across Playa Vista. They have a wide selection of tacos, combo plates, seafood, even ceviche! We ordered chef special this time $15.99 for a fried whole fish plus two sides (choose from French fries, salad, etc). We also ordered a combo taco plate which comes with a drink of your choice. We chose Jamaica which is a pleasant surprise! Tastes like a combo of plum and grape juice. Recommended! The fish turned out a bit saltier than what I like. But overall really great value given the price :) PS: During my limited time of visits here, I always see fire fighters or law enforcement officers come here and enjoy their meal. I saw Shophocho's videos on best fish tacos instead La and decided to come. Paid $5 for 1 fried fish taco. Baja style, cost an additional 50 cents on top of the standard grilled fish taco. Service was pretty bad as the person behind the counter seemed rude and did not want to be their vibe. Taco itself was 3/5. Tortilla was store bought, lacking in sauce or flavor. Nothing special. I recommend taco Tuesday's at Baja Cali for fish tacos instead. Baja was way more flavorful and way cheaper. read more

My go to spot for fish tacos, fish burrito or good ol fish and chips. I really appreciate that they offer three different types of white fish--it's a small detail that makes a big difference. The baja fish is cooked to perfection with a nicely seasoned coating and generous portions every time. The ceviche is super tasty, and the sides are solid as well. While they have a lot of other items on the menu, I always end up ordering anything that has Baja fish because it never disappoints.
