I need to dedicate a whole paragraph to the tastiness of the gumbo. I've had gumbo before but nothing as good as the gumbo here. My friend and I ordered the gumbo, some brussels sprouts and the meat balls. In hindsight, we should have just ordered 4 bowls of gumbo and eaten that because the gumbo was so delicious, we only ordered 2 more bowls and I think we both would have appreciated a fourth bowl :-) It's a great restaurant with live music. Typically at restaurants like this, it is common to have a ton of people crowded at the bar, blocking the view of guests who are seated eating. It wasn't the case here. The hostess did an amazing job so we and other diners were able to seat, eat, drink and enjoy watching the musical performance. I highly recommend dining here. We went here for the first reservation of the night on a Wednesday at 4pm, which is when they open. I was worried that the bar would be quiet or the music wouldn't be started yet, but they started right on time and it was well attended for a wed night. The food and service was good too. I got the macaroni and my fiancé got the tofu bowl. Both were good. We also got the Brussel sprouts and fries which were amazing!! I liked both my drinks too. The entertainment was a woman singing in English and French, accompanied by a man who was switching between the flute, clarinet, and saxophone. They were both great! Read the fine print. What was otherwise a nice music and atmosphere experience was ruined when the bill came due. Some context, this was the 3rd music bar I visited and the standard on Frenchman street seemed to be a one drink minimum per person per set. When nothing was directly advertised at the door, I assumed this to be the same. So when the bill came due and a live music fee was added, it was a bit of a surprise to say the least. Slightly annoyed, I was letting to let it go since unusually tip the musicians anyway. After my card was run, an automatic 20% gratuity was added onto the entire bill, yes including the music fee, a near 70% unexpected increase to our bill in total. I began to flag down the waitress when my wife pointed out that there was tiny print at the bottom of the menus stating both of these would be added to the bill. I honestly don't care about fees for music or even an automatic tip. However the way this is not the standard for the area, not advertised at the door with any visible signs, not mentioned by the hostess, and not prominently displayed on the menu leaves the customer feeling much like a corporate hidden fee structure. I would honestly recommend most any other establishment on Frenchmen street over this one for being much more transparent with their prices and fees. A cover charge should be announced at the door and usually paid at the door and not subject to being part of the tip calculation. A 20% automatic gratuity I've only ever seen for large groups but this is mandatory on every bill. So why not just include it in the listed price if it is always paid? Because the intent is to mislead. You have been forewarned. read more

you don't go there for the drinks, nor for the food. You go for the fun music and the snarky waiter (owner?) that made our evening so much fun! We had the Yaka Mein, which was weirdly delicious (beef in creole seasoning, hard boiled egg, pasta, and kimchi.. BTW, it would be a perfect dish if they use ramen nuddles and soft egg.. :) We then wanted some more food and ordered the Brussel sprouts (ok) and the mac n cheese (not recommended. at all). Made reservations for a family of 5 and boy am I glad I did. This is a tiny gem and by tiny I mean it's a very small joint. It can be very difficult to get a table and seat without reservations on a weekend evening. Even with the 5 of us we were seated in a very small table and shared small plates amongst us because, well that's all a table could hold. The food was good and the musicians were great. Kids were enamored by the musicians and the tasty treats kept them occupied between sets. Gumbo was great and highly recommend it. We only wish we could have stayed longer. read more

Used to have excellent food with great music - sadly the food is now meh. There are a ton of spots to listen to music on Frenchmen Street BUT Three Muses used to have the best food too, and they were always busy. Not these days - most recently, we had the crawfish pies which were 80% rice and a few bites of crawfish, and the Roast Beef Debris Po-Boy and Red Beans and Rice, both of which were average. Hostess barked at us if we had reservations, which we of course didn't. She then made a stink about how she had to see if she can sit us. Based on the old reviews and a recommendation from someone who used to live here, I think this place used to be better. Sadly the food was terrible - I ordered the gumbo and I got a bowl of lukewarm brown sauce with one tiny piece of chicken and two small slices of sausage. My husband's Po' boy was small and dry. Great music, I really enjoyed the original music by the in-house musician. The fries with pork debris were a perfect snack. The service was friendly and good. The microbrews were interesting and the mixed drink I had (tequila and ginger ale) was perfectly mixed. The hostess was not friendly. We were in town right before Mardi Gras so there was a parade occurring at the same time as our reservation. We came to the door and were told we could either watch the parade or go inside to grab a drink. Two out of the four of us went to the bar. The bar tender was friendly but not easy to work with when we asked to close our tabs instead of keeping drinks for 8 flowing under the same tab. After the original four ordered drinks we were "asked" to go outside (in the cold) so that we didn't crowd the bar and/or overwhelm the bartender. The rest of our party arrived but could not get in because the hostess was not at her station. We had reservations but half our party waited out in the cold to get in because the hostess made them wait for some reason. 10 minutes after sitting at our table, there were people crowded at the bar waiting for tables and drinks. Nice little piano bar/restaurant. They were unable to seat us for dinner, so we just posted up at the bar (where you can order food anyway) and eventually got enough seats for our group. Their menu selection is a step up from what I would've expected. A lot of Asian-inspired dishes, and some nicer stuff. I got the duck confit crostini, and the grilled lamb. It was all pretty good. My friend got the Brussels sprouts that came topped with crushed ramen, which was funny. Heard some fun piano music, ate some food, had a bunch of whiskey (they have a great selection). Best thing was the food. Everything else was fine, nothing over the top or worth revisiting. The live music adds an extra $3 per person to your bill that they then also charge an automatic 20% gratuity onto. The live music when we visited was not the jazz band promised and got up and left 5 minutes into us sitting down and didn't come back til after we left, but because we listened for five minutes we were still charged. The waitress was very nice, she made sure our glasses were always full. Overall it wouldn't be our top pick on Frenchman street, but if you like Korean food it's worth a try. read more

