I came to The Verdict shortly after they opened on a Sunday for brunch with friends. It was pretty empty when we arrived, which makes sense since they had just opened, but they had R&B music playing on the TV to set the brunch vibes! The food was good. The fish was well-seasoned, the eggs came out exactly as ordered (fried hard), and the biscuit was straight. Overall, everything we ordered was decent. The service was okay. Our waitress was friendly, but she didn't check in very often--possibly because we were chatting a lot and they were still setting up for the day. Drink prices were about average for city cocktails. Most drinks have prices listed, except for the mimosa flight and the margarita flight. Just a heads up: the margarita "flight" isn't really a flight. Instead of smaller pours, it comes as four full-size margaritas, so it's more of a margarita combo than a traditional flight. The flavors included regular (lime), strawberry, watermelon, and blueberry. I had the watermelon margarita and really enjoyed it--it wasn't too strong or too sweet. I also had a French 75, which was pretty standard and decent. And lastly, I don't know who needs to hear this, but their grits are creamy. They were good, but I personally prefer non-creamy grits, so I couldn't eat too much. If you love creamy grits, though, you'll definitely enjoy them. I wanna note that this place is a bit hard to find. It's located in a strip of businesses, but there isn't a sign above the building and the door signage is small, so it's easy to miss from a distance. I honestly wasn't sure I was in the right place until I got really close to the building.....and saw the grass runway LOLLLLL Another small note...I definitely think they should reprint the menu--there were quite a few typos. Walking in The Verdict tv does nothing for your own eyes. This was my birthday bunch it was R&B and yes they were rolling with the music. We walked in was greeted, walked rite over to a table. The restaurant's location (New Orleans East) is very convenient. The food was very tasty and the portion size was generous. Service was a little slow, with no follow-up or explanation on the delay. Beyond impressed by this place. Went there for their Saturday brunch. It's recent remodel gave it a fun but classy look. Although there wasn't anyone there at the time, everyone gave us a 5 star experience. The drinks were everything you want at a brunch. The chicken and waffles were sooooooo good. Chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned while the waffle was warm, soft and buttery: even the ranch was good. The Scrambled eggs were better than mine. I've never had eggs seasoned so well. Pancakes had the crispy edges with the soft center. I typically am not a fan of grits with a red sauce but this one was delicious and the fish was perfect. A bunch of my girls met up here for happy hour one Friday and we had a nice time. The owner was very pleasant she greeted just about everyone in the place. The ambiance was real cute and the music just made you want to cut up, i had the fish bites and fries. It was cute and tasty. I didn't take any food pictures but everything was displayed really cute. Now the drinks on the other hand. Needed work. You can tell both bartender wasn't experienced. We sent back several drinks but she was really nice about it and just remade them. The food was tasty. I do feel that the portion size could be better. In New Orleans, we like to eat and feel like we are getting enough for our money. I had the seafood platter and requested to substitute the oysters for shrimp and ended up with just six shrimp on the plate with two pieces of fish and fries...not much of a platter.