Before you go in, you have to commit to ordering something. No free jazz listening for anybody, if you're going to enjoy the New Orleans ambiance you must pay for the privilege. Really, though, they're not asking for any great hardship on your part though because the food is delicious. They recommended our group order appetizers to split, so we got to sample a variety. When this placed opened up years ago I felt it was a 4/5 star establishment with great food and friendly service at affordable prices. Although as time went on their menu changed and their attitude grew. Even when you have a reservation and overspend on their boring small plates and overpriced drinks they tell you if you don't finish your meal in 1 hr 1/2 you will be asked to get up from your table and go to the bar. REALLLY they need to hire some host/hostesses with some manners and stop promoting them to say this? The food comes out so fast and processed they make me feel like I am at a chipotle. Order food and BAM here is your semi warm dish plopped on a plate. What seems like a creative menu on paper is delivered as a plated disaster. On the plus they do get some solid acts in here and do serve food which is a combination that isn't always common (and this last visit my sever was actually quite pleasant and efficient). I should have read some of the reviews before coming and wish I had the service the positive reviews had. Besides the music, everything else was far below par and expectations. Let's start with the online menu, it looked good and had my eyes on 3 menu items, Brussel sprouts shrimp calamari and Alfredo dish. One by one as I asked, sorry we don't have that, or that or that because it's seasonal. WHY is it on the menu then???? So I ordered a shrimp Po-boy, I asked for ot without mayo, to serve it dry and the chef decides to put a different sauce of his choice on it instead. My son ordered a burger and they added extra stuff not advertised on the menu that he didn't want on it. Had to send it back. The waitress says both are meals are the chefs doing, but it was brought out anyways. My wife ordered a cocktail on their menu to be told, sorry we don't have that but we can make you something close enough. The waitress, while seeming nice starts clearing our table when we're still eating and have food on the plate still. There were no napkins in the plate to signal we are done. So come for the music and have some fun like everyone else in the image. Oh did I mention, automatic 20% gratuity so you can't tip on service, so why should service matter? On December 28, 2024, my family and I were looking for a small place to eat and hear live music. Three Muses turned out to be the perfect spot. We were greeted and seated by our server, Corrinne, really quickly, and she gave us some time to look at the menu and order drinks. About half of the tables were filled with patrons, and Corrinne and the bartender were very busy taking orders and delivering drinks. After taking the orders from the other tables that were there before us, Corrinne took our food order. Everyone working did a good job of "first in, first out" customer service. We ordered a Clio Burger and the Debris Po Boys. The food arrived fresh and hot. The burger was just the right size and the toppings were fresh. The Debris Po Boys had a generous pile of meat and toppings, and the fries were piping hot and crispy. While we ate, Tyler Thomson and his band played a set. Servers are nice and friendly The food is also good, but not NOLA cooking, there is a definite Asian influence. I would call this more of a bar that serves food than a restaurant that has a bar. I felt unwelcomed from the moment I stepped in. I didn't know there was a protocol and that I was supposed to wait outside to be seated inside (there was no hostess outside to tell me so). I sat down inside and was soon greeted by wait staff who was frustrated that I had seated myself and was sitting at a corner table set for three (there were several tables open). I was a lonely party of one. I had an OK meal and then was taking a video of the venue on my phone only to have a staff person come over to tell me to scold me that my flash was on. I've been to this restaurant a total of three times, one time for each visit to NOLA. This restaurant serves small plates (great for sharing) and has live jazz music every night. During my first visit, it was extremely packed on a weekend and we had to get separate tables just to start eating. My FAVORITE dish here was a Pork Belly dish- the pork belly sat on top of a green onion pancake, topped with thin strips of apples. Sounds weird, but I was so in love that I came back JUST for this dish last year when I visited NOLA for the second time. This time around, my husband and I got there super early and it was empty. We ate at 6PM because we wanted to walk the Frenchman Art Market, but that didn't open until 7PM. There was supposed to be a live band playing at 6PM, but something happened so one gentleman had to fill in with a guitar until a replacement was able to come at 7PM. Sadly, we didn't get to experience a live band like we wanted to. Because there was only two of us during this visit, we only got two small plates to share. I was disappointed because the restaurant updates their menu every few months, and they finally took out the Pork Belly dish for something else. We just ended up ordering Pommes Frites and Braised Meatballs. Both were good, but nothing special or extraordinary. Especially because they weren't southern dishes, it really was just good bar food. I believe I was just out of luck this time around, as my first two times here were great. I would recommend stopping by here for dinner when you go visit Frenchman Art Market. read more
